It is now official. As 12:01 a.m. on Halloween, the Dark Shadows Fans Unite You Tube channel has launched.
For the first 10 videos, I have included a variety. Two videos show actual scenes from Dark Shadows: My Top 10 Dark Shadows Scariest Moments and Dark Shadows Seances: Volume 1.
In the video interviews from the MPI DVDs, I found that a common theme for actors and for production staff was to tell stories about the cast members and give impressions of them.
Why Did It Work? is a particular favorite of mine.
In Their Own Words: Costumes and Make-Up and Set and Special Effects include interviews that really give you a feel for behind the scenes and all of the work that was involved in bringing us these 30 minute episodes, 5 days.
NEW to the channel. Cast member Interviews from the MPI DVDs that have been very popular. As suggested by a fan, a new scary moment was added and a video called My Top 11 Dark Shadows Scariest Moments was launched.
Ahh, sisterly love! Daphne really loves and worries about her sister. I hope Catherine appreciates that! Poor Daphne, though. Married to Bramwell and he is cheating on her with Catherine! Shame on them both! ~Janet in Canada
When Bramwell unwrapped that portrait and we all saw it, I smiled. Why shouldn't he have a portrait of his father, Barnabas Collins? I think it was a good gift! I wonder if John Frid ever got to keep the portrait after Dark Shadows ended? I hope so! ~Janet in Canada
Grayson Hall could make each character so alive and real! This Julia Collins is a real bitch! I liked Julia Hoffman, and Magda, but I hate Julia Collins. Grayson Hall was a very good actress! When Catherine drew the X, I felt bad for her! Darn! I hoped Morgan would get the X! He deserves it! Great episode! ~Janet in Canada
I was hoping that Daphne would take Josette's advice and break up with Bramwell. Catherine still loves Bramwell very much, and is carrying his baby. I wish she had married Bramwell instead of that poncy git, Morgan! Oh what a mess! I hope things work out for Catherine, Daphne, and Bramwell! ~Janet in Canada
Trask sweet talks Joshua into leaving Nathan alone since Nathan did his so-called duty (lying against Vicki) by testifying against 'the witch' at the trial. Peter begs Naomi to testify on Vicki's behalf since Forbes' lies may very well end up sending her to the gallows. Naomi is still reluctant, until another argument with Joshua, she's decided enough is enough. She's tired of being brow-beaten by her husband and who could blame her? Good for Naomi for standing up to her husband at long last. I know Barnabas wants Ben to tell the truth in court to save Vicki's life, but saying that Joshua would be grateful to Ben for testifying on Vicki's behalf, when Joshua firmly believes she's guilty? What fantasy land is Barnabas living in? Even before the curse, Barnabas was aware that his father was starting to swing towards Abigail's point of view that Vicki was responsible for all the weird and tragic things that were happening, and Joshua became 100 percent convinced of Vicki's guilt after Sarah's death. And we all saw how furious he was when Naomi dared to defy him to go and testify for her in court, it would be a million times worse for Ben. Joshua DOES have to power to send Ben back to prison, and Ben is right to be concerned about this. Still, I give credit for Ben for doing the right thing, despite his fears and the fact that he was risking his freedom and Joshua's wrath by going to court on Vicki's behalf.
I agree with all you wrote, but I think Barnabas thinks that Joshua will be grateful to Ben when he reveals that Angelique is the witch and was responsible for all the Collins' recent tragedies because of Joshua's hatred of Angelique despite Joshua recently changing his mind to agree with Abigail.
Reverend Trask is most definitely not a man of God only a self seeker who makes promises to anyone (recently Nathan) to testify in court his way and then reneges on his promises. Nathan has only already realized Trask has used him and now no longer has any need of him. Trask will soon get his comeuppance and dues.
I admire Mr. Malloy's wish to help the Collins family, and keep Carolyn out of trouble. He's a good friend. David is a naughty boy. He listens at doors, and sneaks into Vicki's room . I've tutored children, but none of them was anything like David Collins! He's a little demon! Just like in the books about Vicki and Collinwood that I've read. I guess the books were written after the show was ended. I like these stories! ~Janet in Canada
I really love Joan Bennet's hair! I once tried to copy it, but found it difficult to maintain. I was twenty-four at the time, and had been reading the Dark Shadows novels, in the golden book collection. There was a photo of her in the book about the movie, House of Dark Shadows, and I liked her hair instantly! I like Vicki's hair, too. It's so thick! The fashions of the mid 1960s were pretty cool, and I remember seeing a lot of pretty dresses when I was a little girl in the 1960s. I wonder what ghosts haunt Collinwood? Our ghosts are an old woman, a nine year old girl, and a cat. I am not afraid of ghosts, I guess I'm like Vicki in that regard. Love this show! Thanks! ~Janet in Canada
I wonder what is the problem between Roger Collins, and Burke Devlin? I could see that Vicki didn't really like Mr. Devlin, he was a bit rude, and asked her some personal questions. Poor Vicki doesn't know who her parents were, or where she came from. I feel sorry for her! I'm glad Carolyn likes her. Vicki needed a friend! I'm very interested in these early episodes! I hope to see many more of them! I've never seen Dark Shadows before, and think it is a fantastic Soap Opera! TFS! ~Janet in Canada
Sam Evans sure has a drinking problem. Poor Maggie! She asked Burke if he could imagine anyone wanting to live at Collinwood. I said, "I would! I love big old houses!" Collinwood is so mysterious and full of secret passages! WOW! ~Janet in Canada
Sam's version of the story of Josette and Widow's Hill is vastly different to the story that Barnabas told later after he was introduced to Dark Shadows. Things and actors changed. This guy who plays Sam Evans is not the same actor who played Sam Evans later on. Also, the actress who played Maggie in the beginning, is not Katherine Lee Scott. Who was she, and why did they get a different actress later on? I have so many questions! ~Janet in Canada
If I were Victoria, I would definitely lock my door! Roger Collins is not to be trusted! Why is Roger worried about Burke Devlin? Who is he? Why was Mr. Devlin in jail? I hope to find out! ~Janet in Canada
Capricorn is depicted as a sea-goat, which is a mythical creature with a goat head and upper body with a fish's lower body. In the 19th Century, the depiction of Satan as a horned devil with a goat's lower body including cloven hooves was firmly established. I think it is the Capricorn charm on Vicki's bracelet that Trask is saying is a depiction of the Devil or Satan. This may be another anachronism associated with this storyline of a witch trial in 1795, which in itself is a ridiculous anachronism as I have pointed out in the comments to an earlier episode about the witch trial. The famous Cornell scholar Mary Beth Norton wrote, “I’m sorry to disappoint you, but there is nothing about goats in the Salem records or, that I can recall, in any American records of other witchcraft prosecutions.” The devil’s appearance is not described in the Bible, Marina Montesano, a professor of Medieval History at Italy’s university of Messina, wrote for National Geographic. There’s no mention of his horns and hooves anywhere in the Bible. And for the most part, the goat like depiction doesn't show up in medieval or even Renaissance images of the devil. Ronald Hutton, a historian at the University of Bristol in the U.K., argues that the devil became associated with Pan only two centuries ago, during a Neo-Pagan revival in Europe that sought to challenge the predominant Christian beliefs. The movement included a literary "Cult of Pan" that united a romantic view of nature with the ancient Greek god; and that has led to the modern identification of Pan with the devil. Hutton writes, "The transition to a staple modern image of goat horns and feet and goatee beard is nineteenth-century, and does seem to derive from the contemporary literary and artistic cult of Pan, as god of the increasingly-valued countryside."
This episode is an example of why I like seeing the condensed versions presented here. The dialogue btw Nathan and Peter went round and round and round - maybe 3 mins worth of actual content that, when televised with commercials, left me feeling baited
Is it just me, or is Joshua more sad over Abigail's death than he was over Barnabas and Sarah? He did mourn somewhat for Sarah when he and Naomi were in the mausoleum, but Abigail's passing seems to have left a bigger void for him. Despite his poo-pooing Abigail's claims of witchcraft in the beginning, he has since become a believer. He probably wishes now he listened to Abigail's warning about letting Vicki stay in the house, even though Vicki is completely innocent. Nathan eases his conscience about lying against Vicki all too easily. Now that he's aligned himself with Trask, there's no turning back now for the lieutenant. Someone needs to tell Trask that the Almighty frowns upon putting on false testimony against others. Getting Forbes to lie against Vicki, Trask has now lost all claims to being a "Man of God'.
@@HalySolomon I know it's normal for one to mourn their sister, I'm just saying he seemed more grief-stricken over his sister's death than he did over losing both of his children.
Trask isn't missing one trick at all in court. Even he lies himself about eavesdropping on Peter, Nathan and Vicki before entering the room. Nathan has become a real rotten apple in the later part of this storyline.
Vicki sure has met some strange folk, on her arrival in Collinsport! I don't think I like that Burke Devlin, and why did Maggie Evans call her a jerk? She didn't even know Vicki! How rude! Cool story! It's something like the book I have. This video reminds me of a story from THE TWILIGHT ZONE! lol! These videos are great! TFS! ~Janet in Canada
He definitely strikes me as more of a sorcerer than a reverend, definitely nothing loving or gentle about him lol. Suffice to say, he plays the part very well indeed.
I loved Daniel saying Trask looks like a devil more than anyone. Trask started out gentle with Daniel, then got meaner and more demeaning with him when the boy refused Trask's request to go to court to testify against Vicki. I just knew that Trask would blame Abigail's demise on Vicki. Now Vicki's fate is going to rest upon someone who's the last person who should have her fate in his hands, as we'll soon see.
@@joanngreen9714 Angelique never got her hooks into him. Gregory was a rotter from the start. I would argue he's even worse than 1795 Trask and his son Lamar.
@@BethHarmon-uv7tl keep watching you will see Angelique using Toni. He is a tough guy but a nice one Carolyn was using him to get Julia's diary back for Barnabas. Toni is a lawyer for a disabled former worker of the Collin's cannery.
@@joanngreen9714 You're confusing Gregory Trask with Tony Peterson. Tony Peterson is the lawyer that Angelique enslaved in the present. Gregory Trask lived and died in 1897.
