I have this lens, it doesn't have any obvious fungus but the lens is very yellow. It is only usable if i alter the camera's white balance, otherwise everything looks rather sepia!
Very nice review of the Van. How is your experiance with it mechanically ? Engine gearbox clutch breaks, etc and how reliable is it on longer journies ? What is the maximum speed you have driven this van ?
@@sohailzafar4340 we’ve had it 20 years and travelled 120k across UK, France, Spain, Germany and it hasn’t missed a beat mechanically. Clutch and gearbox smooth as silk. Cruises on motorway at 100k. Climbs hills with ease too. Just done cam belt every 5 years and serviced every year. It’s been amazing.
I have the Pentax Spotamatic SP11 I just finished reconditioning the camera I had to put new light Seals and a mirror bumper I have the classic Takumar 50mm1.4 radioactive lens , Takumar 35mm 3.5 & the Takumar 135 3.5 all the lenses have the orginal metal hoods
Nice review. A small correction if I may...the stop down switch doesn't operate the metering. If this were the case then it would be stop down metering. In fact, the meter is always on when the lens cap is off. Also, did you realise that there is a "T" setting? With the shutter speed on B, hold down the shutter release while rotating the collar around it. The shutter will then stay open until the collar lock is released.
Thanks for that. Doesn’t it depend on the lens I thought? Mine came with the Supertakumar 55mm 1.8 designed for TTL metering but other lenses need to be stopped down? Not sure but thanks for your comment.
@vintagevantics You are correct that open aperture metering is only possible with SMC (super multi coated) lenses like yours. I don't currently have a battery in mine to check, but with other M42 lenses, I believe the meter will still always be on, but will only give an accurate reading when the lens is stopped down. In other words, for a correctly set up camera, the meter needle will be in the "+" region until stopped down.
Great little camera, very capable and has reached an almost iconic status now! I must admit I've just added one to my retro camera collection after a long search to find one locally at a reasonable price. The model I have is almost pristine and I'm looking forward to shooting some film with it. My quest to get one goes back a long way, on a school trip in the 1970s my best friend took his olympus trip 35, I had our family kodak instamatic, it was only after we compared photos, I realised how crude our family camera was and how much nicer the Olympus Trip photos came out. I said back then I wanted to get one but they were way out of my pocket money price range. Until now....😊 I've added your channel, hopefully you'll connect with another retro camera photographer. 📷
I’m trying to fix the dashboard radio section. Right hand side is lower than the left by almost a centimetre. I’m guessing a broken bracket or a rather loose or missing screw. Any ideas?
Hi, I tried this trick and it helped me partially. Even so, the EEE error sometimes appears mainly after switching on and pressing the trigger. However, it happens to me at some times. I'm afraid it's probably old age and an error in the electronics.
@@vintagevantics It was confirmed to me that if I click the shutter several times before inserting the film, the eee error almost does not appear. However, the question is whether the shutter is OK. There are quite ugly stripes in the photo.
@@sorkarkelly8066 ah that sounds like another issue. May be a sticky shutter. Try it with the back off and no film and see if the shutter is sticking at slow speeds
@@sorkarkelly8066 so open the back as if you were loading the film and fire the shutter at different shutter speeds a few times to see how the shutter curtain behaves. It shouldn’t get stuck half way across and this might be what is causing the stripes.
Great story, lovely images. My 5D begins with 052, so I suspect it's among the early ones. I've only had it a couple of months and have shot maybe 100 frames. No issues.
You're audio is hardly understandable due to UN-clear pronunciation !! It's not a pleasure following your words ... so I have to quit after half a minute !! Thumb DOWN !!
@@vintagevantics your calm presentation is lovely and is in fact enunciated very clearly. your choice of music during the photo viewing is great. and, finally, and in my opinion, you made an excellent decision in selecting the particular copy of the 5d that you have (and despite the comment of another commenter, it in fact remains factually true that your copy, assessing by serial number, is not included in the group that had the mirror problem. beautiful camera paired with a beautiful lens !
Nonsense! The pronunciation is excellent, far better than most RU-vidrs. As for the mirror, if you have a film camera upbringing and don't take tens of shots on continuous shooting every time when only one is needed, then I think it will last just fine.
Hi ! Can you point me in the direction of the music you used in this vlog please ? I would love to use the piece you used as you came off the ferry and went into the lanes. Great video. I live round here and you never see the beauty until you see it in a video like yours . Puts a great spin on it and makes it a better place to be , when you see what others are enjoying , that you've prob overlooked .......because its there !! Make many more please
@@vintagevantics yeah I have the 35-70lens. I also have a manual FD lens but when I use it the photos always turn out really dark or really bright. Did you have to use that exposure compensation button when you used your manual lens?
@@MastaKeahi ah right. I’d like to try the AC lens but I picked up a body only and used a 50mm FD lens that I already had. Settings wise I just used the program mode and let the camera do the work. All turned out well exposed. Not sure what your issue might be? ISO setting?
@@vintagevantics you can pick one up even with a camera for cheap on EBay. And I’m not entirely sure I guess. I know it’s strange that there really isn’t a good way to set shutter speed I used Fuji 400 I’m trying a Kodak 400 right now. I may try to go to a 100. I think I’ll try to take more pictures outside and go from there.
Great video! Totally agree with the design comment: is beautiful and functional. Got a Minolta Capios 115 (Riva zoom 115) and cannot wait to try it. Thank you very much for the review, very nice shots!
Did my post offend you? Was seriously asking for help with my 50D, but seems you deleted it. Didn't mean any offense. Just wanted some help figuring out how to get constant record time with ML. Sorry, mate.
Fantastic, thank you for that. I'm going to see a 2006 3 berth model next week and quite excited after this video. They seem to be very well designed and spacious. This one is the 2.8 TD, and if its anything like the old 2.0hdi that i used to have, it should be smashing.
Good work! Out of curiosity, are those branding ring removal tools 3D printed? If so, what material is it as I can't imagine PLA/ PETG to have much 'grip'. Are they made using TPU? I just used blutak to remove the brand ring on my CZJ Sonnar when I did my CLA 2 a week or so back and wonder if there are better (and affordable) alternatives.
