These Soldiers would be ashamed and horrified by their great grandchildren. The disgrace of how comfortable they are with communism being taught in our schools and in our government especially the party running for President. Her ideas to control our economy and society is absolutely communism! These young adults were taught that Socialism, Marxism and Communism is human and equality. *They're believing theire lies!* *🙏🏻God Bless and Protect America and President Trump🇺🇸*
Visited the Yorktown twice . The last time we went I paid for the guided tour . It was worth the money the tour guide was great . They are all pros and know what they are talking about
I still need to do the guided tour; most of the time that I go I have my son with me in a stroller, so I can only visit part of the ship. The audio tour that you can purchase on your cell phone is great
I feel like these cons are mostly aimed at the lowcountry. The Upstate has quite a bit more variation in weather, but the pollen isn't any better! We also don't have as many insects as the coastal regions, nor are there any alligators. I did not know there were all those local sales taxes in the lowcountry! WOW.
When we lived near Charleston back in the early 90s, I would visit the Yorktown as often as possible. In fact, for 10 straight years I would spend every Memorial Day aboard her. Grabbing my flashlight, I would wander off the self-guided tours to explore off-limit areas. Once I found a room filled with old typewriters. My dad was in the Navy during Korea and spent 6 months aboard the Yorktown before being transferred to a destroyer (USS Halsey Powell - DD686) I will always remember my time at the Yorktown and those that served aboard the "Fighting Lady".
Hi Mark! I was born and raised in SC, mostly Summerville. Married a Montana farmer’s daughter from Kalispell…I agree with every word! Was there for Hugo, and every hurricane since until 2009, when we moved to Simpsonville. Don’t miss ANYthing about the Lowcountry! We love the No to Low humidity up here…it’s 60 degrees right now…CHEERS! Mark Smith
Hello! I am originally from Polson, very close to Kalispell. I have heard the humidity is a little better in that area, and that there are fewer alligators, cooler winters, etc... So it is a great area for some people, as long as they are okay with being further from the beach :)
Love your video. I'm sorry you weren't able to add our little detour to North Korea when they grabbed the USS Pueblo. That was a rather tense time for those of us on board.
Hello, I did do some research into that situation, and it looked very interesting! I couldn't find much for photo/video, so unfortunately I left it out, along with a few other things that I wanted to include (typhoon cobra, etc...)
There is no such thing as as a sudden hurricane so keep that in mind. Tornadoes are a rarity here. Heat, humidity, insects and critters are throughout the south. And I'm pretty sure thunderstorms occur in every state 🙄
Some things I hear repeated to newcomers to SC: Please do not come here and vote for higher taxes. If your county doesn't have animal control - don't complain. If someone on school board wants a new shrine to education (when the old one will do just fine) tell them NO! Don't vote for D's in some failing state then move here and continue to vote D.
I have to see everything about this ship in Charleston. One night, I believe in 1975, I was put in charge of a crew from the USS ORION to help tie her up when she was delivered to Patriots Point. It was interesting to see the old girl get to her resting point! Miss the old Cooper river bridge (kinda).
Love this old school documentary. Honorably Served US Coast Guard 78-84 small boat SAR. Nothing but respect for the men who served on the Yorktown. All them boys had balls of steel in the Pacific Theater. Proud American Patriots...Sons of Liberty. God bless America. God bless our constitution and what we stand for. Home of the brave.
Thank you for your comment, and for your service! These men definitely put themselves in harms way, and we are lucky to have this museum at Patriots Point.
#1 Same for every gulf and most east coast states #2, 3, 4 That’s just the South #5 It helps the economy; just plan for it. #6 Will improve over time. #7 Often offset by lower cost of living. #8 Pro, not a Con. #9 See #2-4; longer growing season is good. #10 Just a few weeks. #11 Flood maps show where to buy. #12 Legit issue, but it’s everywhere you’d actually want to move to. It’s great here. If you aren’t a Leftist. If you are, go somewhere else.
York County is not in the Midlands. It is in the Upstate, as up as you can get & in the Piedmont, not the Sandhills. I live in the Lake Wylie area, Upstate!
