She’s always sung soooooo safe. She’s def a dancer and performance artist as she refers to herself as being. Not a singer. When I saw her live I was so pissed off because BEING A PROFESSIONAL SINGER, I knew - we all knew that she was lip-synching and it sucked. But the show was bar-none. 🤌
She was so cute back then. She's 5 years older than me but I had such a crush on her. It's to bad she was a 2 hit album wonder. I think her downfall was what they were talking about, how grounded and squeaky clean she was. That played a first, but it didn't have staying power. Paula Abdul came out and changed the game. Paula wasn't sleazy, but she had sex appeal. Debbie kept the little sister or sweet neighbor girl image. If Debbie had evolved past the choir girl act she probably would have gone a little further. I think she tried but it was to little to late. I can appreciate her morals and not wanting that type of image, but unfortunately in the end that's what people want, and that's what sells. She's trying the sexy look thing now, buts she's like 53 years old. That's not going to get her a new audience, nobody wants to see an older woman try to act sexy. Except her die hard fans from back in the day. Have you seen some of the so called DebHeads that she has sitting on the side of the stage. A few of the 55 year old men give me the creeper vibe. She still looks very good for her age though, but her voice is not what it used to be. It seems like she struggles to stay in key. Just from scanning through her recent concerts she seems to be more popular in Asia, like Manila, than in America. Her concerts in Asia have more lighting and production than they do in the states.
She was Taylor Swift before there was a Taylor Swift. She has such an amazing voice and so very talented. And yes, I had a crush on her as did so many boys of the 80’s. I have her out of the blue CD in my player now
Bare foot and rockin'🤘🏼. Great artist, she always composed her own songs. In the mid80's this hardcore metalhead had on my bootleg 'Electric Youth' t-shirt...my older military cop brother was perplexed, "what the f■?, Debbie Gibson???" I said, "What red-blooded American dude doesn't like Debbie Gibson!?" He had no response 😅😆
