I bought the base model Select S with the 2.5 liter 187 hp motor. It’s very quick around town and I don’t find it sluggish on the highway. Opinions vary. Hands down it’s a lot more fun to drive than anything in its class and it’s quiet and luxurious. It’s not for everybody, but it’s perfect for me.
Doesn't respond well to hard acceleration? Ok, how does it respond to everyday normal sensible acceleration? Probably pretty good. I think if you want a car that does hard acceleration well, then buy a Mustang or a Challenger, not a Toyota commuter car.
