Not me, getting gifted a Victorla 10-in-1 Multimedia Center to then buying a Sonos Immersive Home Theater to facilitate a better way to play vinyl records around my house. Then finding out I need to upgrade my Turn Table and discovering Sonos has a special edition.. Thus leading me to your precious video and now finally here I am contemplating do I just skip the Sonos Pro-Ject edition to something more badass like this 🔥. Anyways - this was super helpful and very thorough to help me understand how far this hobby can really go 😂👏👏
Close up filters are more favorable on longer focal length. Extension tubes are more favorable on wide angle lens. Interesting how little difference it come up to when you remain reasonable on the diopter. High quality portraiture lens tend to be of the same focal length as prized macro lens. So it is challenging to decide between maximum aperture (bokeh/fast shutter speed) and macro capability.
Not sure what all these other comments are saying poo poo-ing the other mics here. All sounded amazing/great. If anything, the u87ai kills with a good pre like a Neve or API. Then, for some reasons, the differences get a lot bigger. But tbh you'd like the sm7 with a Neve as well. Don't sell the other mics. Everyone needs a sm7b. The better I get at audio, the more I value that mic.
Just wondering why you think the black would decrease resale value? Reason why I think it won't is - there have been so many knockoffs of the champagne/silver. But not the black so it might be more sought after in the long run I'm guessing. Who really knows. Wondering what your raw thoughts were on that subj?
I own both I use the Batis where AF speed is important, plus because somewhat weather sealed and lighter it is a travel lens The 1.4 GM is a “studio lens”. I enjoy the manual aperture setting and yes it can give better DOF separation, but that is frequently too narrow. The MTF suffers at F1.4. Yes, I never found a need for the OLED display of any of my 3 Batis lenses BTW: The SEL50F14Z is a very great lens, just as is the Batis 135. I also own both of those
Really thanks for the time and money spent getting the lens for the comparison and review. Definitely I'm going to get in the near future the GM lens but the Zeiss which currently serves me is one of the best lenses out there together with the 90mm macro. Both are the best value for the money. For sure the GM series is for the professionals. Thanks once again for the info shared.

Cool video! My current setup consists of 9 Pro-Ject RS boxes, all balanced besides the streamer and DAC, driving the Tannoy 6.2 speakers & the REL T7 sub. I'm really happy withhow everything sounds.
this dude is so full of it. He states he's a noob to turntables but he clearly isn't. Here he is buying a decent turntables that is no way entry level and getting a bunch of upgrades, that the average user wouldn't even use.

For this video I was using the aputure LS 1s led panel with color gels. These days I use the nova p300c and two 60c which are full rgb panels so I can really dial in branding colors etc for clients

Really great review and setup for pro-ject turntable with sonos. I recently bought the carbon evo without sonos as package and i bought the pre amp S2 ultra from pro-ject. Do i need sonos amp or sonos port so that i can stream to my sonos home theatre system?

After reading all of these comments and re-watching this video 3 years after release, I want to clarify my stance. The Batis 85mm IS full frame, no question. I probably should have worded my thoughts differently in this video. It's clear that when you look at the mount side of each lens next to each other, they are roughly the same "FF" size. Though I still do stand by my "crop" and "fly by wire" comments in this video. The Sony definitely beats the Batis in those categories even if it's only because of the IBIS from the Batis or a better/smoother/more accurate fly by wire focusing system in the Sony. Always appreciate the feedback!
Apparntly that Dude cannot handle his camera and his lenses. Please stop doing these reviews when you write nonsense. One RU-vidr more that just makes reviews to get clicks. I have the Batis line and 3 GM's (14, 50, 135) and 5 G's (90, 12-24, 24-104, 70-200, 200-600). They are all fullframe. Perhaps the Batis with stabilistion are 1-2mm more in focal lenght. But on the contrary the GM 50mm 1.4 ist more a 48mm. There are some mm differences but thas is with many lenses. To say Batis are not FF is just stupid.
I also have a 300c and wouldn't personally try it. I can only recommend it on the aputure 300d II and up, since those have metal yokes. But definitely recommend reaching out to Aputure to find out if the 300c is strong enough.
@@FilmIn5D They list 300C and 150C as compatible with Dome 150 on their page. I've seen someone tried this combo on YT, it works but got tendency to sag. Will see ... got it ordered since there was a small promo. There are lighter 150cm domes, but not available in Europe :(. So this is actually the only option here.
Do you have an opinion on how this compares with the Victrola Stream Carbon? The Victrola setup seems to be even more seamless and it connects to the Sonos setup via Wifi, but I am curious to understand if there is a difference in the sound quality?
I just purchased the fluance rt83 and have already spent more in upgrades before I've recieved it in the mail. Still have to wait 2 more days😅 it's addictive.
interesting if there are any sense to invest in higher quality diopters...? They are widely used in underwater photography for supermacro, but I am curios If I can use diopters with high quality telephoto lens, ot teleconverter is a better option...
Hey great video thanks - I’m starting out too. Got an Audio Technica with built in pre-amp and bought an Era 100 to use for the line in. All working so far but did you notice the output is not super loud? It’s ok, you’d have to raise your voice to talk over it if Era is set to max volume, but not at loud as it can go when streaming music through it.
I haven’t used an era 100 but if it’s at all similar to the play 1 in terms of output then yes it will be too weak for a turntable. The play 5 is their loudest speaker I believe.

I have one question for you bro, now I have a sony a7 iii, 55mm zeiss and 35 mm gm, should I buy a new camera (sony a7 r5) or 50 mm 1.2 gm or 135 mm gm? What would you do?
I would do the same and invest on the lens. I have the Sony A7Rii and I will keep it till it dies. I made huge mistake in the past and sold my 85mm 1.4 GM purchasing an other camera and really regret it. Now I'm missing this lens and cannot afford to get it back.
What a complete review! I too was a kid when I had a turntable and want to purchase one. I’m looking at the FluanceRT85. Do you hear a difference between CD, streaming music vs your turntable? Thx
It all depends on your setup (speakers amps etc), and which albums you listen to. I don’t listen to cds often but in terms of streaming my vinyl setup has way more presence and staging than streaming does. But streaming is prob better for newer music with more bass.
awesome.. gonna try it when i get home.. thanks for the vid.. very informative.. everytime i stop my turntable, i have to turn it off, which disconnects it from the other speakers... change the record, turn it back on, then i have to link all the systems back together if i want to hear from multiple systems and not just the sonos one that came with the turntable.. very frustrating.. so maybe the autoplay feature will fix it? @@FilmIn5D
How has your experience been listening to vinyl via digital signals? I've beeb looking at the Carbon Evo for a while but currently I have a Samsung soundbar system at home and the only input options are bluetooth and optical, so I'm thinking to use. RCA to Optical adapter but is worried that the sound quality will be downgraded too much.
I bought a 1200 Apollo twin usb & i have had problems the entire time I've owned it. Here i am 2 years later & now it's barely even working. I use my desktop for everything.
