Yeah! Sort of! Most of subverted ships will cycle between generic responses, such as "receiving" or "roger that", especially the Kushan and Taiidan models.
The creepiest thing to me is thr Infection Beam emitters. Those fleshy spikes coming out of the Heavy Cruiser Carrier and Command Ship. They're the most alien part of this whole thing.
I love the design of the Multibeam Frigate. The odd kind of hunched figure, and the sound of its beams firing is like a god coughing. BWONK. BWONK BWONK. "Watch us go to work on 'em."
@@HyperspaceTraveler More accurately, there is an unused, fully textured Infected Kushan Missile Destroyer buried in Cataclysm's files. It just doesn't have any SHP file set up for it. Though the build manager has hardcoded entry limits anyway. Relatedly, there is also an Infected Kushan Ion Cannon Frigate in the files. It even has an SHP file already set up for it, unlike the aforementioned Infected Missile Destroyer. Interestingly though, it's part of "race_derelict", and is labelled as "dIonArrayFrigate"
It wouldn't be impossible to recreate it even without the original source code. The ship stats are known and cut scenes could be remade in a new engine. If a dedicated team cared enough and had the budget they could produce something that would be close enough to the original to satisfy the Cataclysm fans.

like law said. The source-code is gone. They can try to reverse-engineer it from existing copies, but that can take a long while. At that point, might as well remake the game from the ground-up.
@Razgriz_01 While a remake would be nice, I am equally hesitate, the game has such a unique atmosphere that it would take alot of work to try and emulate it
Thank you for posting this, also, I'll always find that Nomad Moon audio clip haunting. I can't believe the audio designer nailed thousands of people being melted down to nerve endings over radiowaves, gruesome stuff.
There is one detail in somtaws Archangel, that I don't like. Bottom ion turret is moved back, so when there is halfsphere of one modification, this ion turret can't fire forward, so ships firepower getting lower.
It's fascinating how they teased some of the new mechanics (mimic ships, ect), but showed absolutely NOTHING about the Beast. Trailers were something else back then, you didn't just spoil the whole game or the whole movie in them.
Amazing work brother, been looking all over the internet for something like that, really underrated gem. it's amazing how this game is still really unsettling to this day. I also love how the infected ships keeps the voices of the original crew, but it's distorted enough for you to know that there's something really of. To this day, The Beast really scare the sh*t out of me
I just can't understand how Blizzard can trademark the word "Cataclysm", especially since this game had already used it first, and they just barge in later on and ask the name to be replaced with something else? Plus it's just a common word, you can't possibly expect everyone to pay Blizzard a royalty fee every time they use this word. Ridiculous.
Sadly, they cannot. The source materials and code were lost, making a remaster impossible without reverse engineering everything. Possibly AI could be used to upscale textures and fix audio and heck maybe even figure out the source code but until then it’s not possible. 😢
The ship sizes shown here follow the original model sizes converted from feet to meters (which is the most acceptable interpretation as far as I know). This showcase won't consider any possible resizing that could happen in-game for any reason. It may not be definitive, but it's nice to imagine the scale compared to the little hiigaran astronaut. 😃
