Tragic photo with Itsik Feffer on the left. Robeson visited with him on a visit to USSR in 1949. They dragged him out of prison to visit with Robeson, and then murdered him in ‘52. Solomon Mikhoels, on the right, had already been “Stalinized” in ‘48. Just because you’re a great artist, doesn’t mean you can’t be used and manipulated. It doesn’t mean you necessarily know what the hell is going on. And that goes for all three of them.
I loved this voice before i understood who he was so i learned who he was!! the workers,,Saint,,!!now i am 66,istill adore him!he is one of the 5greatest voices în the world!god bless his memory for ever!!😢😊❤❤❤
I also "...loved this voice before i understood who he was so i learned who he was!.." Once I did and I realized he was an anti-American communist lover I stopped listening to him. Now, many years later I realized he was not that great a singer after all. Just a deep voice with an attitude.
@@neimanmario sorry for you, his voice has nothing to do with politic, it still was great!communists can be bad, but they are in the open!!! Your country is so full of dobbel moral, hippocrasy, corruption, religious dobbel moral, kukluksklhan(sorry dont know the spell),i am an very old woman.etc, etc, and people starve and die in the streets because the rich elite and politics dont CARE!!!and when did the rasism stop in usa, it still exists!!at least Paul robeson tried to do something for the miners and poor people!!!!!!!!😡😥☹️😀💙
Your point is 100% accurate. Though, many of those photos are of people who are humble, worthy, and went through a lot of pain in their lives. A few of them only you got right.
One of photos for video shows (2:29) Paul Robeson with Mikhoels - a great Yiddish actor killed by Stalin’s secret police. In the 1950s when he learned the deaths of Feffer and Mikhoels. Radosh credits this revelation, along with others, as causing Robeson’s 1961 suicide attempt and his eventual, if never complete, disillusionment with the Soviet cause.
@@zvimur I am not sure 100% but it seems that the third person is Feffer, Itzik Feffer who was killed with other members of Jewish Antifascist Committee by Stalin’s executioners in 1952. The photo was probably made in the USA in 1943.
They're not really a litvak and a galitzianer, just part of a variety show so they just switched to a different song, which interestingly is neither in the litvak or galitzianer dialect
Sorry some sentences are not clear and the punctuation i only partial. But hope very much you soon will be able to figure them out. Thanks for lovely comment.
