How does the all range horn sound compared to the fibreglass?

When you step back into into history...a tradition you follow and respect yourself so deeply...when you here this..you here yourself...a life given to to our music, our tradition...the music doesn't change.. the surroundings, time and electronics do..but the music doesn't...Hup for the man who was 'The Buck From The Mountain'.

Well said! Thank you, it was wonderful visiting and stepping back in time. Thankfully, the music doesn't change, so I could experience the past as it was.

The company that made these apparently would send a letter to whoever ordered one, saying "Please give us the address of your field - we'll deliver the gramophone and you can build your house around it". Owning one of these things back then was sort of the equivalent of owning a Bugatti now.

Sit me in front of that horn and I'd be happy for days, or at least until the needles run out, wonderful machine, the all ranges really are striking in a way unlike many others, a fiberglass all range horn may be fun (be gone treacherous ideas, be gone)

I'm afraid you're not the first to have that treacherous thought Alex! But only because we already have the other wonderful contender already in fibreglass!

Hooray that this operator understands that the cabinet lid should be closed when playing a record as this greatly improves the sound quality by cutting out the needle hiss. Well done and thank you.

Another gr-grandson/alumn here: Daniel P. Moroney's (tin whistle) They were absolutely Boston-based... but recorded for Columbia in NY. Still have some 78s (and one of Dan's whistles!)

Isn't it just?! Thanks for your comment. I clicked on your photo and see that you have Kevin Henry uploaded. Great flute player. As far as I know, Coleman's piano accompaniment on this recording was provided by his uncle Bart (Herbert G.) Henry. He also accompanied Coleman on the other side of this record - Dr. Gilbert's/Queen of May. And also Tom Ward's Downfall/Reel of Mullinavat and The Blackbird.

Great machine but this piece is far better when played at a faster tempo and on a harpsichord as was originally intended.
