Went to my churches traditional service for the first time the Hymns were familiar because I went to a “blended” which has organ hymns and readings but not this liturgy but after going learned how based liturgy is
And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. -Jeremiah 29:13 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. - John 3:16 Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out. -Acts 3:19 If you are in North America, please go check out any of the churches available to you: OPC, PCA, Rpcna, Urcna, or a Canrc church (These are conservative and actual Presbyterian/Reformed churches) If you can’t find one of the conservative presby churches then, maybe an Lcms Lutheran church. If you’re Scottish, I recommend the Free Church of Scotland and the APC. (Different from the Church of Scotland) If you’re English I recommend the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in England & Wales and the Free Church of England (Different from the Church of England) Also online you can look up church finders for each of the groups, it will show you locations. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. - Hebrews 10:24-25
The hymn was written by Samuel Medley, a Baptist. It belongs to ALL Christians (and even the Mormons sing it - whether we want to call them Christians is another matter). I was confirmed Lutheran at age 16 and still love Lutheran theology, even though I am now Anglican due to where I live. But we are all brothers and sisters in Christ, whether we are Lutheran, Anglican, Baptist, Catholic, Orthodox, etc.
I grew up in a Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod. I was baptized, confirmed, married, and baptized my 3 children in the Lutheran Church. I am now a member of ELCA, which is so wonderful. We had this hymn sung at my mother's funeral, as well as my grandmother's funeral. I want it sung at my funeral, as well.
In the begining God laid his seed and with that expression his holly garden took on meaning that will made fruit n fed our lords spiritual members. Apart from who is only nothing exists
i think this is where whiteness really hurt the church...because martin luther was the ultimate discoverer of the bible and lutheranism is what causes the reformation to take hold of education and enlightenment to bring the western european-led world to the highest level that we as man, have known so far. its like god and knowledge allowed for such a triumph over ignorance and dogam. but most people that believe in luther's understanding of the truth feel shy to convert because they aren't white or german if they are not themselves from there...but god is everywhere and just because one group lucked out in finding the best method doesn't mean only they have the answer.
This will be a hymn at my funeral. It will accompany the OT lesson from Job. My others will be Praise to the Lord the Almighty, Thine is the Glory( for the NT lesson) Praise to the Lord the Almighty and of course A Mighty Fortress.
