I live in Banff (town) and I'd like to say to everyone thinking of visiting, STAY OUT OF THE TOWN! It's just a miniature city covered in a layer of BS. Most of the workers a either alcoholics or dead inside. If you want to experience Banff the right way take this guy's advice but avoid the town.
No, two problems, its too big and slow at f7.1. When I travel by car I have a kit that contains full frame and APSC bodies and glass, when I fly i have mostly 4/3 cameras and glass and some APSC depending on where I will be going.
Different for every use case. The lens is definitely not big when not zoomed out. I only shoot in fullframe even with travel so compared to other options definitely is a size savings. But for preference it is a bit slow but there’s always trade offs. I’ll still probably stick to my 35-150 tho
I bought one of these a few weeks ago and shot a few events with it (including one wedding) and never changed lenses once, never felt like I was missing anything. It’s a little heavy, but that’s as close as I come to having a complaint.
To me pixel peeping/peepers destroys the art of photography. Sure you want a sharper image to look appealing but if an image is presented at a certain size, it should be seen as it is and avoid zooming to critique the sharpness. It should be about the composition and story, not pixels and sharpness
Definitely some good points there! There’s certain types of work in the commercial world that need perfect pixels but 95%+ over analyze and I believe it starts taking them away from the act of getting out and shooting
For me this lens is what gets paired with my XH2S and 100-400. I use an A7RIII as a second camera. Don’t ask how this combo happened. I’m just as confused as you guys
I have had this lens for more than a year and only used it twice - both times on a tripod to shoot static b-roll of concerts. It is too heavy to drag around. I think that I will probably sell this and I might get something with a longer reach.
Fair enough all depends on your usage. I use it daily for travel / commercial work just because I like the versatility and don’t mind the extra weight in exchange for
Well you can thank the minister of environment They promoted greater tourism for people that come into the parks wanted to increase 3% every year because people weren't caring about the parks. Tourism is fine it's a bit heavy in the summer but in the May June and October zones it's pretty low-key the video is fine by the way why not.
Nice video. You seem lile a nice guy. You sgpuld absolutely visit the Belogradchik rocks, Perperikon and the countless megaliths and rock formations all over the country
I realize a lot of this is personal taste but I prefer much of the image as it was in the original. The end result looks too much like an 'edited' image and I prefer enhancing an image rather than an obvious transformation. In particular, I find it difficult to reconcile the fact that the light is obviously coming in low from the left side behind the mountain, and you emphasised that, but then there is too much light on the slope and trees on the left than is possible with that light source. Also I am not sure why you have placed so much emphasis and unrealistic light on the figure. It is not doing anything interesting and is best used to show the scale of the landscape around, for which there is no need to make is stand out like that, somewhat unnaturally. But anyway I seem to be in the minority.
Respectable opinion. My thought process: the raw I started with was quite underexposed to keep the sky from blowing out which exaggerated the shadows on the subject and the slope on the left. So in the editing process I wanted to achieve a better balance of light bringing that exposure back up to bring out both the subject and the color in the larch trees. In general there isn’t much for interesting light going on in the frame and the main parts of the image are the subject and peaks for scale and the larch trees which are bright yellow for only a few weeks each fall. While the before and after are quite different in look the after is more representative of how the scene looked to my eye and I shot it in camera darker knowing I was going to bring it back to this while making sure I keep an even exposure through shadows and highlights. I agree with your perspective but that’s just a look into my thoughts since there really wasn’t much interesting light to use naturally from my perspective. It’s also an adventure landscape shot so I believe you want the subject to easily seen. Thanks for your thoughts though i appreciate it
@@Dusty.cressey yeah 15 year canmore local and 24+ year Alberta local here. We are sick of people coming here and building on top of us and the over-tourism absolutely clogging out parks. When us locals cannot even get into our own backyards without having to shill out tons of money you know there is a problem. Thank God there are no tourist out in the middle of nowhere hunting black bear and cougar. Lack of East Indians out there is a sigh of relief. The only relief we get.
@@azidegaming6528you’re really fitting the Canmore and Banff long term resident stereo type of being a delusional entitled silver spooners who thinks he owns the park. Classic old lazy entitled suburban guy
@@Dusty.cresseyare you on crack. Banff and Canmore can’t even handle to locals let alone tourism there mountain towns not city’s. Do us all a favour and stay in the city
Been using mine for about nine months now for event work and very happy with it. Only weakness is veiling flare into big, very bright backlighting. Switch to primes for that.
I have a Nikon Z7 ii and was stoked they finally released this in Z-Mount. I purchased it and am absolutely in love with it. This is definitely the all around lens and it has not left my camera since putting it on. Thanks for a great video highlighting this beast of a lens. Nice truck too
Ayyye this is an awesome testament to the path that brought you here and I couldn't be more stoked to see what is ahead for you as you continue to grow here on RU-vid!
