I watched the whole video and I didn’t find this edifying at all. I am not a pastor or a southern Baptist. Forgive me for the generalization it just seems that this is often the play where softballs are thrown at the “progressives” and yet daggers are thrown at the “conservatives”. Are conservatives immune from criticism? No one bit. However there seemed to be much more venom directed that way.
Thank you brother for these comments. I have been thinking many of the same things. As a fellow SBC pastor, It is very frustrating when I have to be labeled as a non-conservative, because the word conservative has been branded to the CBN. Yes there are concerning things in the SBC but the CBN approach to things at the annual meetings is what has driven me away from them. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts about the SBC.
All I would add is the people at the mics were not dismissed because they were disagreeable but because they were continually incorrectly calling for a point of order when they just wanted to be allowed to speak knowing they had no point of order. Thank you for saying all of this!
Thank you for saying what has been needed to be said for a long time. Many of the comments being made on social media concerning what you have said, even accusing you in one way or another of giving your allegiance to Rick Warren (not sure where they get that) only serve to confirm and validate the point you make.
I didn’t know some of the folks were saying that. That’s hilarious. I’ve been a huge critic of Rick Warren for decades now. I think the standing ovation for him was bothersome. But that’s how these guys play. If they don’t like what you have to say, they lie about you. They are exactly how I described them.
