Just played this game for the first time, kept thinking about this video. Ya, it's not too hard to get unlucky and roll your car or get melted by a dude you didn't see but it's probably the most breezy gta before IV.
The funniest thing here is that Jim was bang on the money saying Phil is the reason games have regressed. The God of War devs held a conference on how to lead a player through your game showcasing Phils gameplay. They literally use this fucking gouty single cell organism as a case study for how to implement hand holding. Amazing
If Rockstar wanted to put GTA onto the mobile scene with the type of mobile ads (that at least I) see all the time now, they could take DSP gameplay footage, remove the watermark in the bottom-left corner, and cut it off when the "MISSION FAILED" icon pops up.
I was so young I could barely even fly the planes when it came out but all the buttons and sounds memorized me even with the 5-20fps I must have been getting back then
8:03 Modern video game hand holding has only progressed. And I don’t think it is good for the kids. When I was 6 I would get lost for hour in the first Halo, that is immersive. More so than these "open worlds" where everything is highlighted. In Halo, press down on d pad and you'd always get a waypoint directing you exactly where you had to go. And just like other games, they make the map more like 1 lane opposed to a maze with dead ends. Seems everything is competing with the games on your phone which can deliver the fastest back to back dopamine hits.
I really hope the developers of the game read this message - you guys rock!! I remember playing this game on my first PC (had the AMD equivalent of Pentium 4), it was so awesome! Would definetely pay to play a modern game like this one!! My favourite mission was defending fob Torawa from the Russian nuclear bombers!
It's crazy how much content was dropped from the final product, not to mention that the tone of the trailer isn't comedic at all. I truly DO believe that this early Kabuto model looks better than the final one, specially the face design.
..Love retrogames mostly the "so-called" VideogamesGoldenEra (1996\2002) but this game was fucking hard, always die in 1st mission/1st enemy plane on my back :(((
I love Jimbo's commentary on DSP-after DSP almost died from the exploding car that DSP flipped over. You thought he got lucky, until Jimbo says: "Oh, hey. At least you got a gun, you stupid shit. Why don't you put the barrel in your mouth and end it now? It's not gonna happen. Just . . . Pull the trigger." Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse (as in hilarious), DSP runs out into the street without looking, and gets hit by the very car that DSP is supposed to stop. WASTED! . . . Again! Holy shit! LMFAO! 🏃🚗
