Completely not proper procedures, they contaminated their entire living space and their crawl space. Insane to follow these two. The white material around the duct is asbestos containing material too, it served as a heatshield. Asbestos is used for its fire-retardant properties. They don't even know they have exposed themselves and others that will inhabit the places where they "removed" asbestos. please be careful there.

Since you’re covering up the shingles anyway and changing the color it would probably be best to put a coat of oil based paint primer on the roof first. They’re really good at blocking chemicals from coming through and discoloring your top coat.

Your welcome 🙏 It’s 4 steps - 1st-pull out plug like piece(connector) 2nd-lift out rubber seal cap 3rd-push down on the thin metal clamp and it’s pops out, swings over (bracket) 4th-pull out old lightbulb Now reverse the order when putting in the new bulb. Remember not to touch the new bulb with your fingers, just the back part you can touch (not the bulb itself). I wish my cameraman would have zoomed in to get closer so that you could see in detail. Give it another try and you’ll get it.

@@rickl6697 I did my 1000 sq. ft. roof with it a year ago. It was over old tar and gravel roof but I removed all the gravel. It worked great, looks great a year later. I went with this exact product, the 100% silicone. There are cheaper versions which I can't vouch for. It will keep your house cooler. We only used our a/c three times this summer, when the temps got up over 100 degrees outside, so it's already paid for about 1/4 it's cost, which I estimate at about $4000 with multiple coatings and tool rentals (mostly for removing the gravel). Make sure to fix any problems with your roof (leaks, namely) before doing the coating. It's super messy. I used a big 18" roller to apply it.

You said you only used #2 and #4 but then there’s a black piece that you showed putting the #4 into do I need that black piece?
@Handywoman
@Handywoman Месяц назад
Yes, they are called “clip nuts” they are rectangular and black. I bought the box that has different sizes. I used the #10 in the box that is labeled -1/4 clip nut U type assortment. It is a clip that slides on the plastic and has threads in it to help the screw go in. The screw gets screwed into it. I didn’t need mine because my clip nut was still in place. I recommend getting them just in case you need them. You can always return it, if you don’t use them. They fit the box - #10 trim screw assortment chrome.
@RandomAxeOfKindness
@RandomAxeOfKindness Месяц назад
Plastic rivets also come in big sampler boxes (well, lunchbox-sized, but with maybe a dozen each of a dozen types and sizes) for not much money. If you think you might need to do a lot of repairs or just find them handy for other uses, it's a lot cheaper. Older ones routinely break when you try to remove them, even if you have rivet removal tools, so they often need replacing if you do much work on the car. In a real pinch, you can often use a toggle bolt and a washer to replace almost any rivet, too.

As a paint contractor I see 2 problems with this job. Silicone does not adhere well to Asphalt- based shingles. Also the yellow of the roof coating will come though the second coat too. That is the tar base reacting to the silicone. They make this roof coating in a asphalt base too, maybe not white but silver. Time will tell.

This is a big no no when it comes to removing pipe insulation. As for someone who’s handling asbestos myself, I’d suggest you seal the insulation pipes off completely and then cut the metal/copper pipes from where the insulation starts and ends to avoid getting fibrous material on your clothes and everything around you. Then take it to an authorised recycling station. Lungs cost more than new pipes on the long run.

Is this product different than the Henry's rubberized wet patch ? I have a shed that has a leak in the roof and I need a solution, it doesn't have to be pretty if it works
@Handywoman
@Handywoman 2 месяца назад
I have never worked with the rubberized wet patch but I think the silicone wet patch is similar to that one. The only difference could be the color. The one you use only comes in black. The silicone is white. They don’t make the rubberized product in white. I prefer white mostly due to the heat and how the sun reflects right off of it. It’s also a little more than double the price which turns a lot of people away from it. Roofers always go the cheap route and use black products. As a homeowner I highly recommend spending the extra money and getting the white silicone.

Good video! Here in Canada, our house was built in 1927. We had a full home inspection done and found there was a very small amount of asbestos in some tiles in our cellar. After pulling up some shotty floor work done upstairs (8 years later) I found the same tiles. I was told by the inspector when I bought the house after a test was done that "unless I got down and licked the tiles, I would be ok." very little enough to worry about but I was made aware. We're looking at possibly buying an older home that has very little records but places the building around 1875. Doesn't look like it was renovated since the 1970s...absolutely 100% when buying ANY house especially an older one, GET AN INSPECTION!!! I can't believe people are actually dumb enough to buy a house site unseen and then cry about its condition.
@johnhein2539
@johnhein2539 2 месяца назад
Not every inspector checks for asbestos. In fact, few do, unless properly qualified and licensed. Tons of people "get an inspection." But all the hidden rules, details, and what all that means "radon AND mold? huh, weird necessities you got there." Vary place to place, and person to person. Unfortunately such things matter. No one is necessarily "dumb."
