Hi and welcome to my channel! I’m Denise & a mum to a 6 year old boy. On here you will find all sorts of lifestyle stuff from food shopping hauls, family dinner ideas, recipes, kids clothing hauls, day in the lives & lots more. I hope you enjoy what you see and stick around 💕
New subscriber. I am continually surprised at the more varied options at UK Aldis vs US Aldis. Even given the conversion rate, the UK is a bit cheaper and better variety.
Gosh, this was a bumper edition Dee! Was it two weeks and i am feeling a bir lost as i am missing your grocery haul this week?🤔Happy Belated Birthday 🎂🎉🎈🎁Your tapas looked delicious. I enjoyed all of your meals this week. You do have a lot of cooking to do don't you, often cooking two or three different ones! The fajitas meal and the roast dinner were my absolute favourites. I have never heard of stovies and i am just in Durham! Hope Noah's swimming lessons are going well. What a little sportsman he is becoming!
Thank you, I’m maybe another year older but certainly not any wiser 😄. We were away on Friday morning and came back Saturday evening so there was no grocery haul this week. Still have quite a bit in my freezer so I’m trying to make space for the incoming Christmas food that I will be buying. I did buy a mini shop from Tesco yesterday but wasn’t worth filming but hopefully have one up end of the week beginning of next once I’ve made more space. Oh Durham is nice, although I’ve just driven through it rather than spend any time there as I was heading to Nottingham. Hope you have a lovely week 😊 xx
I do love prawns 😆. They are probably one of my favourite things to eat. You do have to watch when cooking them though as if you cook them too long they can go quite rubbery. My roast dinner was lovely, it was ages since I last cooked a roast 😋 xx
Steve takes Noah round to see his Mum on a Saturday afternoon and they both eat there. I use the time to have what I like to eat, watch something that I want to watch, have a bath and maybe even a drink too. The only time I get to myself all week and I enjoy it 😃
I do like,Sainsbury's however The taste the difference meals are a big disappointing, I got vegetable lasagna yesterday and it was horrid. A slushy mess and vegetable free.
Oh that’s rubbish. I hate it when you’ve been looking forward to having something and its tastes not nice at all. As you say it’s disappointing 🙁. I’ve never tried it before but will avoid it in future xx
I love mushy peas with fish & chips although the last time I bought it from the chip shop it wasn’t mushy at all. It was dry as if all the liquid has been cooked out of it 🤢. Haven’t bought it again 😆. Do you put the gravy on the fish as well or just over the chips? I’ve never tried it with gravy before, just tomato ketchup or tartare sauce. xx
I always try to get free range where I can too. Not only a bit more humane but from a nutritional point of view they’ll be absorbing nutrients from the sunshine and fresh air and be healthier to eat.
The cheaper chickens are only around 30 days old whereas the free range ones tend to be around 100 days so they will definitely be healthier to eat as they’re not pumped with water. It’s just that it is a lot more expensive so I totally get why most people still buy the cheaper versions. xx
Always glad to see you in the cyber aisles in Sainsbury's! That joint will make an excellent roast dinner! I know that you said that Noah was tired or the sausage rolls, why not try the cheese ones, they are very tasty and do come in a two pack which is a good way to try them. They are lovely, hot or cold. Honey and lemon with a little hot water for your cold. Better still, add a slug of whisky! Hope you feel better soon.
I’ve tried him with the cheese and onion ones before (although they were from Aldi’s) and he wasn’t keen on them. I never got round to using my pork joint so it’s in the freezer until I decide to use it. Thank you, I’m just finally getting over it now. I think having a week’s holiday helped even though we were only away for one night it was good just to relax a bit. xx
Oh a leftover curry toastie would be really nice 😋. I saw a couple of sweet ones using marshmallows and chocolate, not sure how I feel about a sweet toastie 😆 xx
When is make honey roast veg, i mix little flour with salt and pepper, and add runny honey and mix, covering the veg with it,it's good, good for noah, learning to swim, I couldn't swim at 40 then got posted to hong Kong, and taught myself to swim then, better late than never 😊
Oh thanks for that tip, will use cornflour next time and see how it turns out. Well done for learning to swim yourself, you must have been so proud 😊. I’m not a very good swimmer and should probably learn to swim myself but I hate having water in my face. xx
@thelifeofdee75 I hate drowning, but it's meant that i could do a canoeing course and white water in andes mountains, give it a go, you won't regret it xxxx
Thanks for that, will give it a try in the air fryer next time and see how it turns out 😊. Glad that it’s not my cooking then and it’s the pastry that is at fault 😆. I do miss proper puff pastry though 😢 xx
Gosh, what a beautiful mix of colourful delicious meals. You are so calm after spending ages cooking that delicious roast dinner and the boys had takeaway! That prawn stirfry looked worthy of having its picture in a food magazine. Chicken pie looked delicious too. You are such an intuitive cook!
What a truly delightful video. You are very talented in the home decor department! You have done a lot of leg work for us here. Hope you have a great time away. Noah will never sleep that night. Hope you get your photo. What beautiful silky fur Violet has. Really enjoyed this.
Yes they are. I think they are £1.07 in Sainsbury’s and are price matched with Aldi. I find that with fresh you need to use them within a couple of days otherwise they seem to get brown spots on them. They just take a few minutes to cook so I’d definitely recommend giving them a try 😊 xx
Oh a risotto sounds nice, I could make it with the sage I have in my fridge 🤔. I’ve never tried a Thai red curry before so might give that a try too as I love prawns. Thanks for sharing your ideas ☺️ xx
🙄 He’s got activities on 5 days out of 7 so I don’t think dropping one is making me a bad mum, especially when he will still be playing football 2 days a week. It’s a lot of running around for us as parents to do as well as work, cook meals, help with homework, bath times, housework as well as other day to day things. There are plenty of kids out there who don’t even get taken to a single activity due to costs, etc so I really don’t think that Noah is hard done by!
Lovely shop as always. That beef will make a delicious dinner. Noah will tire too.of all of those sport sessions so you are right to cut one and it is duplicated. PS Enjoyed your making your home over for Autumn but cant for the life of me find it, to add my comment! Loved the £10 street scene. It will come out year after year and you will never tire of it, is is gorgeously whimsical
Thank you ☺️. Unfortunately it doesn’t tire him out, he’s still wide awake at 9-9.30pm. It’s us that’s tired instead 😆. The video will just be under this one if you go on my channel. The wooden scene is very cute, it definitely will come out year after year 😊 xx
Hello i hope you are will greate , I have joined you for a special purpose, I am a RU-vid expert, I noticed your RU-vid channel and you are struggling with views and subscriptions. If you want, I can help you. Do you agree?
My husband has a good breakfast, and a light lunch, and fills his face with chocolate, crisps and pork pie, in the afternoon, so at dinner time, he doesn't eat anything......NOT, he has a massive plate 😂😂
He fills up on Sausage McMuffins, bacon rolls, costas, meal deals from Tesco during the day so he’s not that cheap to feed 😆. He said that he doesn’t like feeling full in the evenings and that’s why he eats more in the daytime than in the evening. Always has room for chocolate and desserts though 🙄
Think i have only commented maybe once or twice but just know i always watch everything you post! I often rewatch as a comfort thing lol...much love sent love Lucy xx
They are a really good price aren’t they for what you get? Noah loves them and his friend seemed to enjoy it too. Shame the gf pizzas aren’t as cheap as these ones xx
I’ve been waiting for the day that someone asks that question as I know myself his portion is tiny 😆. He just doesn’t eat a lot at night, very rarely does he finish what I give him but that is so he can have a dessert or chocolate afterwards . He does eat more throughout the day so he probably fills up then. He sometimes has a bacon roll/sausage McMuffin mid morning and he usually eats a meal deal at lunch time so I think that’s why by evening he’s not starving. I’m the opposite I don’t eat much during the day and fill up at teatime so that’s why my portion is about twice the size of his 😆 xx
I see lol 😆 it's the opposite with me I eat like a child so my portion size is probably smaller than your sons 😅my partner eats like a pig 🐖 but don't put weight on 🙄 just wanted to ask the question didn't know if I had to many wines 🍷lol
Thank you Ann! 😊 I filmed it today so will probably upload it on Friday as I won’t have a grocery haul video this week as I need to use up what’s in my cupboards/freezer before the Christmas stuff starts coming in to the shops xx
Hey we’re all good, hope you are too? Yes he’s glad to be back at school, I think he missed his friends while off on holiday. I’m sure in a few more years he will be less excited about going back 😆 xx
Gosh, Dee, i never even venture into the realms of Taste the Difference prawns like those. They look marvellous. Crumbs, i think Noah needs his own social secretary! I see him being a heptathlon(is that the one with the most sports in?) Olympian when he grows up! Great shop as always. It must be so hard reading all those labels to see the gluten in them. The home decor video sounds a welcome addition. Remember: no jacket potatoes.(despite you having so many of the perfect size!) with those magnificent prawns!
The prawns were really nice, I had them on Saturday in a stir fry. Still wouldn’t pay almost £8 for them though 😆. I just checked to see if Heptathlon was the most but it’s a Decathlon which has 10 instead of heptathlon’s 7. He certainly has enough energy to keep him going for all 10 😆. Hope things are all good with you? xx
Gosh hope this £12 off voucher long continues! (and you never know it might be a glitch) I got one when i started using them , which must be about 10 years ago at least and not a single one since! Think sometimes they don't treat people who are loyal to them well enough. Oh I bought one of those 95p pizzas after you mentioning them and honestly I was poised with the grated cheese but none was needed. In fact it looked and tasted remarkably like the one i buy from the Coop at £3.85! No kitchen roll this week! Glad to hear it.Noah having the same friend over twice. I think he must like Noah's mum and the delicious food that she provides them!
I think I might have just had my last voucher, they haven’t sent me any more this week! I think I’ve had a money off voucher from them once before and that was years ago on my last account. Maybe you need to open a new account with them ☺️. The 95p pizzas certainly have loads of cheese for that price. I was the same the first time I got one as usually with the cheaper pizzas it’s mostly tomato sauce base and a few sprinkles of grated cheese but none was needed. They are probably manufactured in the same place as the co-op ones, at least you know where you can get them cheaper for next time 😊 xx
@@christinamillington2342 sorry to hear that. Are you getting any help with the way you are feeling? Sometimes it’s harder to have more up days when you have so many down days. Sending you a big virtual hug xx
Hi Christina, thank you so much 🥰! The pasta was really nice, I’m definitely making it again! I’m glad it’s finally the weekend, hope you have a good weekend xx
I love it when you go to Sainsbury's. It is so comfortingly familiar. The pasta dish you are doing sounds delicious. You seem to go through a lot of kitchen towels! How expensive it is to be gkuten free. I remember when people got bread in prescription! The roast sounds good too, nothing like a roasted parsnip to elevate a roast dinner! Have you tried the Whippy and Chewy Caramel little bars in the same £1.10 range? They are Milky Way and Mars Bar dupes respectively. Both are nice but the Whippy ones are even nicer than real Milky Way. I buy them all the time so now and again I get them on my special 10 for 88p!
The carbonara was really nice and it’s done in the same pot which saves on washing up. I probably go through around a roll and a half a week. I use it for cleaning my worktops/chopping board but also Freddie is sometimes sick in the morning after inhaling his breakfast so I use kitchen towels to clean it up. Being a cat he doesn’t just vomit in the one place, he decides to do it in a few places. Under the kitchen table is a popular choice, it seems the more difficult a place for me to clean it the better 😬. My Mum said my Dad used to bake me gf bread and they used to get my biscuits on prescription but that she had to pay extra for the ones with chocolate on them 😆. Will need to try the Whippy bars the next time, thanks for the recommendation 😊 xx
