Welcome, it's time for some art fun! I'm Maggie and I am creating cute art on this happy channel! Drawing, painting, inking, and relaxing with art supply swatches, art supply hauls, art supply reviews, lots of chatty sketchbook sessions and bringing you with me as I create cute art while out and about will be our mainstays. So grab your sketchbook and create some cute art with me!
About me: I’m an elder Millennial living in the United States. I minored in Art in college, but once I got into my career I didn’t make any time for art for over 15 years! In March 2020, I started drawing every day. I started this channel on about the 600th day in a row of making daily art, having filled about 20 sketchbooks in a year and a half.

The letters at the beginning of a pigment name are a code for the color family that pigment belongs to. PV is "pigment violent," PB is "pigment blue," PG is "pigment green," PY is "pigment yellow," and PR is "pigment red." I learned this just today trying to research the differences between some different colors and differences between brands' versions of those colors to find substitutes for some colors I want that are out of stock.
Love the set! Had to buy another replacement bag through another site due to long usage. Glad that there were sites where I can just buy the bag or even just to have an extra one.
Love the kit, made on myself with a wooden A4 oil palette, magnets and velcro. I can also slide that into the back of a leather writing folder to switch to an A4 sketchbook and have a sort of painting desk at the top. It can hold so much in different setups, a large magnetized watercup and 2 different paint palettes should I need two (waterpaint and Derwent graphitint) And this set up for smaller sketchbooks. So handy.
That's great you love it and are excited to use it!! But for me that is just sooo overpriced. I have almost the exact same setup I put together myself with items bought at the dollar store for just under $12...a clipboard, magnetic strip for my mini palette, bulldog clips and a similar style pouch with slots for brushes/pencils....another option for some. Cheers..😊
I usually use an A5 sketchbook, so I typically use my A5 setup (my very first video on this brand). Still my fav for normal use! I use the 5x5 most for travel where room is more of an issue because it’s so compact!
I have this bag from the same seller and it’s great, if a bit expensive! However, I’ve since discovered the exact same bag on Amazon for £14/dollars having spotted it being shown by another RU-vidr who said she found it on Amazon. It’s always interesting seeing other artists set ups - thank you for posting. I’ve now ordered the smaller version of the bag 7in x7in from Amazon for £9 - happy painting!
HALT ✋. Pigment police 🪪 🚨😂. You are under arrest for Pigment Code violation. Yellow ochre is not PY41. PY41 is Naples Yellow. Yellow ochres are usually either PY43 or PY42. You also seem to have labelled your Venetian Red as PR104. Venetian reds are typically PR101 or PR102.
New subscriber. How have I not found your channel before? We both love coffee, watercolor, and fountain pens! You have gorgeous and unique Leonardo pens. I have four, but no twins to yours. I do have twin with Lao at KenChanKrafts, the LMZ Blue Aloha. 💙
@@CreatingCuteArt He shared and compared the differences in our pens on his channel when we first got them. I have the LMZ Alga, Angel Skin, and Lavanda. All have different nibs and trim. 💙💚💜🤍
Nice line of products. I would like to mention that the back of both bags appear to be MOLLE compatible and the straps allow the bag to be strapped to another MOLLE item like a larger pack equipped with MOLLE or a MOLLE belt of some sort. The straps are threaded through alternating loops from one device to the other then snapped.
I've been watching a lot of these, and I still don't understand what all the Velcro is for on the front of the bag and how do you use all those straps on the back?
Hello, first I really love your work and since you asked, I don’t prefer either of those boxes to store the markers.,the 18 metallics and the 32 as you said,it’s hard to fish them out. Then, and that’s important they have to be stored horizontally , so you can’t keep them standing up. With 18 or even the 32 I keep them in a long acrylic container. The 60,again those boxes are not meant to be stored. For that many I would get a pencil case,or marker case, each one goes into a loop. I am pretty neat freak lol, but ya I like them organized. I wanted to ask you what is the best paper you recommend for the acrylic pens? I know you use mostly sketchbooks, I am just a colorist,I can’t draw 😟. And most coloring books from Amazon have very thin paper. So depending if I use colored pencils ( not so much anymore,my hands hurt from arthritis) or alcohol markers, watercolor brush pens( but they are really streaky) acrylic markers/pens I copy the page I want to color on a nice paper and that’s how I do it. I didn’t figure out yet exactly the best paper for acrylic pens. Even the watercolor paper absorbs too fast, if I use brush tips I like a smooth surface, and I do like the brush tips. So, I thought I ask you what paper you like best for the acrylic pens/markers. Thank you
You nailed it, watercolor paper isn't good for this, but marker paper is great. Honestly, even a thick copy paper is great for acrylic markers! Most of my sketchbooks want to pill with poscas but the brush pens do better because of the soft tips. I took them out of the box and put in a pencil case so that they can be horizontal. You get it! 👏🤗
@@CreatingCuteArt Awesome! Actually Ohuhu came out with a very nice marker pad, it's not those really thin ones , but it's not extremely heavy, I don't know now what GSM is, I can look it up later. Thank you!
Hello, I just found your channel, those markers look and perform great ( from what i’ve seen so far). I realize this video is 2 years old, the link you provided it doesn’t work anymore, I mean it takes me to Grabie, but not that product. Actually on the box I saw the name Guagna, I think that’s the brand name. Amazon has some acrylic markers under this name, but they are not the same. I was wondering if maybe you know where else could I find those? I would really appreciate it😊
Well shoot! I don't know where you can get these exact ones if that link no longer works, but Ohuhu (one of my fav brands for many mediums) has a set that looks exactly the same, if you go on Amazon and search for: Ohuhu 40 Colors Acrylic Paint Pens
The fact that with just a minor amount of practice one could get similar results with a nearly thirty dollar discount is stunning Also your owl is so awesome!
I got a thick Talens 5x5 in here, but it was about as big as it would get in this particular size! He does custom orders, so you can send the specs for your preferred sketchbook size and he can accommodate that!
Part of the reason I like vinyl paint is colored pencil goes over it so well and I think better than acrylic. I do a lot of coloring in books and when painting acrylic for large areas was difficult to go in and add color pencil on top to tone or add details. I switched to vinyl and I am now having more success. This is important in big metamorphic books like Kerby Rosanes because they are huge and I need paint and pastel as underlayers so I can finish these books because I die LOL.
Hi, Maggie! It is very, very good to 'see' you again! About the box: Would it help to fit a higher collar inside the present one? Looking at it at 6:20 it looks as though it would be easy enough. You could match the colour with the one already there, too. So to answer your question: it's probably pretty obvious that I don't like this type of box, especially as the common thought is that brush pens, like felt tips, should be stored on their side. Part of me would love a pencil / coloured pencil . brush pens, etc set of drawers, but I also like them in their packets for taking whichever of them I want to take out with me, or on my worktable, so just now, if I see nice sets of such drawers, I look, sigh, and move on, as I haven't yet seen any in which I could store them in their packets!* I don't think such a thing exists, so I will be content with storing them in the re-purposed box! *I'm thinking in particular of my collection of Faber Castell brush pens, which are either in their original sturdy wallets or in an equally sturdy version which I made for those I bought separately. Also my Staedtler fineliners, in theirs. How do you store your coloured / watercolour pencils? Are they sorted in an organiser pencil case, still in their tins / other? Mine are each in 72-pencil cases and I usually end up taking the whole thing (one or the other) because I never know where I'm going to end up / what I'm going to be drawing / painting when I go out! Just as well I have a shopper on wheels to take everything!!! (But I do have a set of 12 children's pencils in the grab and go bag!) I loved the little montage at the end, and it's very good to know that you've been creating for yourself, and such fun results, too, if the little montage is a taster!!! So, yes, I'm looking foward with great anticipation to seeing the sketchbook tour. 🤗 😊
I tried the Arrtx ‘acrylic’ markers- they look nice when swatched on paper, but these are not acrylic paint markers as Posca. I used them on wood discs last Christmas and was disappointed that they smeared- not a true acrylic paint marker! ~ Kathy B.
I don’t have these. I recently purchased the Faber Castell brush pens and I really like the size of the pen and the colors. Fun to work with 🎉I like to keep my pens laying down in one of my organizing drawers laid out in the rainbow method. It’s easier on my brain ❤. Nice demonstration 😊
That sounds very aesthetic but also user friendly! I love the Pitt artist pens and tombows for brush markers that are water soluble, and these for acrylic (and Ohuhu for alcohol based!)
Wow, they do look like a 10/10 indeed ❤ If only I wouldn’t have ordered / bought as many fountain pens this month 😅 Definitely on my to have list as I have the same issues with Posca Markers as you. I love the brush tips on my Ecoline Markers and as this is a new generation of Arrtx’s acrylic brush markers they seem to have perfected it. Super happy to see a video from you and looking forward to seeing the Sketchbook Tour 😊
What fun! I love that this was a shame-free, pressure- free sketchbook. The portrait of your friend’s dog who suddenly passed was so thoughtful, let alone beautiful. I know she will love the memory, and hold on tight, once it’s on a pillow. On a happier note, just love Tuffy with his mouth stuffed with his Christmas narwhal!
