My Mom was a teacher for many years in Mahnomen, MN. One summer in the early 70's, she took classes at Bemidji State, in Minnesota; and Floyd Westerman performed while she was there. Mom bought his album, and my sister and I listened to it repeatedly, learning all the words; which we still on occasion, bust out singing to this day!! ❤❤

I wonder how Buffy Saint Marie would have dealt with Adolf Hitler and I wonder what the world would be like today if Adolf Hitler had not been stopped.
This popped up on my screen today and took me back to my teens. Most people I knew bought the single for this track. A powerful singer with a powerful song.
other versions don't have the air of disquiet and wish for the sky to turn blood red like this one does, you can feel the indigenous rage and my Talokanil ass LOVES it
My aunt showed me these songs she is has long passed but I still feel her in these songs as a native American I am very proud and glad she did show me these songs and the memories and bind that it holds is greater than I can ask for
A brownskin woman born into a white family, could be Roma ancesterage from Europa, which is Indian leaning for ancestry, and among the Arts who really cares?
It's the journey into the afterlife; where we will meet again and see God face to face. The boy from the primitive, wise, chosen tribe of Israel is Jesus. The anthropologist is a person who is transfigured by God's love in the afterlife. The wife and all will meet him again in joy and wonderment.
This black Detroit 60's chick loves this buffy song use to watch a Canadian TV show that used this song. Loved Indian cowboy song by buffy sainte Marie also. Love Canada and would go to pow wows in Canada and michigan. Love the Native American culture.
I remember this intriguing and moving song from the 60s - beautiful and unique. It has a VERY unusual descending chromatic base line that I’ve never heard used in any other song. What that means is that the base line drops down one fret at a time - a clever device that offsets the somewhat repetitive melody line. But fundamentally it is a deeply personal and emotional song that reflects the sense of 60s free-spirit perfectly.
