If you are really living here in McAllen, please go back to the Pacific Northwest. Better yet, go to the western seaboard and wait for it to fall into the Pacific. Do us all a favor and delete this stupid video
If you plan on going to RGV for a nice House then thats what you will get, but Besides that you don't fully get to enjoy the environment or landscape like other places. So if you're the type of person who'd rather sacrifice having fun things to do, enjoying nature, and enjoying the land scape and weather in exchange for options to have a great house then RGV is for you, but if you want a place that you can enjoy that comes with fun things, nature and decent house then RVG isnt the place to be. I was there for 3yrs specifically for the housing market until I realized that its gets way to Hot out and not enough to do anyways, so either your in the house or eating food. I couldn't see my life going that way so letting go of a dream house to build a dream life in a city that cost a little more, sounds like a better choice to me. I can't sell my happiness and fulfillment for a nice house any more, when I could just push myself to make more money and get a house some where I really enjoy. Theres a difference between being alive and living the life you want instead of stealing just because a house is nice and affordable. Its a sacrifice that you have to figure out whats more important the House or a balanced and enjoable life style in an environment thats beneficial to you Spirit.
Adding a few things: 1. Construction is so bad that construction sites look exactly the same 5 years later, and as soon as one is done, the next ramp or intersection is next, it's a never ending cycle. 2. There is little violence that spills over, however, you are definitely living next to mafia money. It's so overt, there will be a $1M mini mansions in a neighborhood of $100k homes. 3. Corruption among politicians and law enforcement. It's confined to mostly drug trade, but it's very bad.
In California, the property taxes Once local adjustments are factored in, the effective property tax rate in Sacramento is around 1.3% of your property's purchase price. And CA State tax so how much is it over there? Also other fees like smog etc
@@LivinginMcAllenTX except you also have Tornado's, Hail Storms?? , Humidity...among other issues and humid sticky air…. Guessing they make up for no state tax by higher sales and property taxes?
Been down here 20 years. Only reason I’m still here is I can’t afford to move out yet. It’s very subtle, but among the Hispanic population down here, there is a very quiet level of contempt for anyone who is white. It’s a level of animosity that apparently goes back for generations.
The pay is dismal & theres not much to do other than get drunk. It gets exciting if you go south of the border to Nvo. Progresso or Reynosa. Other than the close proximity to Mexico, McAllen is not great. I'm a valley native and I had to leave to get opportunity & work experience in my line of work. Even after coming back, I have absolutely no local business or work here. The mentality if everything here is cheap/discounts, yet people that work at the grocery store or at JC Penney will be out there driving a Raptor somehow? Its definitely a different culture compared to up -north. The best part of the valley is family. Unless someone is offering big money & relocation fees for moving in & potentially out to live here, don't make the move.
where exactly are these city and rural views from? these are not in this part of the world. its flat as a pancake/tortilla and definitely not german or north east american architecture , geography and vegitation.
the real estate industry conned midwesternerners into moving to this "valley" starting back in the early 20th century. they thought it was lush farmland. rolling hills and reality sort of hit them in the face . its a great place, but its not iowa or new york city either one. a more realistic video would be better. and more honest. its nice in winter when its -20 and 6ft of snow up north. but summers are like south florida. hot , humid and buggy.
I don't know what kind of drunk nonsense you pulled this crap from. It doesn't even average over 100 here in the summer, and it averages with lows in the 50s in the winter and highs in the lower 70s. Whoever made this channel clearly doesn't live anywhere near McAllen or the valley.
You’re absolutely right! McAllen specifically, and South Texas in general, is a horrible place to live. Too hot, too dusty, and not a bunch of rich, white liberals. Please stay away.!!
Its funny how gringos flock in droves into predominantly non-Anglo areas because of different circumstances, and no one says anything. But have minorities move to a predominantly Anglo area and their fangs, & claws come out.
I used to think that but I have been pleasantly surprised as of late. There are two major concert and event arenas, the Payne, and the Bert Ogden. There are the Vipers , if you like B-ball. Two month ago, we went to UTRGV and heard their symphony orchestra perform The Planets, by Holst, and it was amazing. We enjoyed it so much.
All the video clips of nice-looking areas are not in McAllen. It's a bit of a sham when all the clips are of other cities. The only thing to do is eat, get fat, cause it's way too hot to exercise outdoors...glad I am moving away soon.
my husband works in IT, we are looking to relocate from CA. We are tired of the overreach in state government and the laws are largely against parents... its been a long time coming but we are basically just looking for affordability & health for our family.
I grew up in McAllen, and was just back visiting a couple of weeks ago. The footage in this video is super false. The residents are super resentful of tesla because it's f*cking up Boca Chica and the wetlands/shoreline, and people are pushing out the culture when muskrat imports them to work for his wh*te supremacist companies. If you don't speak Spanish, you will need to become fluent in a hurry, and if you speak it poorly and with your bland accent, don't expect anyone to help you do anything. The area is 92% Mexicano/Tejano who have been there for several generations - no one is going to do you any favors, especially if you're from the Pacific Northwest, where they already don't like multicultural people to begin with - and yes, I know Puyallup, it's where one of the Concentration Camps for Japanese people was located during the second world war, Camp Harmony, where the fairgrounds are now located. Texas looks affordable on its face, but the property taxes will nullify that. There is no regulation with power companies and you will have to negotiate your energy consumption rates every few months, with no guarantee that you'll be warm during inclement weather when it occurs. Weather... it was 110°F and 95% humidity during my visit in early May. It's not even July or August yet. ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas) is already asking people to turn off their air conditioning to conserve power and it's not even the hottest part of the year yet. Then there's cartel activity... Don't move there. These youtube people and real estate people would love to sell you an idea of a place, but it's all false. Unless you're going to spend a month down there in August to see what it's REALLY like, don't let these sales people take advantage of you because you won't be able to get out of the bad investments in which you'll inevitably get yourself caught up. I know it doesn't seem like it, but Florida is actually better for your investment dollars. Don't let yourself get taken for a ride by these people.
Let me guess the creator from this channel is from California and is trying to get people to move to the valley using his realtor company. Those homes being constructed in a rush with lots of issues and paid off home inspectors. Nice!
Texas will nickel and dime you. Property, sales tax, gas, utilities. So you're not saving much unless you're taking home upwards $75k or own a business.
The place is trash , the entire valley is boring and dead , I lived there for 25 years and am so glad I moved away, will never set foot in that place again, going to sell my house and never look towards that state ever
McAllen and the RGV in general is definitely growing into a metroplex and it’s amazing to see how fast things are happening! UTRGV Football alone is going to help put the Valley on the map and it’s just an exciting time to be here ✊
