You can't bring a knife to a gun fight.That bait casting outfit is undersized for what your doing.I am not going to tell you that you can't land a bull red with that gear,but keep in mind your going to be releasing them and your stressing them out this way.
The casting setup is more than adequate for fish of that size. 400 series reel paired with a heavy action rod. Gets them in almost twice as fast than the spinning set up I was also using in this video. Every fish bolted off once back in the water
I have the pro Angler 14 absolutely love the stability and the room only down fall was after launching and retrieving it I decided to buy a trailer and that definitely solved the weight problem

I used the Dobyns Fury Mag heavy until I broke it in this video. I just got an Evergreen Combat Stick heavy, and I’ve heard some great things about it!
Great video, but why are you releasing them? They are invasive and supposed to be destroyed. NJ Fish & Game: The Fish Code identified thirteen such species (see below). These fish are considered to possess the potential for becoming a significant threat to indigenous animals, the environment, or public safety. Possession and/or release of live potentially dangerous fish species is prohibited and if these species are encountered while angling they must be destroyed.
I release just about all of them that I catch. It is legal to release them in same body of water that they were caught in. There’s been a huge misconception of the impact these fish create. Since introduction, there has not been any science proving negative effects. In fact, some bass fishing has actually become even better since in areas like the Potomac River. They are a blast. I’d rather help grow em big and keep some every once in a while
Did u kill it? Those are invasive I actually had to do a science project on it😅😂 and if you catch one of those it’s a law u have to kill them. Apparently there pretty tasty too lol. Nice catch tho
This was in mid june. Yes, until the end of august is a great time of year. The initial main spawn has passed, but in most areas some fish will continue to spawn and be in fry. Never a guarantee thing, but there are usually a decent amount of fry around until mid September
