If this is the old Bramcote Grammar School, I nearly went there ! (1976) I passed my 11 plus at Albany Junior School in Stapleford when my Dad moved us all to Manchester and ended up in a middle school 😂
I have good memories of going swimming here, and using the slides. Also went to computer fairs in the indoor football courts. The council shut it because the energy bills were out of control. I go to Sedbergh a few times a week to swim, and while there's absolutely nothing wrong with it, it has no character like Richard Dunn (and no waterslides - which were really fun!!)
Spent nearly every day here in the summer holidays as a child. A session swimming followed by chips in a cone for the walk back home. It was a fantastic sports centre, accessed by the windowed walkway overlooking the pool on the left & the sports hall on the right. As I remember it, the place was always busy with so much stuff going on all the time. Aerobics & step classes, squash courts etc. We couldn’t always afford a swim so we’d just go anyway and ‘lake’ about with friends but we’d always end up being kicked out. Fun times & it was just up the road from where I lived. Sad to see it’s in this state now.
@@carouselcakes6237 We used to do the same at our local swimming centre called the oasis. That's had the same fate although they say it will reopen, but never happens. Thanks for watching 👍
So much effort must go into these. The content and post production is excellent. Again, like the way you try to leave it as you found it. Yes, your diagnosis of the TV was pretty accurate. 😂
@@crossmeistergeneral haha 😂 thanks for the compliment , yes a lot of effort goes into editing but its not a chore as I enjoy it as much as exploring. Thanks for watching 😎👍
Another great video. I need to remember to thumbs up. I have subscribed. Not sure you have posted in a while but I like the way you try and not damage anything. I cannot believe properties are just left like this.
Thumb them up please , it really helps my channel grow , I've not been exploring for over a year now. But hopefully I'll start again next year. This property was a gem to explore.
So many questions. Those grapes? Where did they come from and how on earth could BA just abandon this place. Absolutely crazy and so wasteful. Great watch however.
Great video. Can I ask what drone you use and camera when walking around. The footage is excellent. So sad to see such a once beautiful building left to rot. The fountain just sitting there like that. 😢 Wonder why it’s full of gas cylinders and skips.
Some are converted into flats and apartments as they are listed I think parts of this one might be. Wales and Scotland still have few I think. High Royds was in several films and in several songs and was where the water tower plan was anounced closing these places as the became too big Whittingham Hospital opened in 1873 had over 3,000 patients I think high royds has over 1,000. These two even had there own train stations and engine sheds
@@ExploringHabit whats the score police wise if you get caught in an empty building is it a big nick ?? Belive it or not the police station along with 4 police houses next to it has shut down. Now sold but straight after the sale there was a mystery fire yeah right o !!! But theres some bits i would like to have can i get away with urban exploring for youtube vid i suppose i can untill i get caught with all the metal outa there. 🤣
@@judderzm2252 if you get caught with just cameras it's trespass so they'd just tell you to leave. But if you're caught carrying copper you'd be charged with burglary. No judgement here but it's not worth the risk.
@@ExploringHabit brother i totally make your right i defo dont need a burglary charge no judgement at all. I dont normally bother anymore ive had some great results out of empty buildings i cant help myself but yes your right it is a headache. Thank u 🙌
Place was huge that is a big operation from some group running scale!! In and out by looks of it maybe a couple of runs and then probably found by people braking in and then they left! If police raid it they normally leave it a lot different to this! Like they left with what they needed carefully take lights and bit with them
This place is quite interesting I passed this place all time when I go to Shell Island Camping but someone told me that big Tower used to be a dorm or something quite interesting video thanks I got this building on my phone screen on my phones because my mate said there was many people sleeping there that's why it's called a dorm that's why the that big Tower thing is actually a dorm I didn't know that at first
I went to this school and have great memories of my time there - it's all just a pile of rubble now. I remember caring for some ducklings in the central little gardeny bit!
the hall its self was owned by the Bankes family, who made their money in coal , ts in an area called Winstanly I grew up n this area - landedfamilies.blogspot.com/2019/01/358-bankes-of-winstanley-hall.html
if I remember rightly this place was used in the BBC adaptation of decline and fall which is a 1920s evelyn waugh novel. such a shame to see it in this condition I would've thought the locals would've taken care of it!.
I lived at the Brudahof in ashton keynes when i was a kid. You should see the cemetery in the top field. From what i remember. They are around WW2 Or before. Got a couple Polaroid pics of me in and around, what was the cottage ,and the cow sheds. The row of houses on the right as you go up the drive were all the staffs houses. The big house after those was called larkrise. Which was for the older lads to lead a less staff controlled life before they leave the care system. The main square of old buildings were the offices and the polytechnic school. The last building you went upstairs in video i think was called longbarn. Which runs parallel to the dairy. And from there heading away from main buildings theres a farm track leading uphill to get to cemetery looks like a clump of trees if you didnt know it was there
@@ExploringHabit if your going again just walk in and tell security your going to pay your respects at the graves. Or come and get me and I will bring my photos to prove we are not there to cause any damage
Wow, shocking to see this. I grew up here. It was my late grandparents hotel and then left to family who let it go to hell. My grandparents would be devastated at what it's become 💔
I was thrown out of there after a single term, then went and camped in the sand dunes for a couple of months. That was 2006 and I went on to sober up and did my degree at Aberystwyth Uni. I can’t say I enjoyed it much at Coleg Harlech, mainly because I don’t remember a great deal of it!
I used to go down there every year with my dad’s side of the family. Shame it has been abandoned for a while. I think I read somewhere that it is going to be renovated at some point and will hopefully reopen someday
Fingers crossed , it's a architectonically good looking building , with nice vistas. Hopefully it does open as a hotel and not flats. Thanks for watching.
That first building wasn’t an office. It was a 33,000v Scottish power substation that was decommissioned as it was stripped live. I do building maintenance for them and was called out to the octel substation
I stayed there the last year it was opened, it was a shame u can see it used to be nice but the hotel room was damp, and very little money had been spent in years. The food was nice and the pool ok. My daughter was about 5 so closed 6 years ago 2018 I think.
