412FC has had many good hrs put on the plane.. Flying Cacti is a great company to learn from.. I liked the plane so much I bought one and love the way it flys!!! Thanks for all the trips in your plane.
Nice video and agree that staying proficient is key. But for the love of God stop with the “last call”- Useless phrase. Who cares if what you just said is your last call? 99.9% of the time no one cares and there is no value in saying so. If outbound and deconflicting with another aircraft and you want them to know you are switching frequencies then say that, e.g. “Skyhawk 3AB switching frequency”.
Good video, John. It made me miss "Charlie," Rainbow Valley, and Adam! My 14+ hours spent mostly in FC were some of the best of my life! These days, I'm commuting to Denton, TX from Shreveport to fly the Vashon Ranger and working toward my Sport Pilot ticket. Blue skies! (Enjoy your ASP channel a lot!) Keep those flying videos coming!
I had a great experience with Flying Cacti for my LSA transition training and Flight Review. I traveled from Alabama and was able to get all of my training done efficiently and within my schedule.
Hey, can I fit into that airplane if I'm 6'5''??? I'm looking for a flight school with better rates than what I get up here in Prescott! It's WAY too expensive at $165 an hour wet for a 172!
@@adamlevy9304 Ahh, bummer. By the way, your main phone number on the website, (623) 209-8826, goes straight to voicemail every time I called it. You might want to make sure your mailbox isn't full.
The rudder pedals have breaks on the top (toebreaks). If you don't actively pull your feet down, you may break while takeoff instead of just steering which may result in a wheel blocking and your plane flying off the runway.
Good for him!!! He is such a good guy, love his videos. Amazing to see him in another world, looks like he is covering his flying ASP as well, good piloting! I need to get out there and fly the 12 soon. Always wanted a ride in one.
Great video Greg, thank you! I saw checking the ELT box and wiring for any problems, but I also I see that little ELT control above the pilot's EFIS. Do you do anything with that control module before/after flying or is it only to activate the ELT in case of an emergency?
Scott, I'll jump in here and answer your question, based on my experience in other light aircraft. The preflight checklist likely includes an item for checking that the ELT control on the instrument panel is in the "Arm" position. This will cause the ELT to start transmitting if it detects a sharp deceleration (i.e. crash). That panel can be used to trigger the ELT manually if it wasn't triggered during a crash, and it can also be used to turn off the ELT if it was triggered by a mistake, such as a hard landing. After landing, some pilots make a habit of monitoring "Guard frequency" (121.5) just before shutting down the aircraft to make sure their ELT is not transmitting.
Thanks for the video. Enjoyed it. Having the GoPro mounted on the canopy is very risky from two perspectives. The first one is that your using the GoPro stick on top of the canopy for the mount which will fail at some point. If it does it poses a threat to the vertical stab and maybe the rudder. The second, if it breaks loose it could be a hazard for people on the ground. When I mount my two external GoPro’s there mounted to a all metal structure and the mounts are all metal. Never use a plastic mount on the exterior of a aircraft. You just asking for trouble. One exception is that if you find a composite mount that was made from carbon fiber, like a pole or something other mount.
Does the mogas that you fly with contain ethanol? If so, have you had any issues using auto fuel containing ethanol? Do warm temperatures increase increase risk for vapor lock with the 912 ULS engine if using auto fuel containing ethanol? Do you have an RV-12iS in your fleet? Thanks for sharing the video. Would love to get transition training from you folks.
Hello Bruce, the Fuel we uses does contain Ethanol at time in AZ. We have not had any issues due to it. We have not had a Vapor Lock incident, even during summer. We typically ground the planes during the hottest part of the day because the ULS engines do tend to get close to overheating during climbs when its very hot out. We have an RV-12is on order that will be delivered in February.
Hi Frank. How is 412FC holding up to flight training? I flew FC a couple of times 2 yrs ago and I have just completed my PPL last month. I am now looking at buying an RV 12. Gord. Rose Canada..
@@flyingcactillc8539 1400 hrs is great! I just got word that my offer to purchase a new RV12 has been accepted! Exciting times are ahead and thanks for helping me get familiar with the RV12!
