I HAVE DEALT WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE WITH PENN, AVET AND ACCURATE..for sure Accurate has always taken care of my needs, they have even been nice enough to customize gears for my reel. I now have a valiant dorado 600nn in two speed with 6to1high gear and a low gear, usually stock that reel would have come with a 5 to 1 gear ratio........I love the way accurate allows you to customize your reel they offer a variety of colors arm lengths and knobs which is way more than other companies are doing. I love seeing the twins involved in the product that speaks volumes for them its not just about revenue clearly.
Do you know about how many pounds of pressure you're using? I've got a device that I can get about 15lbs of pressure which is extremely tight but I'm nervous on my 50's. I'm running 100# hollow.
I use a scale on the line that is threaded through the guides on the rod. Set the drag make loop in the line and make several pulls off the tip and look at the scale. Drag should be 1/3 to 1/4 to breaking strength of line.
@@AccurateFishingReels I was referring to spooling. How many pounds of pressure coming off the spool onto the reel. I figure if I'm running 25lbs of drag on a reel id want somewhere in that neighborhood to spool the line on but that's a lot of pressure.
I just bought a 600X reel; literally arrived today. Any reason why I can't just install all weights and then take one off at a time when I need to? I figure it would be easier for me to do that. I'll be using this primarily for casting and jigging.
All the weights are on it. If you are going to take the reel apart that is where we see problems alot. Just people trying to figure out how to space the weights and put it back together with all weights in race. If you do it we are here to help if you need it. I have been using all sizes for the last 2 years and the weights that were put in should help a proficient caster get the distance and help someone learning minimize the backlashes. We can throw surface iron a country mile with it.
@@AccurateFishingReels So there were 6 weights already installed on it. I opened it up and there were 4 pins available. I installed 2 more weights. Put it back together and tried it out at the park; casting 120g lure worked great! This reel is great! Thanks for the info; I felt like I casted a good 50 yards a bit of effort with no backlash. I'm sure I would've casted further without backlash if I really put some muscle into it.
Awesome video guys! 😁😁. It’s funny that I didn’t remember how many pins were set. I guess that’s because I never opened the reel up. That goes to show that the reel is good to go straight out of the box. 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️. I’ll shoot another one showing the innards. 😁😁
what is the real reason why we didn't get the cast control outside like the older boss extremes? Would have been nice to be able to make quick adjustments on the cast control while casting. Lighter lures may require more cast control vs a heavier jig, not to mention if the wind starts kicking up, jigs like the tady 45 wont fly as far in the wind causing easier birds nest. I keep having this dream the Accurate will produce the first ever chameleon color that changes color when the metal on the reel changes heat due to being exposed to the sun.
Did you know that on those kinds of reels there's a little hole you can thread the braided fishing line through so you can tie it in the center before you wind it up.

No sir its a Bimini Knot that has been around for years. Very strong knot used to attach wind on leaders for trolling or Big Game fishing. One of those knots you should know if you are traveling known Big game locations. Thanks for the interest.

my tern 2 silver got a lot of scratches any idea how i can buff out the scratches and make it look good again? thinking of using a light sandpaper in a circular motion and a buffer and car polish solution....thanks
Don't use sandpaper it will ruin the corrosion resistance of coating. I have used rubbing compound then wax on them but the scratches are still visible somewhat. That has been my experience.
hello Ben i just picked up a tern 500 star drag i think its the early model trying to get some specs on the reel for braid capacity i'm looking to put on 65 hollow core 16 strand at 34mm
The 300 valiant appealed to me because it's under 10oz. I know it's weird but I'm from the pacific northwest and i've used abu baitcast reels drifting on the rivers...but i find them under powered for the 30+ pound chinook salmon in the fall (the maingear bends at times). Sooo..I saw the valiant 300 in a store and it looked amazing and small...so i just was hoping i could drift/free spool with it...but with no adjustment it could be a problem float fishing....thoughts? i'd reely like a beefier baitcaster...and valiant is gorgeous.
We have one that comes with a clicker but that is it. The TXD 300 comes with the spool tension knob. Check it out at Accuratefishing.com. Appreciate the nice words.
There is no cast control on the little guy. In fact the BV line does not have a spool tension knob. If you are talking TXD its on the right of all the reels which tightens the spool from too much side to side.
At last!! I have 7 bx 400/500 in my fishing 'family' (friends) all of which have had the AR bearings fail.The addition of those rubber washers is long overdue! Despite regular cleaning (& applying grease externally) capillary action sucks water in from the handle side to the AR, eventually destroying it. The early reels had a very sml o ring on the drive shaft but this did little to stop the water. Many years ago i made a tool out of some threaded studding for winding the old bearings out and winding new ones in. This has worked fine but the rubber washers will hopefully eliviate the water ingress. Can i fit these to my single speed reels and would i need different size bushings??
I told the brick and mortar guy I try to frequent to order me a reel. I wanted a left handed Accurate reel and thought the Valiant might do the trick. Well looking at my 50% deposit slip it looks like I’m getting the 30 and not the 40 I thought I had orders. Things will work out and I’m sure the knucklehead I ordered from will make it right even though I may be the one who wasn’t clear. I’m gonna be under gunned when it comes to catching a football. Well I got that Accurate reel I’ve been waiting for.
My experience is using a longer leader is better for body chaffing or if they tail wrap. Seen many lose fish with shorty leaders. I go 6 foot of 200 mono. Jmo
I haven’t had a chance to fish my tern 2 400, but my first impression is that the free spool out of the box wouldn’t be great for fly lining a sardine without taking out the cast control. I’m also disappointed that the clamp won’t work on my modern rods because it doesn’t clear the gear box and nuts are too small in length to secure.
Chris as for the freespool, remember the cast control is always on and it will cast a live bait perfect once you adjust the spool tension know on the right side of the reel. Everyone is using them for live bait especially the 400 and 500 sizes for the school tuna. If you notice on the new rod you have they should have a solid reel seat. Most rods coming out now are designed to be used without a clamp. It is also much more comfortable fishing all day without your wrist hitting the clamp. This is what we have learned over the last several years but personal preference is important. We have a few videos on this channel of the new reel if you have not checked them out. Try the reel without the clamp and let us know what you think.
Most important thing is to get enough wraps on the knot and make sure you cinch it properly. Thats the deal with all knots. I have been using the FG a lot more and really like it throwing poppers for school or larger tuna. No problems.
I saw another video, where the guy put the line through the top loop gap, then the Bottom one, WHICH IS THE WRONG WAY!!!!, You did it the CORRECT WAY. Ilove this knot, use it most of the time.
We have been fishing the BV2-800 at night for jigs on fish upto 150 to 200lbs with good success. If you want the ultimate tracker the 12t is a beast and it have caught Yellowfins up to 300 lbs with stacked braid. It is built to pull on larger models with good success.
