Greetings! This channel is largely dedicated to archiving my streams from Twitch ( twitch.tv/lierxagerate ), as well as a few ancient oddities I have lying around. The stream is very young and I'm currently using shoddy equipment, but there are plans to improve things, so pardon our progress and all that. Hope you enjoy!
What's super helpful in this fight is to use the Speedy RIng's IP 'Fake" to raise Tia and Selan's agility higher than Gades so you get a couple of healing options at the start of the round instead of Gades attacking first and having no control. Makes it much easier to plan each round after that.
I remember posting to a walkthrough on a website long ago, maybe 25 years ago, that the first encounter with Gades could be beaten because it said he was unbeatable. He has a much HP as the third encounter, not the reduced HP of the second encounter, so yeah, it’s tough even in Retry mode. But the Gades’ blade is sweet and can be taken in and out of the Ancient Dungeon.
Just managed to take him down with my party all in mid 20's (Selan 22). Biggest hurdle was the first couple rounds as still needed him to target Guy or Maxim or get a lucky destructo wave damage roll but after cutting his attack a few times and buffing the party defense I could pretty much survive and heal every round no problem.
Lvl 43 I didn't have to the patience to level to 43. I took him on at lvl 29. Battle took forever, and lots and lots of healing from all 3 while guy focused attacking. With maxim getting a hit in now and then, but I got him down.
You also need the Safety BIT from a chest Here the Magic Master boss CAN use the DOOM spell while the Paladin Shield absorbs everything else you also need a Ribbon to solo it to death since it can use the Bio spell if your trying to wait until the BOSS himself uses up all 50,000 MP so do NOT equip the Reflect ring if your not going to use 4x Rasp and Osmose users here.
I had him at lv 99 TO avoid the 3rd Tier bosses instant kill move Vanish him before the GIRL half dies or summon Golem that instant kill move is 100% physical so the only way for Gau at lv 99 to LOSE the fight is if that death counter attack DOES hit and kill him instantly else still stick him in the Front row that physical hits of his at lv 99 still do 9999 damage. If you need TO actually SELF heal him at lv 99 give him the Fire/Paladin shield and use the Meltdown causing Rage but for the 3rd tier final boss while the GIRL half still takes damage from Meltdown the other half GAINS HP from it so in that case equip the Gaia Gear Armor/Paladin shield and self heal through QUAKE using Rages on Gau instead.
Except EVEN UNDER 4x exp the exp in the TOWER itself on the way to Gades SUCK and the cube core enemies still won't give out enough exp to hit lv 40+ WITHOUT the 4x Exp boost but even with 4x Exp I stopped lving at lv 30 and still didn't survive his OPENING Destructo Wave AT all.
IMHO foomy sucks I'd rather use FLASH for the entire game BUT that's impossible you can only get Flash well after you beat Gades here OR he kills everyone in under 30 Seconds. I didn't own a SINGLE Statue items the casino to buy them is NOT EVER worth it.
Best way to grind up to where you'll be strong enough to face Gades. There is a monster you'll run into that's shaped like a cube with sphere core. These monsters love to run away in battle. If you can successfully kill them, they give out a large amount of exp.
@@warrenorbe7329 yes indeed. Spark magic does pretty well against them. So long as they don't all run off, leaving your party staring at an empty field off in the distance.
Yes but its DAMAGE is cut by 50% in the back row so even at lv 99 for IT to do the full 9999 damage he MUST be in the Front row and yes the Masters scroll/offering CAN do 4x hits for Physical damage rages so that's 4x 9999 hits in the front row for when it triggers if you glitch in the TEMPEST Sword Catscratch CAN make Wind Slash do 9999 damage by lv 99 to anything that doesn't absorb it.
In case anyone else ever sees this and wants to replicate, young me had a cheese way to solo Gades with Guy back in the day, without overleveling. Equip the IQ ring to Guy, which allows him to cast Stronger on himself from IP. This heals him fully. With the best defensive gear, he can take 3 hits from Gades before dying, so he can attack twice. Hit Gades with the Gladius' Light element IP attack to hit his elemental weakness. It takes like an hour at least, but Gades *cannot* win if you keep healing, and saves you time compared to overlevelling the entire party like this.
@@ChronoSquare I might be misremembering, it's been many years. But any weapon with a strong rage attack will do. As Gades can only attack Guy with everyone else down, and stronger costs very little rage, you can use it every other turn probably.
Omg yes, I had the same strategy like 23 years ago. I would use the IQ Ring, Hi Potions and alternate the Fire Dagger IP and the Stronger spell. There was also some armor and gear that would allow you to reduce Gades' attack power, defense and speed, so you could sometimes get more hits in and survive up to 3 hits without using healing. The supporting cast would cast as many buffs/debuffs as they could before I would just let them die and let Guy take over. I think the Fire Dagger was the strongest item up to this point (you can get it in the spider cave right before this tower) so it's probably that one.

I remember this back then on the snes me with a bag of sour doritos bag and playing this game. This game was hard to beat with my kid mind but so good. The game holds a special place in my heart.

Not sure what option that is, but the service I purchased was the installation of a N64RGB board, which as far as I know doesn't have anything called "Deblur" on it
