That’s some serious equipment you got.. unfortunately by the time it hits my hearing receptors it digitally crushed and siphoned through my phone speakers. Regardless could you please post more Great Society?
Nothing… nothing .. sounds as good as tubes .. that rig is so interesting.. looks like a VOT type speaker arrangement(?) .. looks like an 18”(?) sub? Some big ass vac tubes all around… I’ll bet it sounds glorious.
Yes, it’s somewhat similar to VOT, only in this mono system there are 2 field coil woofers and they are 15’ each and another system with a large speaker, it is 59 centimeters in the low-frequency horn
Bass horn, there are 2 of these with large speakers bass horn over half a meter, on top there is a mid-high-frequency driver with field coil, this is a separate stereo system! it does not connect to a mono system!
How is the oxide shedding on that vintage tape? BTW, pretty cool old tune too! As a side note: a friend of mine has a pretty extensive collection of vintage tape because his father worked for Audio Tape in the 50s / 60s so brought home "factory seconds" which is mostly damaged boxes or end of the master spool (short) loads. Everything is 7 inch or 10- inch reels. Also has some vintage gear. The newest is a pair of early 70s Teac decks and the older is Berlant, Uher, and similar from early studio surplus. Some of that is either full track or multi-head gear with outboard electronics.
Reek to reel tape players are the authentic high fi sound of the sixties and seventies. The tapes were made directly from the studio masters and had an enormous amount of headroom. I remember as a kid in the 1980s you could get 1960s official record company reels of the stones and grand funk rr, for cheap like 50 cents at garage sales and flea markets. I bought loads. My Dad had a japanese multi speed tape player. I had a reel to reel of Are You Experienced. I could listen to it backwards and multiple speeds and hear how it was made. That was the definitive way to listen to music. Vinyl was in second place. It had decent headroom, but so damn staticky.
All I want to know is how you found all this stuff to even put such a monstrosity together. That is such old stuff I never even seen any of it in person in my lifetime and I am in my 40s now...
tube amplifier from England in 1930 with DA-60 Marconi and Osram output tubes, the amplifier has been modernized taking into account musical preferences
@@user-ve6mp2ni5z That amp is older than my grandad literally. He wasn't born until 39 LOL. The sound that stuff has really captures the time it came from well.
