Nobody deserves it more than you Rob! You were a huge inspiration when I was wrestling. Watching you wrestle in many offseason tournaments and wrestling in the Sunshine State Open in your 40s and making to the finals was incredible. I wrestled in the same tournament when I was a college wrestler and didn’t get anywhere and here you were more than twice my age and made it to the finals. It has inspired me to keep going, and now I coach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu guys how to wrestle at 44 years old. One regret I have was not wrestling with you more in highschool in the offseason. I came to St Thomas’s room often in the offseason and even wrestled a bit for you all in the summer, which didn’t make my coach very happy, since you all were the rival highschool 😂. You deserve this high honor, Rob. You are without a doubt a part of the Hall of Fame.
First great match. Tommy wrestled superbly. So tough for me ... I think you could have called it either way. When it is a toss up I have a tendency to give it to the person that starts the action (in this case the shot and switch to a double). I could see it called the other way, but it didn't feel like Gorman's shot was stopped or a change of direction by Tommy ... so that's why I go with the offensive wrestler (but I have no clue if that is the correct ruling or not). It is like the tilts for exposure that Tommy got several times ... Gorman shot - Tommy tilts but it is almost 90 degrees from Gorman's shot - definitely a change of direction and 2 for Tommy. The 4 is more difficult in my opinion to score.
Jesse Howard from SC in 16U 190, first time ever doing a tournament like this and hanging with those boys in that bracket finishing 5th in both Greco/Freestyle. Not too bad for a kid that has to find places to practice bc the closest place is 1hour if not 2 away that does Greco/freestyle.
What a blessing it is for my husband and I to have raised this young man “P.J. Cobbert and his Sister Shenah Cobbert (demised) under the Admonition/Exhortation of Jesus Christ 🙌🏾🙏🏾”, Serving the the Lord does and will pay off after a while. First and foremost, we thank God for allowing P.J. to be recognized on a platform with such an “Elite panel of Inductees.” We’re so grateful for our family who accompanied us: Allison Cobbert (P.J’s Wife) Kinley Cobbert (Daughter), Gabriel (Son), our mother Mrs. Helen Williams, our brother Aric, our sister Kenya, our sister Audrey, our niece Danyell, our nephew Donyell and his wife Zandra . We also thank Rusty Williams, Jr., Catfish, Nick Jansen, Bryer Jackson, Jason Davis, Heath Whiddon, Chad Nix, and Nick Crist for celebrating with us. We also want to thank Mr. McCabe for showing up through his adversities… as well as his beautiful daughter for accompanying her father to the Induction . And most of all, a huge thanks to Coach Jim Reape, P.J.’s Mentor and High School Coach 🤗 🥰Glory Hallelujah 🙌🏾🙏🏾🤗What a blessed Evening it was🙌🏾🙏🏾🤗 ❣️❣️❣️ We want to also thank the Amazing Fla. Wrestling Hall of Fame Committee Members who are making sure that our “Florida Wrestlers” don’t go unnoticed and that wrestlers are recognized for their tenacity and diligence to this Sport. Again, thank you for everything you did to accommodate everyone who was in attendance to witness F.W.H.O.F Inductees❣️❣️❣️ Grateful & Sincerely, Paul Cobbert & Wanda Cobbert (P.J.’s Dad & Mom)
I think the reason they don't give 3 for reversals is because in most scenarios you have to give up control to be in a position to score it. I also think they aren't incentivizing bottom wrestling because they are trying to move Folkstyle as close to Freestyle as they can without getting rid of it all together.
That might be true ... I'd love to talk with someone at the NCAA about the changes. The NFHS is obviously just following the NCAA's lead on this. I wonder if the NCAA (or the rules committee) is trying to make it closer to freestyle or not.
They're on the mat, and someone is shouting out "Keep wrestling, keep wrestling." What purpose does that serve ? He is on the mat twisting with his opponent, what the hell else is he going to do, take a swim ? Really I think some people just love to run their mouth.
Ryan is on point here! Pisgah Bears is heading to West Rowan today!! The black bears are a mean machine my friends! This program has 65 plus athletes between Varsity and JV! Several weight classes, we are Mariana Trench deep! This program has been built from the ground up, starting many moons ago through David Brysons Haywood Elite youth program. These kids have wrestled side by side, some of them for over a decade now. I would never guarantee a win, but know this fans....THE Nation is coming and they're bringing hell with em! Don't bet against the Milltown Mennace folks!! PHS wrestlers are just built different yaĺl....get ya popcorn ready folks!! This gonna be a real humdinger!!💪 💪 💪 GO BARRRRS!
New set of kids don’t make difference, they allowed to recruit kids that already good from different schools, different states, that’s why they will always be the best team in Florida, not fair at all
You build a great foundation and people will come. That’s how you become a power house. Not crying about the competition getting tougher. That’s makes you soft 😂😂 it’s not like they recruiting kids to stay the same. Every kid grows in that program.
@@Trillcakes im not crying abut comp getting tougher, im saying they so good, and its not fair that other schools cant transfer kids from other states to wrestle in their school
Great match from both young men. Congratulations to Albert "Tre'" Butler for the big win. After returning from a 10-month recovery from meniscus removal surgery you are looking better than your old self. Very Proud of you. Continue the hard work. You will see a big reward in the end.
