There is also the story of Sri PMI stopping by a famous Footwear shop, run by a known person to musicians, where PMI asked for a chappal that costs Rs. 100! Footwear shop owner apparently threw up his hands saying he did not have anything that expensive. But when PMI insisted, the owner said, he will have to take a random one and say that it costs Rs. 100! :). Narrated by a music lover living in the United states, who had learnt from Sri Kittamani Iyer - a disciple of Maharajapuram Visvanatha Iyer.
Very wonderfully narrated and shows your humility to accept that your student became an acharya in this instance. Wonderful to know this Sir. Thanks for sharing 🙂🙏
Your description of Shishya becoming Acharya shows your humility. Only with that trait you could recognize and openly acknowledge that aspect. For that 🙏🙏
Namaskaram Sir.Episodes are v informative, enjoyable and need of the hour. You are contributing immensely in many ways by interacting with school and college students. My personal opinion is Bhakti is the JEEVADHAARA of carnatic music.🙏
Very interesting and motivating Sir, looking forward for next episode.Curious to know the incident with your student which you hinted.Pls post next episode soon
One anecdote from Sri Mysore Vasudevachar’s memoir …he used to practice until his death. Apparently he used to say - if you don’t practice music even for one day, then it parts from us!
Gurumurthy sir can easily tell PM Modi to immediately SCRAP the illegal HR&CE act of the British era to save temples from govt instead of beating around the bush and creating 100 page documents.
Some years back, in Sivagami Pethachi auditorium there was a documentary on the great master called mrudangamaargadarshi. I dont think its available on youtube. Is it available for the general public in any other way?
