Heading down tomorrow for a couple of days of practice before the BFL Saturday. Looks like we're in for a bit of wind again this year. I've fished there twice as a co-angler. First BFL as a boater and first time with my boat on SML. Looking forward to it. Maybe I'll see you there. Tight lines!
Bring some pumpkin seeds and chartreuse worms. They bite them upper mainly hit wood and docks. That’s about it but they are some very good fish in the lake. Also go over towards river road area. It’s called. Tuckertown.
Great video, glad to know you're still hanging out with Grif after all these years and that you still love fishing. I remember you helping me catch live bait and flounder at OCS. If you're ever back in the Monterey, CA area, you're welcome aboard my new 23ft Parker, and I've got this bay dialed in from fishing the last 4 years. -Jimmy Class 05-05
Thanks Jimmy! So glad you are doing well. I will certainly take you up on that offer if I am out that way! thanks for reaching out and stay until touch! God bless
Good video. Straight to the point. I live very close to and regularly fish Smith Mountain Lake but it's pretty tough to catch fish, for me anyway. I have been wanting to fish Kerr. Think I'll work it into the schedule sometime soon.
Another great video! Love the beard and you look like you’re staying in shape. Good luck at High Rock hopefully you get your limit there. Looking forward to seeing your results.
I actually like this style of video. Straight to the point and straight to the fish catches. Pretty good tournament considering you had no practice. 👍🏻
Man I'm with you, High Rock lake is my nemesis. I've fished it 4 times now and have 1 fish to show for it. I can't figure them out to save my life. I have a tournament coming up at the end of the month and as you can see I've resorted to RU-vid for some inspiration, haha. Thanks for sharing your struggles... you definitely aren't alone!
It is bad for sure. I have one coming up in June again. No idea what I will do this time. All my buddies have struggled also. Thanks for the comments and for watching the video. Good luck on the tournament! Let me know how it goes 👊🏻🇺🇸
Great seeing you back on the water ! New year, new season. Lots good tips as usual. Happy Easter. Enjoyed it. May you persevere this year regardless of weather or boat number. Good luck at Kerr. Hello to Griff and the gang. Looks like y’all had a lot of fun and great camaraderie. Keep it coming!
Never fished this lake but I do fish Badin and Tillery a lot. In the late winter/early spring I like the floating docks with black floats. They are usually over the deeper water and allow fish to pull up on sunny days without having to travel far. Once that water starts getting around 60 I like poll docks. I know they are in shallower water and provide something for the bass to spawn or stage next to waiting to spawn. I am not a great dock fisherman but working on it. I hope to fish some BFL's next spring/summer.
Awesome video. Much respect & appreciation on being dedicated to protecting our country for many years. I’ll be headed to fish Saturday’s Lake Murray BFL...can’t wait to get the season going, out there! Digging the beard too!
Looking Good My Brother. I Really Enjoyed Your Beginning Of This Video. I Wouldn't Have Known You With That Beard Hahaha. I Will Follow You During Your Piedmont Division This Year. Semper Fi And Keep Catching em On Tight Lines!
Enjoy your videos. I don't fish your waters. I'm south of you but I do try and pick up on any technics you may have and following your tournaments and of course fish catches. I to have my tournament season approaching and will be soon out there going after them critters......good or not so good. Good luck next time on the water....
I attended USMC and Special Operations Academies but I heard the Navy's was good also. I learned about the WIFM originally back in the early 90's from my first platoon Sergeant. Thanks for the comment and for watching the videos.
Co-Angler no show no call morning of tournament. Make a rule change to boater fishes alone. If the Co called Friday night T. Director attempts to find a new Co. If none found boater fishes alone like ABA does.
We fished there right after you (Apr 9-16), first couple days we were finding them deeper, around 14 feet deep not on docks. They didn’t move up consistently around docks until about the 12th, then all of us started consistently catching them around docks and the rocks between them. We used a Buckeye spot remover and a watermelon red zoom trick worm. We put 14 in the boat 14th and 25 in the boat the 15th.
