Hi! We're Nicki and Mike, two Aussies sailing our 34 foot yacht Zen Again around the world.
We sailed from Queensland, Australia in 2011 to Darwin, Northern Territory before sailing to East Timor, Indonesia and Malaysia in 2012.
We then sailed to Fremantle, Western Australia before setting off across the Indian Ocean in 2015 to sail to the UK, visiting Cocos Keeling, Rodrigues, Mauritius, Reunion and South Africa.
In 2016 we left South Africa, sailing to Saint Helena in the South Atlantic ocean before briefly sailing through the eastern Caribbean, Bermuda, the Azores and finally Falmouth in the UK.
In 2021 we left the UK to sail home slowly, visiting Galicia, Mediterranean Spain and Portugal, before crossing the Atlantic and spending a season in the eastern Caribbean. Since then, we have sailed the southern Caribbean to Colombia and Panama, then north to Jamaica and the Bahamas.
Zen Again is now in Chesapeake Bay and we're looking forward to cruising the east coast in 2024.
Always longed for the sea, my ex was a total introvert and wouldnt abide by the idea as it was "boring" but my new parter is starting to see the treasures that can only be found out on the water. Thanks for sharing, i like the no nonsense no drama documentary style of video youve given.
Hi Marcel, I believe you're referring to cards for chart plotters. At that time we had a small Garmin chartplotter with Garmin BlueCharts on microSD. We also had CM93 charts on OpenCPN. We no longer have a chartplotter, instead using Navionics charts & app on iPads.
Happy New Year guys! Sorry to hear that Steph caught Covid, we hope you're not feeling too ill. Weird that you caught it arriving in Panama like us! I see you also cleared in at Puerto Obaldia, isn't that part of the eastern Guna Yala beautiful? Definitely the best part of Panama in my opinion. We're glad you enjoyed our video and I'm sure you will love your time in Panama. Do be careful though, a panther swam through our anchorage at Isla Piña! We will follow your adventures as you go, have fun!
Hi Terri! We’re glad you enjoyed the video, we sure had a great time with you. We have another video coming out next weekend about our first month in Portugal 😊
You clear-in at a port of entry of each country then are free to visit other ports. You need a cruising permit in Indonesia (probably still called a CAIT). Then clear-out prior to departure from each country. Sites like noonsite.com describe the procedure for each country.
Glad to see you back after some while! Good to know you're well (was fearing something was amiss, with all the C-19 malarkey!). And thank you for the video, too. Stay safe & regards. Arvind (Perth, Western Australia)
Thank you! We are a bit behind with publishing our videos as have been sailing over the last few months! We will be releasing a few more videos over the coming weeks so hope you enjoy them!
Hi guys I’m thinking of doing a trip from Broome going to Indonesia when it’s the best time to do such a trip I have a 70f with a maximum speed of 12 kn per hour By the way I love your videos
I have just binge watched your journey thus far. New subscriber, I am sure more will follow eventually. I am quite impressed with your yacht considering it is only 10.4m. Thanks for taking the time to edit & upload. Cheers
