Weed Free, Deep Mulch, No Till, Ruth Stout inspired gardening. Follow the progress of a home garden from late winter until harvest. Come on, Let's Plant and We'll See What We Get.
I wish I had access to all that mulch! And a much bigger garden plot!! Just working out of my backyard and there’s just barely enough room to walking around the out of control garden!
A small, wire mesh, bathroom, or office garbage can might work just as well. I don't know what those that you ordered cost, but Dollar Tree may have something that could possibly work just as well. Or, if you just need a couple more, this might be a solution, so you don't have to order an entire second, or third box. Everything I do is on an extremely tight budget, and I just know, that I'm not alone in that area. Lol You may also be able to find some in different sizes. Maybe even in different colors. Flat black, for instance, tends to disappear. You can't see it as well, because black dosen't reflect light as well as other colors do. It must be flat black. Glossy paint will not work. Since it will reflect light. This way you can see what's under them. This method also works very well on any wire fence that you would rather not see. This is all just a suggestion. Just in case you happen to need something in a different color, or in a bit larger size. ❤
Intensive studies have been done on the taste and mouth feel of tomatoes that were harvested at blush VS toms that completely ripened on the vine and NO difference was found by the tasters or the equipment used to test the difference
I love your videos!!! I wish i could hear you more clearly, do you have a personal mic you use for clips? It often can cut out the high frequency sounds that bugs make, which would help folks like me watch the vids (can't really watch loud things or deal with noise well myself, brains are weird ya know? Lol)
Fried green tomatoes are the best, I too take my tomatoes at blush. Most farmers do as well to ship to stores same as other fruits as they’ll ripening the trip. Enjoy the summer y’all 🌞🌺👍🏼
I take mine at blush also, to many perils in my garden to leave tomatoes on after that first blush of color. Most folks don't understand the flavor is already inside at blush so in the basket on the counter to full color is best for me in Southeast TN.
I try and tell people this all the time. Harvard did a study no difference in flavor or nutrition. If your vine ripening your just rolling the dice more for no reason. Lots of bad info spread by people that do no research. Just like the myth that you can't water your plants mid day because your burn the roots or leaves where are you gardening the Sun?
Gardens and farms for self sustainability is always so rewarding as well as making a garden to provide for others. I have recently found gardening as an outlet and as a way of spending some quality time alone and with others. I also recently found your channel and it’s so inspiring I can’t wait to start my watermelons next year thank you for sharing and always being a kind person to watch during a tough day. I hope your channel grows exponentially 🫂
Plant white clover around the garden/yard. I have a whole bunch of rabbits, and my garden is not that big raised bed 40 x 60, and they don't touch anything or the groundhog. They don't climb up the beds which they could easily do. Why go for the garden when they have a entire yard of clover 20lbs or 60 isn't to expensive on Amazon and helps with erosion if you have any issues
Slug bait in one corner then I suck them up into a container each night to 'dispose,' of em lol there's so many! But I've been having so many black aphids killing my plants lately I don't know what to do! I got spinosad soap and some other ant/aphid control spray I've been alternating each day but my Nasturtium my mom gave me is dying because of them, it makes me sad :(
Get chickens, feed the chickens literally anything he said to put in there. Way less labor intensive, and the chickens are good eating. And you get a more rich compost.
I am growing yard long beans this year. I cut them up in 2" length peices, cook them in a little coconut oil, with chopped garlic, onion greens, fresh basil and oregano. 🥲😋
