Great folio! I realize this video was dated a year ago, however I just saw it for the first time! So I paused this video where you stated the supplies and base measurements and promptly took some of the heavy card stock you referred to from Michaels, (because that’s what was close by)! Scored them, followed along with you for the rest of you video pausing it just long enough to spread my glue😊. 25 minutes later at the end of your 18 + minute video, I had completed the base! Thank you for making the well explained video tutorial… I certainly look forward to more of your tutorials, and now I will choose my designer series paper to complete it in the near future. 😊❤
@@wandaspencer9523 thank you so much Wanda for the wonderful review of my video… lots more on my channel for u to check out. I’m so happy this folio was easy for you and turned out well. 😁😁😁😁😁
@@TheKatshe I follow a lot of people on here and sometimes I have to watch a video in 20 minute segments because they are so long and sometimes confusing. But I like the end result. It’s a pleasure to watch one I can follow and make along with. Again. My thanks for to you. ❤️
@@nuriagiralt617 , thanks so much for watching, give my channel a look too while you’re here . I have lots of fun easy videos you might like. Happy rope basket making 😁😁😁😁

@@cindyhappel7376 Cindy, I do have a videos for that fabric type rope basket …it was an Easter basket but surely could be made in any thin cotton fabric you choose….i used fat quarters in many colors…
Rope baskets are on my Make 9 for 2024 so I’m here to find out what I need and how to do it. Oh my goodness your basket is beautiful ❤️. How much rope would I need to purchase for a basket of that size?
@@vanessajackson5595 at least 50 feet… you can get 100 ft bundles but look at the link in description , you get over 300 ft I think for less than $20.00 …that what I used for this basket…have fun , also get some good thread, 40 Wt cotton or polyester
Allow yourself a bit extra for practice and know that not all clothes line rope is the same, some softer some have different core…but the one I use in video was my fav at that point in my basket making…u may have to experiment with different cords until I find one u like…happy basket making Vanessa!😁😁
@@TheKatshe Thank you 😊. I think I’ll buy twice what I need and maybe make a set of coasters for practice. You make it look so easy, I can’t wait to give it a go.
@@merylweintraub9747 the tags are Not a necessity but just add a bit of style and cover the end of rope for a nice finish. Meryl, I do have a video , how to make a basket with one handle ( peeks a boo handle) but if you could tell me exactly what you are thinking I can do that too. Maybe two handles?
This an excellent tutorial, I am trying to follow step by step on my brother A150. Just a few questions: Is my brother A150 strong enough for these projects? I tried with normal thread and it’s not coming out neat and the thread breaks a lot and I am not sure if the product will last , do you mind sharing the type of thread you are using? I tried some upholstery threads and most of them seem too heavy for a domestic machine
@@Saponlinetrainingforall Thank you so much for watching…..I use a 40 wt polyester or a cotton thread found on Amazon….cotton is brand Signature. This is my favorite. The polyester brand is Bothread …
@@cathleenchamberlain9317 hello Cathleen , please check the links in the description of this video. All the links are there. I usually get my supplies from Amazon.. Have a great day😁😁😁
I am sewing my first one while watching you so I couldn’t use my cell phone to prop my basket lol. This is such a great video and I am now addicted to another craft.
Kat.. you surely were a school teacher, or should have been, if you weren't. Such clear, concise directions. Here's my question: If the rope is 6mm, should the Chicago screws be 6mm as well?
@@nitababcock3977 hmm , not really quite sure what u mean Nita. My camera is set up almost directly in front of me , almost on my right shoulder so you can see the project as if you were sewing it yourself. Have a great day! 😁😁😁
Claudia, if you watch video in the very beginning you can see the far left dial is tension set at 5.5 approx. , please test your machine for correct tension for your rope. Your machine may need more or less tension depending on the rope you are using. Have a great day😊😊😊 thanks so much for watching!
@@debbieeldridge2630 it is a bit of a challenge , please watch my video here. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mOnE8rFbyWA.htmlsi=3lRDX8sn-UoKTXtj I go thru the ins and outs of a smaller basket in that video. Thank you for watching 😁😁😁
Your video is superb and made me really want to try this.. i do have a doubt if the thread is not extremely tight, what can we do to make the thread tight and for the basket to hold its shape?
Do a little practice piece and see what stitch width and length works best for your rope and typically I find that a shorted distance between stitches makes a firmer basket but also the rope firmness plays a role too… I set my width at 6 and length at 2 on my machine and it seems to work best. The stitch length will give you more stitches per inch the smaller you go. I really think it depends on the rope. Also a good 40 or 50 weight thread helps too. , thank you for watching😁 hth
One of the quilt group brought about 20 of them to our group;s meeting today. But none had a straight up edge. I wondered how you could do it. I am getting rope tomorrow. Thank you so much for all the great information. You are a great teacher. You give needed information but not a lot of fill.
Hey Kat, Simply loved your video and loved the way you make everything so easy to understand. I was wondering if the thread is not extremely hard what can we do to make the basket hold it's shape?

I haven’t tried to make lids but maybe I’ll give it a go in next video, I’m doing a video on how to join two colors so I might include trying to make lids in that video. Thanks so much for watching Carmen 😁
Great video. Have you embroidered on the baskets? Do you have videos on that? I seem to break needles when embroidering on them, do you unfold the rope first and lay it loose before?
Melody, I do not embroidery as of yet but I may try one day. Yes I do lay my rope out on the floor before start to sew it. Thank you so much for watching, check out my channel for more fun videos😁😁😁
lol, it is tape and a piece of folded paper so that when I put the presser foot down I can see it…just a visual so I don’t forget to put it down because this machine will still sew in the up position. Being as the rope is thick it is not easy to tell that the foot is not down.
