I have all the Jadeite you have, I also have rare and morgue... and rare turquoise fire king only 1900's to 1939 the year they actually stopped doing jadeite glass not restaurant wear and most new collectors don't know much info if they don't have the fire king books from the 1980's. most info is wrong.
I found the 10.25" plate i guess you call it a luncheon plate....at goodwill a few weeks ago for $1.25 I love the etching on it it has a small chip & don't really want to sell it but if course the chip diminishes it's worth. But was just wondering what would it's worth be in perfect condition I see ebay prices @ $110.00 ....?????
She said "I don't collect jadite" but wether any of this ends up in her collection is to be seen.. Ilmfao 😂... You don't collect it but you have a collection... Obviously, you are a bit nutty, or crooked.. Either way I don't see this sale going to fair for people... Sounds like you already have a "LEG IN" seeing how you don't collect, but might add peices to your collection. .WTF
Me and my husband went to an antique shop. A man had old blue beatiful dish set, expensive. Kobalt color. He said use blk light to see if it glows its poison. I said im not buying poison dishes i cant eat on.
Soo did they ever make a more vibrant blue? Like a cobalt blue? I've recently found a set and they actually glow under uv light. Like a deep rich blue color.
No !!!! Hold Black Light to them with your lights off. If they GLOW you can't eat off of those Its Poison !!!! An Antique man showed me and my husband. They are poisoned.
Great video! Just fell in love with a single cup and saucer that I found at a local antique mall, never seen anything like it before. Currently doing a deep dive, and this video was SO informative.
Why are there canisters with the poinsettia lids and also with plain lids? Are the plain lids original or are they married pieces? Does it have to do with size?
Question for jadeite experts - Martha Stewart is selling new jadeite, and one of the warnings on her bowls says, “not suitable for boiling water.” I’m wondering if that means that you shouldn’t use the bowls to boil water, or that you shouldn’t put boiling water in them. I would think it meant the former and that it would be safe to pour boiling water from a tea kettle into a jadeite tea cup, or boiling soup broth into a jadeite bowl, but I just want to make sure. Any thoughts? Thank you!
Great video I just came across some of the replicas at our neighborhood thrift store, I purchased the candle holders in the pink.. well now I know it’s a replica because of what you just said in your video. I wanted to purchase more of the pieces but I’m uncertain. I want to say it’s a 1970s candle holder with the lip inside to hold the candles now I know. Why a beautiful collection I would love to see how you display it.
Thank you for this presentation. I'm a complete newbie, but I was reading that one way to distinguish old from new is that the old depression glass has tiny bubbles in it, and the reproduction glass doesn't. Is that true?
A very informative presentation but with very amateur camerawork. In the future, please use a lapel mic so it doesn't pick up the cameraman clearing his throat every 30 seconds. Those certificates were nice to see and may explain why my grandmother, who ran a country store, had a set of green Madrid. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Thank you Pam- Very helpful ! We are a farm. I am restoring a 1920s Hoosier baking cabinet. I am choosing the green spice jars and decided to purchase jadeite to use for a few everyday kitchen items, like S&P, butter dish, juicer. And I love them so much, I bought matching jadeite drawer pulls for the Hoosier! My sister enjoys hunting the shops for vintage. I am going to ask her to scout the jadite in her travels. I don't get out much, but will go to local yard sales, because we are a farm community. Really enjoyed your talk and demo. ~ Diane
