Even if this interaction was brief you can easily see that Barristan is one of the few characters in season 1 that Jaime actually respects, and not just because he's his superior, but because he regards him as an equal.
Definitely his superior, not equal. Ned fought against Jaime and they were even. Ned said in a scene with Barristan that Barristan would have killed him and made his wife a widow if they met at the Battle of the Trident. I think even in his old age he would be better fighter, all that skill and experience. Prime Barristan vs Prime Khal Drogo would have been a great fight
That part where he said 'He said the same thing for hours......BURN THEM ALL'. Still gives me chills and goosebumps. I still would love to see how he descended into the madness.
I see people in the comments saying that Roberr realized what Jamie has done for the city, vut I believe this to be total bullshit. Robert couldn't have any idea about the wildfire reserves, no one had. He was speechless because many people, possibly some of his friends were executed using wildfire. It was Aerys's favourite form of punishment. That's what Jamie's reply remindind him of.
This is one of Robert's lines: "I swear to you, I was never so alive as when I was winning this throne, or so dead as now that I've won it." Sums everything up about him.
@@FearsomeVoid I can feel him, it's very realistic because I had dream to have good business, now I earn 15-20k$ a month profit and I am bored of everything, I tasted most women a man can dream of, had drinks and food, life loses meaning once u have everything ? Maybe I feel so bored because I don't have my own family and it's solution who knows
The Baratheon family are scum, disloyal, traitorous snakes. Even during the peak of Targaryen power, they were arrogant and felt entitled to the throne.
Impeccable acting all around. Top notch writing and dialogues. Every actor fits their character like a glove. No wonder even after almost 15 years, we’re still glued to it.
Ser Barristan was one of the most underutilized characters in the show, we never got to see him really show off his swordplay and we got to watch him get stabbed to death like a punk. Jaime is another underutilized one but I must admit, my heart damn near stopped when he pulled the sword from Brienne and initiated a fight.
It’s crazy to think we had a scene where two of the best sword fighters were in the same room, and when it came to seeing them in action, we never ever got to see them kick ass.
His disingenuous bow to Robert. The genuine subtle bow to selmy, as a swordsman’s respect. Roberts loss of insult when Jaime told him the mad kings last words. Absurdly good.
4:19 you can actualy see in Robert's face that he didn't expected that answer. I like to think that he thought in that moment that maybe Jamie saved them all and he wasn't the bad one in the story...
Crazy but His first kill was in a rebellion he started himself, by that alone u could tell how fuckn furious he was at Rheagar and he really did fight with the might of 10 men💯😭
It always stuck out to me how Robert remembers the faces of the men he's killed, and yet can't remember Lyanna Stark's face, the woman he claimed to love unendingly. PTSD probably plays a roll, sure, but that contrast can't be ignored.
