Initially thought of not speaking on the issues related to amenities, quality of constructions or life in Newtown but after spending few years being a resident makes me unapologetic against the narrative by some chest thumping individuals fooling & promoting hard to sell random Flats(s) here, I feel now it's my responsibility to let you know the facts about the most discussed topic 'Drinking Water'. Firstly, Newtown has the same or even worse water quality than Saltlake or Laketown. Anyone can verify the same from any reputed water purifier companies or their support team. Secondly, benefits from filtrated water reach to less than 25% residents making your stay troublesome for next many years. Anyone can verify the same by visiting even a big complex, forget about the cooperative units like us. The situation here is horrible with strained tiles, chocked taps or frequently damaged pipes. Your RO purifier would need 5 times more service than any regular RO fitted somewhere in central Kolkata. Alternatively, anyone can buy water drums depending on their usage. But NKDA is definitely ramping up its reach with beautification of surroundings and cleanliness. With growing random construction activities, I'm doubtful about reaching proper amenities for all residents soon! Hope this would help
Be very cautious to step in to their(godrej properties) trap. I am a direct sufferer of their ugly business tactics of raising money from their clients in instalments without keeping their commitments of completing the project in time and thus engaging your hard-earned money without any return. They intentionally lag far behind in every project for reason best known to them. They failed even to hand over all blocks of their first project, named godrej seven at Joka site, though scheduled date of handover has long been passed. The company was allowed extension of one year by RERA authority for completion of the project. In spite of that, they failed to stick to that extended date of hand over.Even, Blocks ,which have been handed over, are hardly accessible as roads and other infrastructural facility have not been completed and so, after handover, not a single flat owner has come to live their. You can verify it on visiting the site. The plight of the second phase of their project at joka, named ostensibly as 'orchard at godrej seven' is more deplorable. They themselves declared in there registered deed the date of handover as june 2025, but the project is almost in it's infancy. There representatives themselves are apprehending at least two years delay of the project. So Be cautious to invest in any project of this company( godrej properties)
