I am four weeks away from the capstone course with my second master's program. The first master's program didn't have a capstone course so I'm a little nervous lol.
Can you explain about 6 credit hours? I can't understand this. 6 credit hours means par week 6 hours class?in my course they mentioned 1 course=3 credit & 2=6.and the course is 6 credit hours. So i have 2 class in a week & 1 calss 3 hours?Total 6 hours?
6 credit hours means at the end of the semester you will have earned 6 credit hours if you took (and passed) two classes that were both 3-credit courses.
The Course Catalog for your school should have the credit numbers listed next to the name of the course, for example, "Intro to Psychology (3)" so the 3 means the course is worth 3 credits.
If a school charges $1,200 per credit hour, for example, a 3-credit course would cost you $3,600. Two 3-credit courses would cost you $7,200; Three 3-credit courses would cost you $10,800; and Four 3-credit courses would cost you $14,400. Remember there are probably also fees charged each semester for a student activity fee (or similar).
Hey, I'm looking for studying business analytics in UTD, I'm unable to understand the credit system and also how to calculate tuition expenses based on credit hours.
You need to make an appointment with a transfer credit counselor so they can review exactly which courses you need to take, which courses you have already taken that you can get credit for, and the remaining cost of the rest of the courses. Be prepared for that meeting with the degree plan of business analytics and your unofficial transcript
I’m trying to get my high school diploma from Gale. that is through my library. I’ve tried twice and can’t pass the prerequisite course. I’ve failed math. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!
Go on Gale and search for tutoring and accommodations. Explain to someone that you are having trouble passing the prerequisite course. They may offer to test your learning ability and see if you qualify for any accommodations.
Hello dr janice, your video is very helpful but can you tell if you have to do this everyday in every class beacuse sometimes the question or comment you have in mind, someone else makes that too. So how do we navigate this situation
These are broad guidelines to follow. It is okay to say “I had the same question or comment” as a classmate. In that situation try to expand on what they said or look at the topic from a different perspective
I'm in college and they absolutely exist. Two anecdotal cases that stand out are a Data Structure professor who clearly hates male students and noticeably puts way more effort and patience into female students in particular two students who she looks at directly after every unit and asks "is that clear enough?" before giving them a private lesson in front of everyone; second is a Psychology teacher who always allows do-overs and grades on a curve when one out of about 3 students he's fond of are having trouble.

It would be 12 hours of work for one class a week, so 12 x 5 classes = 60 hours a week x 15 weeks (length of semester) x 8 semesters = 7200 hours of work for a bachelor's degree
An online First Year Seminar class should cover the same material, for example, getting the students acclimated to the college and providing resources for help.
So, a 3 credit course means you need to attend this course in class for 3 hours a week for the end of the semester, and you need to study these hours each week for 9 hours, 3 hours each. Do I get it?
Yes, you need to attend a 3-credit course for 3 hours each week (usually a 50 minute class 3 times a week or a 75 minute class 2 times a week) and then complete 9 hours of related course work, i.e. homework, studying for a quiz, practice sets, group work, studying for a test, etc.
Hi how does much 0.5 credit effects on my degree ( my teacher last season gave my 0.5 credit for GLE which i did need it bcz i already had 31 credits and i didn't complete the assignments and my point is 56 doest it effects on my degree? Can i retake it or erase it? Thanks.
You should ask your academic advisor this question. A half credit can still impact your degree technically. You might want to find a way to earn a half credit somehow so that it will total one complete credit. The registrar may or may not round up your total credits when it comes time to calculate your final degree audit.
A 2-year masters degree listed as 30 credits assumes you will be taking five 3-credit courses per year (15 credits) for 2 years, for a total of 30 credits.
You can also find a general degree plan under your Major information on the school website, but you should be working with your own personal degree plan
You should ask your academic advisor at your school because I can't answer that specific of a question. My academic experience is in the US, not the UK, so the definition of credit hour may be slightly different.
No, a bachelor's degree is typically 120 credit hours in TOTAL, which breaks down to enrolling in 15 credits worth of courses per semester, two semesters per academic year, and staying in college for 4 years. 30 credits per year x 4 years = 120 credits in total
So is taking a math course history course science, etc only necessary if its relevant to my major? So its not like high school part 2 with a major? Can you clarify? Thanks!
Most colleges have a core curriculum, which is a set of classes that every student needs to take and the classes may or may not be related to your major. Core curriculums are designed to give a broader background education to all students.
Hi! There are first year seminars for almost every subject. There is a first year seminar for French, Chinese, math, philosophy etc? I am undeclared but would like to participate
First Year Seminar or First Year Success courses typically enroll all the freshmen or first year college students and it is a course that teaches you how to succeed at that particular college. Most colleges have a program for undeclared students. During orientation when the students are divided up by major to join a session all of the undeclared students will be grouped together to do activities that help them figure out what major they should do, activities such as career inventory assessments and personality tests. Ask your advisor what is the plan for Undeclared Students at your college.
Yes at the moment spring would be my first 2nd semester and I was enrolled in a first year seminar. Im myself am a philosophy major and kinda excited to take it.
Hours of outside classroom work could also include working with a tutor to understand the material, meeting with a study group to compare answers or work on an assignment, meeting with the instructor or teaching assistant, or regular homework, reading the textbook, or studying for an exam. Students need to make individual decisions about how to best spend their time learning the material. Some students do learn better in a study group while others will learn better seeking individual help from a tutor.
Students often think that an online course requires less time because they don't need to attend class. However, they are somewhat on their own and actually have to take even more responsibility for their learning. Would love to see a video on amount of time needed for a 3 hour online course.
It depends what the 3 hour online course is about. Many online courses require the students to complete pre-work before the course begins, so that the instructor can jump right in with activities based on preparation. However, this only works if the instructor is reasonably sure that most students will, in fact, complete the pre-work required. Otherwise, they spend class time letting the students do their pre-work.
