So I actually just ordered these they haven’t even shipped yet, but I figured I’d grab a slim tongue since I’m coming from the old nexus line and I have a thick foot. The problem is no one even has an xs slim tongue size large. Not CCM, Not IW, HM, pureh I’ve got my fingers crossed they fit, but why is CCM pushing interchangeable tongues when they’re impossible to find.
when I was 14 my father bought me one of these as a gift, it broke three days later (user error I bought 8 more throughout my hockey career. I still do this very day hear about breaking that goddamn hockey stick XD
👀! You guys have these, too?! 😄 I still want these skates, back. Might end up purchasing a pair of these ones at iw sometime later on. Had a little set back with these ccms. Not sure what size to buy, now. I'd recently purchased the xtra se about 2 months ago, but I had to return them because of a tight-pinching sensation around the little toe in the left boot, only. (This part, here: 4:22 right at the protection area just before my toes fully sits inside the toe box) Before buying the se, I went to a local hockey store to try on the ft680 in a 9 regular and felt the same pinching feeling at the time; reason I'd gone with wide for the se, but when the skates came, unfortunately, the wide didn't fix the issue 😅 My relaxed fit in a vapor is 9ee. Pro fit would be 8.5ee. I was told that the jetspeed line should relatively fit like vapors but even when I got scanned using ccm's scan machine, my results came back as 9.5 regular. 🤔 I began to wonder if current jetspeed skates are cut .5" smaller than vapors? Something is telling me that the recommended 9.5 regular would probably alleviate the toe-pinching, but my brain is telling me 9.5 would be too big 😆
Did CCM share why they removed the width adjustment from their newer models? I absolutely love my Tacks 710, because the single width/length adjuster at the back of the helmet gives me the best fit I've ever had. Really excellent technology. Seems like a strange decision to revert back to a length-only adjustment system on the entire Tacks line, because it leaves a pretty clear market hole for Bauer to fill with their FreeForm Adjustment system... Very curious to know your thoughts. Thanks!
Question, the Junior level 9x4 is marketed as having the same carbon fiber one piece shell along with the new Genetix insole... Upon inspecting the skate it's clear it's more comparable to a 5x4.. is this true?
I'm 6'5", 200lbs with a 34-35'" waist. What size girdle should I get, L or XL? I know they are super adjustable, I just don't know by how much. Would a L (ideal waist size) be able to adjust long enough for my height (I have REALLY long femurs)? Would an XL give me more length, and still be able to tighten enough around my waist?
Will this girdle ever be restocked? Or is it gone for good now? All I can find anywhere for CCM girdles is the Jetspeed one, which also requires the shell to be purchased separately, to a much much higher total cost (and provides worse protection)
Anyone using a improvised tool other than the tool provided by True to remove the blade? My pair of Hzardus is so stiff that it's nearly impossible to loosen the blue trigger and release the steel
I skate in Trues, both Cat9s and HZRDUS 9Xs. The one thing I'd like to see is an actual low-volume True skate. The adjustable tongue is really only a bandaid.
100% agreed, thinking of getting customs, purely for low volume but it's a bit much. Genetix insole and lower tongue adjustment only lasts for so long.
@@robertasmith5000 I don't have this latest version, but in the previous version, they really don't seem that much different. I can switch back and forth without any trouble but the cats might feel a little softer.
@@wheelsupbardownI had a similar question….Im a fatty beer leaguer and Ive had the full True Customs and recently went to the Cat Pros. I love them but was thinking about trying the HZRDUS 9x or Pros next. Do you notice enough of a difference?
New line up is super confusing. So no more Pro custom option? 7x4 is now the same as the previous top end ‘9’ model (like the TF9, Cat 9, and Hzrdus 9) and is actually identical to the 9x4 just with different steel and insoles (and an uglier blue color)? I don’t get why they didn’t just go the CCM/Bauer route of having customers choose their steel/insoles rather than make a completely separate model (less skus and issues for retail stores to deal with too). Especially when the price difference between the 7x4 and 9x4 is about $300, but you can buy the Genetix insoles and DLC steel for less than that on True’s website. It also seems strange True would throw away all their model naming conventions that they’d spent the last 4 years building. Not to mention jack up prices by a sizeable amount. I’m glad they at least claim to have fixed the heel cracking and rivet issue which were an issue with the TF9 and even worst on the Catalyst 9
Hey there, these come with outdoor wheels so they're ready to hit pavement or asphalt. If you're going to play indoors, I'd recommend picking up a set of wheels built for that. www.inlinewarehouse.com/Indoor_Hockey_Wheels/catpage-RHINW.html Chase at IW Hockey
What would be the equivalent size for a warrior alpha lx2? Do this your size bigger o smaller? Currently wearing 13” in the alpha lx2… Thanks in advance
unfortunately the sliders "ground control" are not scratch resistant, literaly I scratched it by catching it on the couch in living room. I thought hockey skates should be more durable
Thank You for this video totally relaxing on the brain. I wish a lot of RU-vidrs videos were like this not hit that like button and subscribe button before you even get a chance to watch. Your video just opened my eyes to sizing skates I have been out of skating and hockey for 35 years and don’t know squat jack squat about sizing or quality of skates anymore . And to say the least I have subscribed and like your video.
This is a solid stick from top to bottom, however, the Legend Pro uses only the very best materials like the BlackLine XXV carbon fiber and the best construction processes like FeatherLite XT. The result is major reduction in weight with significantly improved energy transfer and recoil. Chase at IW Hockey
Brandon or Chase.. would you guys happen to know what the stiffness rating on these are? Just got a used mint condition pair. Been searching for these for at least 9 years now. I wish they were a EE but you can't have your cake and eat it too. Lol
Hey bud, the stiffness rating would likely be in the recreational category but I don't have anything specific for your, unfortunately. Best of luck on your search for these classic, I already like that X-Rib design in the heel! Chase at IW Hockey
Yes, Chase, indeed. Ok, 🫡 thank you, that's all I needed to hear. If rec. category, then they shouldn't be no higher than 165. Hm 🤔 They might even be just that.
Bauer Mach at size 6.5 is actually a smidge smaller than the Hyperlite at size 6.0. My son currently wears the Hyperlite, but it's completely worn out. Got the 6.5 Mach to replace, and it's actually smaller than his hyperlite. Waiting on size 7 to arrive.
It's definitely pro-inspired but not quite a pro mask. It's a high-performance mask for the competitive goalie. The 2015 GF Pro would be the top-end model. Brandon at IW Hockey
I wouldn't know of any tests on youtube but any top price point retail mask is going to give you the best protection possible. Those incorporate high strength carbon fiber which is what you want to look for instead of fiberglass. Brandon at IW Hockey
Hello I’m fairly new to hockey only playing for about a year, I’m playing u15 juniors and I am in defence do you think this stick is good or should I look at something a little better if so do you have any suggestions, I’m looking for something durable
Hey! Welcome to the channel and welcome to the game of hockey! This is a great choice to start off with. It has great durability and even comes with the Edge Shaft Taper which is seen in their higher end models, offering a low kick for a quick release. Once you get comfortable with shooting mechanics, you can jump into a performance-level stick like the QR5 30 or QR5T! Those will offer a lighter construction with better performance in shooting. If you have any more questions, please reach out to us on here or our customer service! Brandon at IW Hockey
That will offer some extra room for sure! Grab yourself a pair of thin skate socks too! Thicker socks will reduce volume as well, we have these that are a great choice -> www.icewarehouse.com/Drymax_Hyper_Thin/descpage-DHTSR.html Brandon at IW Hockey
Hi Brandon or Chase, can I use the True Replacement Goalie Skate Tongues on my custom SVH player skates? I really like the style and protection that it offers but I dont know its compatibility. Thanks!
Hey! So you technically can put a goalie tongue in a player's skate and vice versa since they use the same Velcro system, however, they have different lengths and ankle trimmings specifically designed for either player/goalie skates. You won't get the best fit and coverage but you can do it. Brandon at IW Hockey
I’m a mechanic and a guitarist I have suffered with golfers, elbow and tennis elbow for a long time now. I just received my Powerball and just in one week of using it. I have a eliminated tennis elbow and golfers elbow. So simple and effective at the same time! Best $14 I’ve ever spent!
IMO. They're not very good elbow pads. I feel pain pressure just to put them on around the arms because the plastic guards do not curve with the shape of the arms. CCM arm guards are more comfortable.
Edit: Same concept, really identical... only differences are, the control skates have the thicker tongue that you see comes on the ft6 pros, these xtra pluses do not. The tongues on these are similar to the ft6s Uh, 😬... I believe the stiffness rating on both the control and xtra plus skates are the same, at 165. I would get the controls over these though, just for that pro tongue. But I personally would get these over the pros because of the looks 😄 and the skate lvl.
Can I get a stiffer boot where the holder connects? Iv'e gone through 4 pairs of CCM's in a single year. I buy CCM because Bauer's tuuk lightspeed edge holders bend/break in a week and a half of use, While the xs holders last longer than CCM's boots do.
What skate are you getting if you don't mind me asking? The top price points have the stiffest construction and going to offer you the best support and durability. Brandon at IW Hockey
