thank you friends for the advice I received my aurora Air it is just incredible now to see how old it is but I find it light, nice design and easy to throw 2gr lures quite far
Another great review as always. Can’t believe how cheap some of these rods are! Would be nice to have it strapped to the back pack as a spare when targeting trout.
I wanted to adjust my handles to take some of the slop out. Would you happen to have the shim size and link? Also, I’ve noticed you have your knobs upgraded, did you just replace the knobs or the whole handle?
I just replaced the knobs, the handle itself is very good. Most of the handles on AliExpress are longer, thicker and heavier than this one so I kept it. As for the shims, I have a while bunch because they give you extras when you buy knobs and handles. They are available in AliExpress though and you could also vary your bearing thickness to get the same affect.

You could replace the bushing with bearings (that's what I typically do) and you can get the bearings in 3 different thicknesses. 4x7x2.5 x2 and x1.7. first number is inner diameter, then outer then thickness.
The 2.4 is rated a little higher casting weight rating, wonder if you’ve noticed a difference in on the spinning version? I have the 2.4 casting on the way!
0.2gr is crazy, a bare hook must weigh that…1m of 4lb leader must weigh more than 0.2gr…so you’re really casting your line rather than a lure 😅 which leads me to think you’re better off fly fishing when you go that low… Crazy to see that they even copy between themselves 😮 Another great review 👌🏼
Yea it's pretty crazy, I have a jighead and plastic that weights 1g, still trying to optimise how to maximise distance. Apparently a short leader works best.
Interesting reel, tolerances definitely seem to be quite tight, which is good. Amazingly lightweight, you’d need a very light rod and butt-heavy to feel the combo balanced on your hand. I’m interested to hear your thoughts when you use it. Once again, a very well done review 👏🏼
Good to see this peculiar blank rod getting a few bends! You are right, I would have expected it to be faster but under load you can see it bends a little further down the blank
You’ve already presented a few but every time I see these reels I just can’t stop thinking how the hell are they able to release an entire functioning reel for the price of a single Daiwa handle knob 😅 amazing. Best thing is that they seem reasonably well made, good job providing the reviews mate, I’m sure it helps a lot of people make up their minds before buying
Thanks mate, yeah these really cheap ones usually have some shortcomings. This particular one, the knobs seem plastic and the cover on the ends of the knobs aren't threaded. Casts pretty good above 3 grams.
Yea that's one thing that puts me off this rod. I had a bit of a cast and it's casts good, long, cheap and low casting but not a fan of the squishy bit and full length cork knob is a big ugly for a long butt.

So you don’t think this is as good for sub 1 gram lures as illusion (besides their gram rating on rod, based on testing it)? I Have a feeling their numbers are wrong after seeing the listing inaccuracies, unless you feel its truly for heavier weights. I like that this one has real casting guides look vs spinning style on the illusion casting rod.
I casted a 1.5g spoon really well, loaded nicely. I’ll try 1g (and maybe lighter). I asked biutifu and they stand by the rating. I also casted 4g (approx, rapala cd4) and it casted fine too. I can also test 6 and up and let you know but seems pretty legit. Worst case maybe it’s a .6-7 like some other rods.

Same question more stiff light action for small bass lures covering 4 - 6g range (1/8oz and 1/5 oz lures work well in my area)
Mavllos Ultima is a fast action rod 1-7g. I have a review on that, not the best looking rod in my opinion but it's just so good. Lots of people have said positive things about them since. Purelure Zero is also fast and has a big casting weight range, as does the ai-shouyu phantom. I have reviews on all of these. Check those then let me know if you are looking for something more specific.
I had a biutifu travel rod, i would say it looks the goods and felt lighter than its printed lable. I was a little but annoyed with the 1 fuji guide but to be fair its very cheap and feels nice.
You should pick the highest weight based on how quickly you want the lure to sink. This is determined by water depth and also water flow and current. Also some species will prefer a slower fall. Best rule is to go the lightest you can for the situation to give the most realistic presentation. Casting into 1m of water you may want to throw 1g but if it’s a river with fast water maybe you need 3G for the same effect.
Haven’t got one but used 3 dark wolf ultra variants, micro monster is good. Maybe not the absolute lightest casting of the variant but breaking is good. Solid option.
Yes I agree, I would have like to have seen more guides on those rods. Also they are on the heavier side of what I typically used. Haven’t even used my Grupla yet and had it for a couple of months.
Do you think it uses the same blanks, just different labelling? This is common in China where mass production is king and large generic production runs allow other companies to assemble and rebrand. Also, the manufacturing plants mostly use a batch quality control method which means it's cheaper to reject a whole batch once a non-conformance is detected, rather than checking each individual unit. They sell the whole reject batch on. But within the batch there are always a number which are within tolerances and they are used by the buyers. Some are only marginally out of spec and may also be used. Would love to hear your views on how it casts and performs on the water. Great review. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, I believe this is from the same factory. I asked biutifu and they more or less said that it’s the same rod with a “stronger blank”. The mifine definitely cannot cast over 3G and is a true XUL although this also has a .7mm tip.
Yes for sure, I would say it's top 2 of the Chinese rod brands. Tsurinoya being the other. Many people in the BFS community pages on Facebook use Purelure. There are some sales on now btw
I am looking for another xul casting rod. Enjoy watching your videos because you give a true aspects of the rods where some manufacturers I'm just rolling the dice hoping I get what I want.
@@yep.fishing it is a sougayilang 5.5 line rate is 1to 6 and lure rate is 0.5 to 8 grams . It is a good rod compared to others I got from sougayilang unfortunately it is discontinued. Was checking out the resolute and the rosewood on Amazon but still looking for another rod in case something happens
Check AliExpress, the mavllos rods like the resolute are much cheaper there. Also the range is way more. If you are not checking AliExpress you are missing out! If there is a reason you are sticking to Amazon (like trust issues etc) then I can try and recommend you something from Amazon.
Hey man, I looked up the Kestrel Kast King 1000 and for line capacity it suggests 220 yards (200m) of 6lb line. Given most braids are sold in 150m lengths, how do you fill the spool with 6lb line?
Most people in that scenario would use cheap monofilament as backing to fill up the spool. You could either get something the same diameter and put 50m on or if it's thicker out less

Hi, thanks for watching. It’s a little less than double the price of the AA but not double the performance, you could look at it that way. Initial impressions seem like it’s very good and possibly comparable to the silver feather in terms of quality. Then again I haven’t seen enough feedback from others to say if they have any quality issues with the GIU like people have with the Aurora Air. The Silver feather is about 40% more expensive for me than the GIU at its current low price. So comparing those it’s worth it so far.
Tough question, either Purelure or Tsurinoya. It depends on how you fish, maybe one of those brands have the perfect rod. For me I really love the Purelure Zero

Initial thoughts are that it's obviously lighter and seemingly with better quality control. Also, just imagine the handle alone. I bet you cant but a handle like that with knobs for under about 12usd
Yes, it is very user friendly. The braking system is really good and you can’t cast a wide range of lure weights. If you can afford it then it’s a very solid choice. Never heard anyone complain about it
Mine has the same gap visual issue, not a big deal. I dont think the .2gr castbility is a accurate rating, at least not with mine. Im curious to see how low you go, the distance, and with what rod. I used the Mifine illusion, its supposed to throw .2gr. I was able to cast .2gr but only around 18'. I was hoping for around 30'.
Damn thats a light reel 😮 It's so much lighter than any spin reel ever can be, it seems. It still has the goods with a 4kg drag to handle a very decent sized fish 👍.
I think Ricardo reviewed a spinning rel that was either 115 or 117. Surely they can get the weight down further but there isn’t really any race to 100g going on, only in BFS
@yep.fishing once its below 250g reel only it doesn't matter for me. I can cast that all day no issues, so these tinny reels going sub 100g is crazy. I love those classic round reels very nostalgic, but prefer the newer low profile ~100-200 size for palming.
There are some new smaller round reels coming out. One by bearking and one by lizard. I want to get one but the nicer ones are pretty pricey. Like over 500 even for the Chinese one Loongze

Yea maybe the spring is now completely flat on both ends. I will take a look at it after I test it first. I’m sure it’s no big deal, just an observation.
If you examine the screws that attach the frame to the side plates, you'll see they are extremely small. The drive is not sharply defined and I couldn't find a bit that would fit properly. Guess that explains the lack of a reel diagram, as I can't imagine attempting to take the reel apart for tuning, etc.
@@yep.fishing out of the box is probably great. but over time it will show weaknesses. it is too expensive compared to daiwa. by the way, I love tsurinoya products, especially easy shinere 2 inch :) also, with legalis I have a great balance on every rod, so it's not a problem in that few tens of grams
