Welcome to my channel, the home of the lowtechsupport philosophy: With The Right Procedure You Can Accomplish Anything. RU-vidr Husband, Father, Maker, and Learner. Spending years as Halthcare Tech Professional.
Thank you for sharing during your own struggle! Had an Ec 2 error and held the Brew Later/Now buttons like other videos instructed. Watching yours I did it unplugged and that was the fix! 🙏
It does mask your data transmission, but yes it is a very minimal Security add-on, but one that can be helpful if you have to use public internet access. I can agree to a point with your perspective. Thanks for the comment.
Mine was blinking the lights of the hrs and it turns off the first time I had to wait 1 hr for the coffee maker to turn on and now I'm still waiting for it to turn on again cause it turn off for 2 hrs what can I do when that happens
@timkatsapas thanks for your feedback, I agree it should be standard practice, these videos are to draw attention to those best practices, as the ISP doesn't walk non-technical people through the process. But I agree, we need to just do it, thanks for your comment.
As someone who works to install internet for my local provider And has for the last decade we always offer to let the customer set what they want for the Wi-Fi. I even show them how to do it. Granted i don't work for the big company's that are just soul sucking but ya. We offer gig down and we just launched a new mesh system that has an app to make it easy for the customers to control their home network. It's if a company won't let you change the Wi-Fi name and password just get your own from Best Buy or Amazon.
True, that's why I think changing the router's admin password to the firmware is so important, can they still get access if you change that access code?
Yes for sure for us in the IT/Sec world we do, I'm just trying to help people like my Dad (Electrician) or my mom (Real-estate Agent) who don't realize its an attack vector, but thanks for the comment I appreciate it. What other tips do you think non-IT people need?
@@Ivlook OH man that is crazy, when we lived in an apartment building in San Antonio, it was insane how many you could see. If you're in an apartment, definitely hide your network.
This is true if you trust AT&T or your other internet service providers, but they go through data breaches too. AT&T just admitted to one from TWO YEARS AGO. Now that was for Account information but it could also be for data like this, and they're less obligated to mention stuff like this.... ALSO you are correct, you don't have to do all these security processes, you just have to do more then the next person and the attacker will move on. Choose what you want, but don't do nothing. Thanks for the comment!
@@DanielBisagni What are you going on about? Are you a bot? Do you understand what an SSID is? It's a human-friendly text advertisement that is sent along with the AP's MAC address. If you turn the SSID off, then it just advertises the MAC address alone. Turning off the SSID and then changing the SSID such as your tutorial advises is like you had a sign out in front of your house but you took it indoors to avoid attention but then you faffed around to re-do the sign... which nobody will see anyway.
@chadvanderlinden9548 haha, no I'm not a bot... but hiding your SSID without changing it or the password allows your Internet Service Provider to retain default access to your network.
@@DanielBisagni No. There's a separate administration network and interface which customers don't see and cannot block. Knowing your SSID, hidden or not, does not give your ISP any special access to your network EVEN IF they don't have an admin back door.
Except now your family members will wander around the neighbourhood shouting "Has anyone seen my front door?" which attracts so much more attention to it. Hidden SSID is a UX tool, not a security tool.
Lol true, but hopefully they won't. I think it's helpful to turn away intermediate trouble makers, but you are right, for those who know what they're doing, a simple packet sniffer will show the traffic anyway. But disabling the wps system seems important to me, is it less of a risk than I think it is?
Ever heard of you know hacking a password properly where you do not guess but instead open the computer and rip the password out of it? takes like 10 seconds
Yes generally it can be located in the registry, but usually you will need physical access to the pc... and in that case, as they say in Texas, "Come and take it..." but good point using just a Password is becoming more and more not enough. MFA or Multi Factor Authentication is another layer of protection you can use if you think the physical location can be compromised.
Using a 1070 not overcooked to crack a password 8 to 64 with upper lower numbers and specials 759 years to run the whole list which also means for a 32 character password would be half the time
I didn't realize it is that fast, what software would be used for that? Could I use a mobile gpu to get the same results? Would this be using Linux or Windows or OSX?
I think this would be a fun experiment, but not sure I could wait 375 years for the pay off, would the 4090 cut that to 5-10 years? This is why MFA or Multi Factor Authentication is important, an extra layer of protection... but yeah enough time and resources and all passwords will fail...
For software hashcat and OS Linux and a 4090 would probably have off 500 years or so if setup properly but what's crazier is it would only take nine days to crack a password 8-64 characters only lower case with the 1070
How to build a memorable yet unbreakable password: 1 ) Pick three unrelated details which you know you will never forget, such as: ~ One segment of your parent's/child's phone number ~ The name of your best childhood friend ~ The make or model of your first car 2 ) Associate their order/sequence with where you're using this password 3 ) Reverse one detail and 1337 one (possibly even the same one) Say you're using 4987, Becky, and Toyota, and this is for your personal email account: ykc3B_4987_Toyota is your password Seventeen characters is a pretty strong password length and, to even attempt to crack it based on personal information, they'd have to know exactly which three details you selected, which order they're in, which ones are 1337ed, which ones are reversed, and what (if any) special characters you used to separate them.
my syntax for new passwords is: 2 words, each at least 7 letters long. each starting with a Capital, Separated by a funny character. and ending in 4 numbers. It's something a user will remember but no one is ever going to guess it.
I like it, Simple and easy to remember, and as computers get faster you can add another word or two. This is very similar to my 2nd favorite way to create a password. Thats a good strategy. Thanks for the Comment RyanT2568
This is a great way to create a master password for your password manager and for the rest of websites just leave a password manager to generate 50 char long passwords for you.
Yes I would agree. (I am still too paranoid to let a cloud based manager do it for me), but for sure a stand alone password manager generator is a great way to get a strong password. Also a password manager/ password wallet is a great tool to add to the toolbox.
@@DanielBisagni If you have any easier method of communications. I can explain how password managers works / or how they should work to be safe even if they are cloud based.
@RabbitChannel66 yes join my Facebook page Facebook.com/lowtech or lowtechsupport.com/blog and you can message me there, or leave a comment on the blogpost. I love learning new things and this would set my mind at ease. Thanks @rabbitchannel66
Hmm, I am not sure. A space might not have an ascii number, so I don't think it will make the password more complex. Let me do some research and see what I can find.
Okay, so this is what I found. It depends on what symbols are approved on the symbol list on the site or app that the programmer used. If they included it, then yes, it's just another symbol. This was the site that helped me with that: security.stackexchange.com/questions/59071/should-a-space-in-a-password-count-as-a-symbol-when-checking-for-complexity#:~:text=From%20a%20complexity%20perspective%20it,complexity%20to%20its%20full%20potential.
Take the first (or some other position) letter of the words to a song lyric, Bible verse, or phrase. Substitute a number(s) for a vowel(s), and add one or more punctuation marks in there somewhere. That usually makes a password that is complex enough, memorable if you know the meaning, and not easy for someone to remember if they happen to get a glance at it. For example, "Talwsatg!gasbtsth1971!" = "There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold and she's buying the stairway to Heaven" (written/released in 1971) 22 characters long, and at first glance looks like gibberish. Go ahead and try to crack something like that... I'll wait (while doing other things)...
Yes I have no problem with that, it's a good way to keep the complexity high, just know the cracking algorithms are aware of it too. Th@nx5 for the c0mm3nt :)
Hey @Bad3rgaming, I like it alot, 24 characters 1 Capital letter 10 Lowercase letters 3 Symbols 10 numbers That's pretty good, I'd give it about an 8 out of 10, just bump up your Capital letter count and maybe 1 more symbol and it would be a 10.
@jalentaylor7490, I agree. If they told another story as good as Encanto, I would be willing, but yes, they'd have to think about for linger than 2 seconds... thanks for the comment.
I have used this idea numerous times, especially on E-Torx type sockets where the bolt head has rounded. It gets pretty frustrating when it takes two people to remove a bolt. One to pull on the ratchet and socket and the other pulling on a four foot pry bar to keep the socket and ratchet from slipping off the bolt.
You shouldn't wear gloves with a grinder. They increase the chance of getting caught in the grinder. You shouldn't be burning yourself when grinding becauee you don't want heat to build up in the tool and ruin the temper. Lastly the grinding wheel won't hurt your skin inless you get caught in it and pinched between the wheel and something hard.
One can only hope. I'm not sure if I mentioned Star Wars in this one, I probably should do the same for them. I probably should break it up into Clips huh
I just finished watching that old Halo movie I think Fall Of Reach? And also that movie Eagle Eye and I can't believe how good they were compared to the garbage that's being put out right now. It's amazing how forgetting to tell a story in a story is so common.
Let me know if this helps. Longer version of this video is on my RU-vid channel. Step by step instructions are in the description. RU-vid.com/danielbisagni Thanks for watching.
I have to do another livestream, was thinking of doing Sniper Elite 5 live stream, but its pretty violent, what do you think @Adventurer_117, is that game too violent?
@@DanielBisagni from what I see, it looks ok to me. I don’t really know who your target audience is but if it’s like 13+ I think it isn’t too violent. I’d watch the stream. Will it be here or on Twitch?
