Bill reviews and drives a wide variety of cars, from classic to modern, foreign and domestic. Tangents, history, sarcasm, non sequiturs, outrage, and the weather report are thrown in free of charge. Good Morning!
One of my boss's business partners showed up in one of these vehicles he bought b for his wife. It was brand new and he was taking it back to the dealer because one of the interior door panels ha fallen off. He had it in the trunk. I always thought it was a nice car...glad to hear it wasn't so bad.
Quick... Someone should call Auto Haus or Europa whatever it's called, in Naples Florida... and ask them if Bill's dead or alive. They definitely should know, right? Could someone please do that and let us all know? TIA
Bill, Bill, what are you doing? You brought us the '66 Mustang, the '64 Thunderbird, and the C2 Corvette - all brilliant videos. And now this? A front engine, water cooled, Brie cheese, fake Beetle!! How can you live with yourself? I just don't understand, you gotta pull yourself together. At the very least you should have driven this thing with the top and the windows down - take the abuse like a MAN.
Thanks again Bill! Potamkin salesman, Joseph M., (West-side Manhattan, NY) sold me a 85 Eldorado (dark burgundy) and 86 Fleetwood Brougham D'elegance (dark blue). The Eldorado has 17K original miles. Thank you again Mr. Potamkin (RIP) & Mr. M!
4:02 Well I have no freakin idea what I'm gonna do with it, well, you know, it's not gonna be a daily driver, let's just get that out of the way, it's not gonna be a grocery getter, it's not something that I can put the lady friend in" Actually, that would be perfect to go on a groceries run - plenty of room in the back for the groceries!
I have an 11/89 E30 Cabrio. I’ve restored it from ground up, same color ( gletscherblau-metallic). Tan interior great kit from eBay new, dark original blue canvas also available eBay top. 5 speed great on the winding up country roads on Maui. I’m not selling.
Im missing you Bill. I hope you are okay and that maybe you finally got that vacation you talk about into the mountains with your woman and your whiskey.
My father had a 77 Brougham with the 400M, and it was rock solid reliable. He finally donated to the local high school auto shop after around 150,000 miles. It had a few accidents, with the worst being from a Miami city bus running the light and plowing into the rear quarter. The paint on the rear fenders never really quite matched after that.
Having grown up in the UK, these are shoddily built, rust from day one, totally unreliable, the engine is crap unless it’s the Buick sourced Rover V8. and yet people bought them… Contrary to most people I prefer the US bumper look compared to the chrome bumper versions. They look good with Minilite wheels though
I really miss my Mercedes but not the repair bills. 8000 - 10,000 miles on a set of tyres gets annoying real quick. If you get a Merc then get one with a full MB service history and maintain it according to shedule.
Remarkably, every few degrees on the 360 view I get excited with the design and then miffed. These were pretty well-made cars and unlike the Torinos they were based on, quite a number of them didn't just rust into nothing in the Midwest. My great-aunt replaced her Torino in the late 80s with a 78 Cougar XR-7. I changed oil on it but can't remember which 351 it had - Ford pretended the 351M and the 351W were the same engine and installed whatever they felt like. I know her 73 Torino had an FMX and the Coug had a C-6 but that doesn't prove anything because in '73 the Cleveland and Windsor took the same transmission but in the late 70s only the W would bolt up to an FMX or a C-4. Regardless she put lots of miles on both cars and decided to get something more fuel-efficient around the time she really couldn't see well enough to drive. Out of all my relatives who've passed on, I miss her the most. She lived two hours away but no matter what happened in the family, she was there and a voice of sanity and compassion. But this is the car that brought her there?! It is.
