I LITERALLY CAN'T BELIEVE THIS EXISTS! Never seen nor heard of this - it's like a bonus Radio Times Special or something. Most obscure 70s thing I've seen since the Dalek Omnibus.
Not sure the first item is "incredibly sort after: as every fan and his dog owns the GotD album on original cassette or LP, or one of its several better reissued such as the 2011 Vintage Beeb CD or 2016 LP. Slipback is easy and cheap to find on at least three CD reissued.
Tom Baker narrates the 1979 Genesis of Daleks LP, not Colin. Slipback was made as part of a Radio 4 educational show and as such is 6 episodes of about 10 minutes length. It's simplistic but quite good fun from what I remember.
I Love these toys.. Don't laugh, but I wanted to get hold of Noddy in his Car.. I had one when I was about 6.. loved it to death... No longer on Amazon but maybe Midas might come across one?😉
@@midastouchtoys I know. It's an old Earth custom called a "joke". But seriously, I never knew he had lost a finger in WWII and I was a die hard Star Trek from back when the original series aired and the movies. They were so concerned not to show it that the cinematographer specifically blocked every shot that Jimmie was in so that his hand never showed. That was extremely considerate of them. It wasn't until just a few years ago that I learned about it.
Sorry I totally disagree. That vaguely resembles James Doohan. If there wasn't Star Trek written all over and the uniform.....I would have know idea who that figure was supposed to be

It's ironic that as much time has passed since the toy was released in the 90s when people were nostalgic for retro Anderson productions, as there was from the 60s to the 90s. Also, the artwork is as beautiful as something FROM the 60s. I honestly didn't remember these releases being quite so beautiful. I guess I was becoming a teen at that point so I probably started to see this kind of stuff as very childish. I'd quite like to get these though. I've got the nee set of Anderson figures ordered from Master Replica but I'd also like to own these 90s versions.

I have these photo novels. There were only 12 novels produced. Plus Star Trek: The Motion Picture & Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (which was disappointing as it was in black & white). Still have great memories of these novels. I also have Close Encounters of the Third Kind & Batterster Galactica photo novels.
Actually they started producing the studio scale models of thunderbirds in 2002/2003, I think the first was of the fab 1, but they did quite a few, really top class models, a few of which we have available on the website.

As a young kid I had a large bagatelle game that was possibly handed down from somewhere. But I never saw one as good as the Disney one shown. Great fun.
Beautiful Midas.. And original Disney themed.. If my Father saw this, he'd buy it in a flash..He loved all this old 'pinball' stuff as a kid and remembered the big older versions bagatelle machines at his local corner shop.. He loved collecting them..Wow!
I'm pretty sure the lamp flashing is done by a bi-metallic strip inside the lamp and these take a little while to warm up plus the connections need to be really clean to get enough current flowing to heat the bi-metallic strip. The correct lamp can be bought from vendors on eBay who sell parts for these toys
Interesting, I had the light on for 30 minutes, it did flash intermittently, but not as it’s supposed to I don’t think, but looks so good with light on anyway. Thanks for sharing. 😀😀
@@midastouchtoys I think you'll find the intermittent flashing was just because of slightly tarnished surfaces on the brass strip that carries the power from the battery to the base of the lamp or the negative side that uses the lower chassis as a path, other Dinky Toys that use a battery have the same issues, they're just so old that a fine film of corrosion on these parts is inevitable.
The story I read, many years ago, was that the previous year Dinky produced the Johnston Road Sweeper with a metallic green body. It didn't sell as well as anticipated and they were left with a surplus of green paint which they then used up wherever they could.

I remember one Christmas being given a Dr Who (William Hartnell era) projector and slides. Very similar although in my mind the projector was red but that might be a trick of the mind. These were great.
Yes, some of the sets had the red projectors, but I think all the Dr Who ones was blue, but most of the other sets did contain the red projector. Thanks for sharing. 😀😀😀
