I am a 4th generation farmer whose initial career choice pulled me far away from the family farm. I bring an engineer's mind to the modern day farm to solve problems and share information....mostly through Vlogging as well as agriculture product reviews. I love to try out new techniques, technologies, products or equipment

Follow me as I document and share my experiences (hopefully more good than bad) as I take over the family grain farm in SE Saskatchewan, maybe we'll both learn a few things along the way! I hope to be entertaining while still being educational and honest.

I'm always open for constructive criticism, comments and questions

I'll do my best to reply to any comments or questions

300hp-400hp fwa tractors cost a lot for what you’re getting from them. Like a 2017 fendt 930 with 3-4 thousand hours cost $350-$450 thousand, yes the majority of them do 50kph about they are really designed for doing high hp pto work like big square balers or tub grinders etc. just my personal opinion, but I’ve used John and fendt in that power range and we tried to pull a pro till and a 50’ flexicoil with a 430 bushel cart and I brought them to they’re knee’s. I live in Alberta so the soil and climate is different but similar. But they really struggle when I comes to the hard pulling activities. Land roller, grain cart, square baler, absolutely amazing, pulling a cultivator or disc or big harrows, they struggle. Also fendts are extremely nice but the maintenance is expensive. Just my opinion

Devin, thanks for your video. Hey man do something different and start a new trend. Unload on the go from the combine into the semi instead of running back and forth with a grain cart and tractor. There will be less fines in the grain by removing one augering step and one less man required from not having to drive a tractor. Less fuel used a swell. The combine driver can give advice to the semi driver to speed up or slow down since he is sitting higher and can see the auger spout and the semi trailer. With GPS; it could track the centerline of the trailer and have the ground speed sync feature in the combine 'talking' to the semi.
@AxiomAcres
@AxiomAcres 18 дней назад
We did that for years and aren’t going back. It’s too hard on the semis and grain trucks. Cracked mirrors, broken plastic, air leaks and electrical problems. The maintenance savings along pays for our grain cart.

I enjoyed the video - I am surprised your 8250 cannot lift a 40' head. How do you like the whale tails on the flagships for spreading residue? I look forward to every video you put out. Best of luck with the restof harvest!
@AxiomAcres
@AxiomAcres 18 дней назад
Mine is an 8230. It has weird specs, I think it was originally a corn combine as it has a high capacity unloader, but the smaller lift cylinders. Residue spreading doesn’t seem to be a problem up to 35’ in mine. The 8240 seems tapped out at 40’. We demoed an 8250 with the old style disks last year and I wasn’t impressed with their spreading at all. Wasn’t much wider than the tires

Nudge your Ditch Assist up and start cutting that way. Then Nudge it down as you go. That way your controller is not trying to take the whole cut at once.
@AxiomAcres
@AxiomAcres 23 дня назад
@@Hanorob still happens even if I do that. If the clay is hard it’ll glide on top instead of cutting and then the ditch assist thinks it needs to go deeper so it tries to but the tires just come further off the ground, until you hit a soft spot and then there’s nothing limiting the blade depth. Then it suddenly cuts 10”

Great skid unit .What you might want to do is add a recircuiting line so you wont over heat the pump when you are flowing water. and you can batch mix foam or use dish soap ( dawn works great) to help the water soak into what ever is burning . I just saw your video for the first time today
