Steve Austin his his move on _everyone,_ and I think the only time it got him any backlash -- at least to the point where they responded to it -- was when he hit Stacy Keibler with one when she was apparently having trouble drinking a beer with Steve. It's funny, in a 'not-really-all-that-funny' way; he hits a stunner on Stephanie, people laugh. He hits a stunner on Linda, people laugh harder. He hits a stunner on Stacy after chasing off her storyline-abusive-ex-boyfriends Test and Scott Steiner, and _that_ was what made everyone go "Huh. That wasn't really that funny." There are a ton of reasons for that that make sense though.
Randy Orton has hit the RKO on multiple women over the years. the thing a lot of people did NOT like about Stephanie McMahon was that she would use her authority to mess with people, make them lose their matches, or fight unfair matches.. etc etc.. and she generally never got anything done to her... except those few times she got hit with a move, which even then was generally an accident. so the fans did cheer it, since she was a heel, "paying the price for her wrong doings" honestly, i think Rhea Ripley and at least Nia Jax should be able to have a match with men Rhea already did once against Akira Tazawa. i would not be surprised at all if they are actually stronger then some of the men, besides we know it's scripted. Chyna not only would fight men, she was also in the royal rumble, and was once the intercontinental champion.

I never understood why intergender matches was a thing in pro wrestling but then I realized it's because a real competitive sport called wrestling does the same thing.
There's also Intergender Matches during the Attitude Era (Chyna [duh], Sable [her fued with ex-husband Marc Mero], Trish, Lita, and others all had scraps with men).
Intergender wrestling isn't nearly as rare outside of WWE and AEW as it is anywhere else. In TNA mixed tag matches the "men can only fight the men, women only the women" rule doesn't apply and that's where most of their intergender wrestling takes place. It's even more common than that on the indies, where at one point Candice LaRae was pretty much an indy queen fighting a lot of men
