It's a shame that NBC Sports removed the RU-vid video of Johnny Weir & Tara Lipinkski's commentating during this record-breaking performance. Johnny could barely speak & Tara screamed after each quad. They even noted when Ilia changed his program to make it even more difficult than originally planned. I called NBC to ask why the Weir'Lipinski video was removed. No good answer. Thanks to whomever posted this version. At least figure skating aficionados can watch this extraordinary superhuman performance. Ilia Malinin is truly an athletic phenomenon & the best male figure skater the world has ever seen. Wish him all the best in the future for a brilliant career.
I just LOVE how his father picks him off the floor when giving him the congratulations embrace. The other guy gives him the old-fashioned Russian kiss, both cheeks.
Ilia is an Amazing skater! :) However, although he is definitely powerful and executing all his moves with perfection, I find his skating displays more techniques & skills than artistry. Yuzuru Hanyu on the other hand has a great balance between technique and artistry. He has a special grace and restfulness to his skating. Can't really put a finger on it but his moves really make his skating absolutely relaxing and beautiful for the viewers to watch. I guess that's what Ilia must develop for him to fully replace Yuzuru as the greatest legend in the skating world. Anyway, just some straight-up no malice observations and for those Ilia fans who cannot take honest comments and want to leave hateful remarks in response to my observations, please just ignore what I wrote and go get a life. They are not for you.. they are only for people who are matured enough to respect another person's honest opinion without hating on them. Cheers!
