mia corn you hold the stick in the 2 position (straight down) for around half/three-quarters a second, then push the stick in the 8 position (straight up) and push the corresponding button at the same time
My guess is he started holding up again right after sending his first drill, probably something easier to do with a joystick but then again Vatista is probably one of the least comfortable characters to play with a regular controller
Because despite what they want you to think, an invincible reversal charged with 2 and ending with 8X is pretty much flash kick no matter how you turn it.
Awesome video thanks for the tips! I'm coming from playing Cody in sf5 so the diamond charge isn't too hard to get used to. Although the up and forward charges are gonna be tricky lol
Absolutely wrong about her C ball, you can follow it as a guard tool just like the A ball, and if it hits their guard you can safely grab them to get good damage on them.
I would add when you play her your pad/stick should never be 5 ever so she is always chargeing. She has no 6b or 6c moves so you can keep holding 6 then end with a Lazer. Useally 5c is a launcher so keep holding 7/9 right after 5c will auto jump cancel then you can be charged for [2]a/b
Even if I spam her beam commands, I have to hold down 6/4 for 60m.seconds+ until anything works with like..10% success rate. I'm using WASD and I'm beginning to think it isn't a good scheme. Also, what is the command for Drill??? It doesn't make sense to me. )':
You think you're having a bad time buddy? Pfft... TRY COMING FROM BLAZBLUE CROSSTAG BATTLE... I was REALLY good with Vatista and now I need to relearn her... (Sighs). I can't do any of my signature moves anymore and that makes me feel sad... WELP TIME TO GET MY BUTT KICKED ONLINE TRYING TO RELEARN MY MAIN!!!
Hello ! Thanks for the video, very nice and instructive. May you detail me what are Vatistas options afeter the 2Crystal is set ? What can we do on Oki to mix them up ?
after A Drill into 2orb, doing forward jump into falling j.A j82B/2C is a good option. Then it's up to opponent if he will adjust with backteching and that kind of stuff. So, After 2orb, forward jump j.A into either j82B or 2C is pretty normal one
I'm having trouble setting up diamonds, I suppose I just don't know how exactly I should be setting them up from the basic 2A>2C>2B. I play on a Xbox 360 controller with X = A, Y = B, and B = C. Is this a bad setup for Vatista or is it something I'll just have to burn into muscle memory?
With a pad it might be a little difficult.. There are players that have binded some moves to the shoulder buttons. That way you can still do combos with your thumb, while simultaneously holding a crystal with your index finger. You could also try to hold the controller with the "Claw grip", which is kinda like using an arcade stick layout for your buttons in right hand(having all the fingers free for pressing buttons), + having an analog/d-pad in the left hand for directions. Both works equally well, so feel free to try out which feels more comfortable to you.
Are there any bad matchups for Vatista, if so, what are they and how can you overcome them? I see a lot of Vatista plays struggling with either Hilda, Gordeau, or Merkava.
Vatista doesnt really have any noticeable 4:6 match ups, but against hilda she can have problems. Instead of zoning/keepaway playstyle, you are forced to play very aggressively which can be really stressful. Against Merkava she actually does really well compared to other characters, because she has got good options against Merkavas fly and reversal game in general. Gordeau is very powerful at certain ranges, but with smart shielding and well placed projectiles it is not that bad. In general Vatista is very solid and can be played in many different ways, so some playstyles might benefit more in other match ups.
thank you soo much for this, im trying to get ready for the steam release and soo many uniel videos are in all japanese. this is exactly what i needed.
