Hello there... and welcome to my channel. This will be a variety channel where I play games [new and old], talk about the music I've been listening too, and review tv shows and movies! Thank you for stopping by and check me out on my twitch channel at punkrockplayer1 on Mondays and Fridays.
One like...... Dude you a boring... And I mean this with respect, you are like that chemistry teacher I always sleep in class. Who gave you this idea.... To sit and talk about a movie... Get a job... Please
Like this one better than the album they released a year or so ago. Like this one a lot and plan on adding it on cd. Have they’re debut Annihilation reissue that includes an ep with Rise Above by Black Flag
Juan Garcia is an awesome guitarist. Agent Steel kick ass. The other guitarist in Evildead Albert Gonzales is amazing as well. He was in Death on the Spiritual Healing tour replacing James Murphy who played on the album.🤘All of the members in Evildead are amazing musicians.🤘
I mostly liked your review of mANTtras. The lead singers name is Dryden Mitchell. Drys voice is fantastic. His voice sounds the same in studio and live. They are all great musicians! I think their sound has matured in a definite good way. I don't know if you remember the tour bus accident. Unfortunately Dryden broke his neck and the bus driver was killed. That contributed to why it seems like they were "gone" I think you would like the video for, "Everything She Wants" There are lots of cameos. I'm a little surprised you didn't realize that was originally sung by WHAM! The boys certainly did it justice. Don't you think?
@@terricosgrove9367 yeah I would say so! Yeah I’m trying to listen to as much music as I can. I didn’t know that was a WHAM! song! That makes that song even more impressive! I didn’t remember the tour accident that’s awful. I’m glad there back!
Ok that’s pretty cool they were known as that! I call it like I hear it with any albums I review and this for sure had hardcore tendencies but I could really hear mostly punk with a dash of emo (original emo). I appreciate your knowledge of these guys! It’s cool to hear from fans who known these musicians for a long time
@@punkrockplayer1 They've definitely evolved. Hearing this album with their 1st is a big shift...but if you listened to every album you do see the evolution of their sound.
I can help you out a little here, Hot Water Music has 3 main singers. 2 of them are original members - Chuck and Chris W. who both have the gruff growly vocals. The 3rd is Chris C. who is also in the Flatliners. He has the cleaner vocals but also does a growly/scratchy voice. As far as named guests...None get a featured vocal solo and are basically just adding background vocals and additional instruments.
I'll also add...in case you look up vids of them playing live. Chris W. currently only records on the album and does not tour. Just Chuck and Chris C. will be shown in current live vids.
Cool that does help! Even with not knowing that I feel like this was a solid album. The guest features were confusing to try to hear for sure thanks for the additional info!
The official vid for Menace shows all 3 singers but Chris W. kinda hangs in the back as he's not one of the main singers on this one. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FmRpWhC7_bw.html
Those distorted vocals aren't vocals. It's a device called a talk box that you plug your guitar into and it has a tube that runs into your mouth that allows for the distinct sound. Think like putting your phone speaker up to your mouth while sound is playing and opening and closing your mouth, similar concept P. S. if you don't like this album you'd absolutely despise their last one "2020"
Cd came in the mail today. A solid 8/10 album (Upon MANY listen's I've boosted the score up to 9/10) if not a bit higher. I love all Evildead albums and I rate Toxic Grace a bit higher than the band's previous album United States Of Anarchy which I also love. My biggest complaint about that album was the production and from listening to the new album that issue was fixed. Oh and anyone who doesn't like Phil's vocals on the new album were never an Evildead fan to begin with. His vocals sound the same to me on every Evildead album. The only song on Toxic Grace that vocally took some time and a few listens for me to get into was Subjugated Souls.
@@punkrockplayer1 Oh and Evildead drummer Rob Alaniz has a RU-vid channel onefootblastard. Dude posts all sorts of Evildead vids as well as other bands he's in. Rob's a great dude who takes the time to respond and interact with fans. I have zero affiliation with Evildead, I'm just a fan🤘
@@MetalJohnBaylor Nice! Same here. I also really love the catchiness of the songs. Pretty much all of the songs get stuck in my head which is great.🤘The more I listen to Toxic Grace I've got to say it's my favorite album of 2024.
I agree the first verse style with full bass on HIFI (True Light) was so good and I wanted it repeated. I also really liked "Out Lout" as the melody and production are beautiful Here are my song ranking: I love the album, all tracks are good. 1. Silent Picture 2. Ball And Chain 3. Metaverse 4.Hifi (True Light) 5. Good Time 6. Same 7. Out Loud 8. Over Your Shoulder 9 Neon Pill 10. Float Into The Sky 11. Shy Eyes 12. Rainbow.
Sorry for the overly loud game audio and gameplay starts at 16:38, next play through I’ll have the kinks ironed out and hopefully it will actually go live on here next time! 😂
I wouldn’t put this album at #1 in my opinion. I would put this maybe at 3 or 4. I feel like the albums release was a little late to make the same impact that the first 3 did. Maybe if they would have released it around 2020 or 2021, it would be #2. My ranking would be: 1: Truant 2: Anthology 3: Mantras 4: Up In The Attic 5: Always and Forever
WITH BANDS OF GREATER DEPTH LIKE PEARL JAM NEED GOOD SOLOS, NOT ONLY TO ENHANCE THE MUSICAL ASPECT, BUT THAT THE LISTER HAS A MOMENT IN THE SONG TO CONSIDER IT'S MEANING. YOU SHOULD CHECK OUT THE BAND SHRIEKBACK THIS BIG HUSH.
Of the tracks I liked the most were, in order: 1. Upper Hand - a track that is not in a hurry, is slow and shows that the band knows how to survive in the midst of everything fast-paced nowadays. It's my style. 2. Setting Sun - music full of love and hope 3. React, Respond - what a great introduction. Excellent chemistry from Jeff Ament and Matt Cameron. And Eddie Vedder just needs to push. 4. Got To Give. - gives me the same feeling as In Hiding, full of incredible verses. 5. Dark Matter - this is really the song that will stay in my memory the most. 6. Waiting For Stevie - Incredible rhythm, but it lacked more daring as it could have been even better, for example at the end there is an incredible solo, but I believe that Eddie's voice didn't fit well at the end.
I suddenly got your review, and I liked the feel of each song, even though I compared it a lot to Ten, which is always the band's biggest reference. When you listen to the albums after Ten, in sequence, you will be amazed at how this band manages to be concise and loyal to their style and still allow themselves to be bold, even if they don't always get it right. It's part of it. The album No Code is precious to me, because it is philosophical and avoids the grunge style that could pigeonhole the band too much. And Yield is the greatest representation of a band that can do anything without strings attached.
@@punkrockplayer1 I recommend not skipping anything, because the discography in order helps you understand how the band has a creative and intelligent process in each moment and context.
I LOVE THE NEW PEARL JAM ALBUM I LOVE ALL PJ ALBUMS!! I LOVE TEN AND I LOVE GIGATON ALOT OF PEOPLE DON'T LIKE GIGATON. CAN'T WAIT FOR NEXT MONTH THE 2024 DARK MATTER TOUR. PJ IS BEST LIVE BAND EVER!! VERY FAIR SCORE, THANK YOU!! 😊 🩷🤘✌️
Glad you enjoyed it, good review. If you are wanting to explore the back catalogue, you may appreciate the below guide bro as a reference, although purely subjective 👍 "FAO anyone new to PJ and thinking of giving their old stuff a try, Warning, there is a reason PJ are new to you, they havent really made good albums for a while despite always being a great live band. If you want more good stuff I suggest following below, simply a subjective reference. Start with the 5s in chronological order then the 4s...etc Ten 1991 - 5/5 Vs 1993 - 5/5 Vitalogy 1994 - 4/5 No code 1996 - 4/5 Yield 1998 - 5/5 Binaural 2000 - 3/5 Riot act 2002 - 4/5 Eponymous (avocado) 2006 - 1/5 Backspacer 2009 - 2/5 Lightning bolt 2013 - 3/5 Gigaton 2020 - 4/5 Dark matter 2024 - 5/5"
@jasonarnold2807 no hate for it bro, just little love for it either. Love the band, saw them headline reading festival the summer this album came out. All the above means is that if someone wants to know which PJ albums to listen too, Avocado would be the last I would recommend. To go from dark matter to life wasted would be a travesty and undersell the band. Ten, Vs and Yield, that's where we need to be signposting newbies imo, and after that, Vitalogy, No code and Riot act. Just my opinion though 👍
@punkrockplayer1 I'm in UK and got tickets for both dates here in June. Can't wait! Saw them both nights they headlined Hyde park London in 2022, they were fantastic both nights.
New to the channel! With Green Day being my favorite band, I was a bit biased with my review but I finally posted it and I throughly enjoyed this review, always a great day when I get to hear someone talk about my favorite band lol. Keep making videos, I’ll definitely watch, you earned yourself a sub! 84% for me!
I loved the album, not only were the fast songs good but I enjoyed the slower songs too, my favorite tracks are 1981, Strange Days, Dilemma, look ma no brains, Goodnight Adeline and fancy sauce( the lyrics in Fancy Sauce were wild)
