We used an acid cleaner on these! Brake Up from Detail King to be exact. We did do some heavy scrubbing on them, using a toothbrush to get that hard to reach brake dust
Hey Urban Rednecker , thank you for your concern. This is single stage paint, meaning that the base (color) and clearcoat and mixed together and sprayed at the same time. So yes, there is a clearcoat IN it, not ON it.
I wish I lived close enough to bring my '93 to you. That's a wonderful job you guys did. I can't believe how great a shape the top on this car is, but the rest of it is all you guys. Great job!
Didn't see them clean under the pop ups. I didn't clean under mine until I was showing off how good my engine detail came out on my new to me1990-74000 mile, never detailed garage queen and I put the headlights up and, oh no-i missed those spots.
The thing that gets me everytime I see a Miata detail (especially an older one like this), is that the detailer never removes the seats! This is literally 4 bolts and possibly detaching a couple wire harnesses. With the seats removed, you can clean the entire carpet plus make the seat cleaning easier. How do I know? I do it for my own 1990! 😉 That said, it turned out pretty well.
Time constraints, budget.. it’s different when it’s a personal car compared to it being detailed by a business.. has to make sense for both client & us. Also it wasn’t bad underneath the seats so no need for the removal! I do get what you’re saying though!
@@precisiondetailersllc5592 Sure, that makes sense. I guess I’m coming from a different perspective. I’ve done it so many times it just takes me 5 minutes max to remove them and another 5 to put them back. Similarly, I’ve changed my oil so many times that from the time I set my ramps in front of the wheels, change the oil/filter, and put my ramps back, it’s about 30 minutes. Car really looked great though!!!
The only way that Miata would have a clear coat is if it were repainted. Usually, you can tell a repaint 1) because there is a clearcoat or 2) because usually the black strip at the door sills is repainted over. This car still has that black strip. So I'm thinking this is the original paint.
You know, for its age there was remarkably little actual wear on that car. I don't think there could have high mileage of use in bad environments. A second fun car that spent a lot of time in garage. Had to be a lazy or very busy SOB to let such a patina of dirt accumulate inside. Good for the business though!
I never thought I'd be too poor for a real 90s JDM shitbox. But the Miata shows that even old slow cars can become pricelessly expensive. 🥲 I really hate growing up in that generation. Just when you start earning your money, houses and such small cars become too expensive.
