Oakwood Premier Guangzhou and I paid around 120USD for the night. Quite pricey but spacious rooms and excellent services. Make sure to ask for a room at the top floors!

Guangzhou is a city with 2000 years old and it is the food capital of China. Shenzhen is a city less than 50 years and it has the 2nd most skyscrappers in the world (no. 1 is hong kong). Shenzhen has a much better city planning than Guangzhou. China tier 1 cities: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
10:40 It is a little pity that you spend your only dinner opportunity for eating Lanzhou ramen in Guangzhou~ There are many good local restaurants around the huge temple. It's just like eating British fish & chips instead of any French cuisine in Paris.

So, you're from a country where not everyone can speak English, cos it is not your first language. Then, why did you expect everyone in China to know English? There is no need for English as much these days. We have Apps that can translate any language from around the globe instantly.

english is not popluar is China....such as..when a Chinese visited to Uk/ USA... does many people can speak Chinese in Europe/ USA... This is normal.... do not think english is important everywhere....
Use Google Translate camera mode, set Chinese-to-English, aim at the menu, and you will see the menu in English. Durian is a famous "acquired taste" LoL - you started out "yuck disgusting" and two minutes later "Mmmm ... yum".
