Doc. You are somewhat correct in some circumstances and for some pain reduction for some. But as a Veteran and one who cracked and crushed my spine 44 years ago and now have intractable pain that is disabling I can tell you that ACT, Mindfulness, Sleep discipline, losing weight, stopping smoking, exercising, prayer, and other techniques are helpful. But first one has to control the high intensity intractable level 7-9 + chronic pain to a level 6 or less just to get to the starting line of all of those other aids and therapies. That requires meds. Those meds are opioids. Well managed carefully monitored steady dose opioids for pain reduction, not pain removal but reduction to a level where one can begin to take advantage of those other tools. Completely denying opioid pain management is a severe cruelty now widely practiced by arrogantly smug MD’s who need a heart transplant.
Does Glucosamine Chondroitin actually work? No. End of story. 2024 - still no sure results after many many trials. And I tried it for several years. Waste of $.
I am sure this MD is imminently qualified in his field. However, regarding his knowledge and understanding of the actions, contraindications and physiological chemistry of natural supplements I think the doctor is woefully under qualified. I remain unconvinced in the benefits of natural supplements per this vid..
Thank you so much. I had some pretty major back surgery and kept being told I was getting into bed wrong but was doing something similar to this. Of course it isn't easy but this helps so much and does agitate the pained areas when I get in/out of bed.

This is NOTHING like what I had done at Ortho Arkansas! It was VERY painful and I wasn’t out like that lady seems to be. There was so much hammering and I knew nothing of what Dr was doing. He never explained ANYTHING as he was going. I kept screaming that I could feel that! My legs were raising in pain!! Took MONTHS for the pain to go away! I’d call and they’d keep saying give it more time! Yet they told me before the kyphoplasty that I’d feel so much better after. I suggest NEVER having this done in office! Should be done in hospital!
Dr Paige Tretter, now after getting married, Dr Paige Boykin. First of all, I can't believe no one has commented here yet. I have been coming to you for over 2 years, since 2022, through 4 shoulder surgeries and a spine surgery, not to mention for hip pain, back pain, leg and ankle pain. I would not have made it through without you !!. You are so supportive, informative and helpful with your knowledge and skill. You listened when I needed to vent, when I had questions, and when I questioned, "Something just isn't right here" when post-op pain lasted way longer than it should. You cared when I cried and laughed with me over many fun conversations. Your compassion for your patients shows in everything you do. I thank you as you continue to help me, when at my age, it seems something is always falling apart. I thank God for you.
Cute video. Thanks for being there to help me over the last 2 1/2 years with 4 shoulder surgeries, my ankle arthritis and with my hand and finger surgeries. I wasn't the easiest of patients, but sincerely appreciate your skill, bedside (chairside/OR tableside) kindness and TLC.
Where are the bed sheets how are they involved? Do we enter bed w/o them? I am to have Lumbar surgery soon I wondered how to properly and this video has helpped.
7 days post op, dc today and NO ONE HAD SHOWN ME TO DO THIS! Especially on bed at home/no rails! I had read my pt notes and it kept saying i needed to be cued and coached every step of logrolling to get up! No matter what I did I felt wrong because of pain and no one explained! Thank you fusion of s1,s2 to pelvic illiac and also l-4, l5-s1 .
i had this procedure and I’m recovering ok. My doctor told me NOT to sit for over 15 minutes for first four weeks. This doc made it look simpler than it is. Not a good idea for him to do so. Cement takes an hour to harden.
I gotta say, after fairly dramatic improvement in my dog I started taking it in 2008. After several months of a daily dosage I noticed a very significant improvement in outcome while on hiking adventures. Previous to taking it I was limited to around 5 miles per day, followed by Ibuprofen as an anti inflammatory so I could make the return hike the following day. I can now go 10-15 miles without significant joint pain and this has allowed me to maintain high activity levels at age 67. For $10/month I am relieved of joint pain and rarely need to follow up with Ibuprofen. Actual response to G&C or a placebo effect? I don't really care. Quality of life is greatly improved with G&C supplements.
that's a really honest review I am 24 years old with post traumatic patellofemoral arthritis (kneecap cartilage damage) and I had high hopes in glucosamine chondroitin but unfortunately it almost didn't work for me but I believe it has power and gives relief for some people,,after one year passed I'm very interested in stem cell therapy but it's really expensive or even think about surgical options to finish this I hope I have good luck with this for me and for everyone no matter what age cause no one deserves to suffer ❤🙏🏻
ive got zero ass, and havnt had since i lost 150 lbs, but then i got hurt and effed up my back now im 361 lbs im down 60 lbs but its not enough to keep the flair ups from happening so often, maybe having a weak ass was the problem all long, well its time to find out, ill be back in six months
It’s not a weak ass. It’s having a weak core. Exercising your glutes will also work your core pretty hard. When your core can take on more it’s less on your back. That and how tight certain muscles are. I’m not a PT by any means so I could be wrong but this is my understanding. I hate that you are going through it. I hope you get well soon and hang in there. ❤ Did you pull a muscle or break some parts?
my curve is 39 degrees and I live in constant pain. I wake up from the pain and I feel as if I will pass out at random times during the day. I'm absolutely miserable and frustrated with the wait until your curve is 50 degrees. I've been doing physical therapy since I was 29 and am now 41. I'm not overweight and I do pilates and stretches everyday. The dismissal of doctors saying that injections, pain meds and physical therapy will make life bearable is an insult.
Which cortisone brand is best for epidural injections ? Thank you I can’t take Celestone or dexamethasone allergic I Only tolerate depo medrol Is good for use as an epidural injection ?
I’m 22 years old and my back has caused me so much discomfort. Even with chiropractic appointments I don’t know what else to do and it’s getting tiring.
@mercybaba1685 If you don't mind, what did the Physiotherapist do that helped? I've had steroid injections and nerve ablations. They help some, temporarily but I'm getting much worse.
I don’t believe it’s a placebo effect. I literally couldn’t sleep at night because my hips ached so bad now my hips are not aching, and I can sleep on my side again could not raise one of my arms over my head without it, locking up after taking realized I lifted my arm and it didn’t lock. Could not go up and down the stairs without my knees, hurting and having to hold the railing. Now run up and down the stairs no problem. This isn’t really mind over matter. It’s whether it works or it doesn’t work.
Thank you for sharing your experience 🙏 Really appreciate it, as I also really struggle to believe that such benefits can be attributed merely to placebo. Would you mind sharing how long you took this for to witness such an improvement? I've started very recently (about a week ago) and whilst I know every body reacts differently, I'd love to know how long it took for you to feel such a difference. Thank you so much for helping others with your insight 🙏. Best wishes your way from the UK!
A doctor who is not pro or con, fantastic. The issue with so many supplements is how slowly they work. I had to take glucosamine, chondroitin, msn for three months before there was pain reduction, that is a long time. I have read many of the studies and they don't have the subjects take the supplement long enough. Also, the studies done in the US are all over the place, the studies done in Europe find more positive results, what is that all about? Also, the brand you take matters.
