Great sharing, Steven. Loved it. Have One thought to share with you. I make it a point that I dont talk to or talk with someone. I only speak with someone. For me that would make a conversation placing the other person(s) with whom I am engaged with, with the greatest respect and as an equal.
Great insight Gopalan. "Speak with" and "talk with" may be interchangeable. From my days living in Singapore, it seems like "speak with" was the more predominant phrase (British English?). But I find "talk with" is used more often in the USA. Either way, if the focus is on WITH, the chances of a true discussion increases significantly.
@@stevenhowardonleadership Yes, that is highly likely ( British English, that is). True too, that the key word here is WITH and, what a difference that makes!
Thanks for having me Steven! Here is a great leadership quote from Nelson Mandela: “It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when you celebrate victory when nice things occur. You take the front line when there is danger. Then people will appreciate your leadership.”
Thanks Angela. GREAT quote. I shall add it to my collection of leadership quotes. And for those who enjoy great leadership quotes, see our playlist Great Leadership Quotes on this channel.
I totally agree Steinar. And yet this is something that is rarely taught or discussed in leadership development programs. I'm changing that for my clients!!
Thanks Steven! This is actually ringing many bells for me. I think that Communicate as a leader can be quite a challenge. I know that there can be styles or types of leadership... people who "draw" a line that their subordinates cannot cross, based on bad temper to generate a little "fear". In my case, I may be the opposite, I'm more the close, kind and concerned person to my team, I create trust but I believe that I need to find balance between these two types.
