Some of the lines for the traders I honestly thought were supposed to be played as raw comedy and self-awareness to the characters, but they actually turned Dollar Bill into a flanders caricature, and most of the traders as well, by putting the most sophomore dialogue in their mouths. It's a testament to the actors abilities that they were able to get through some of these scenes with the crap they had to say.
Seasons 1-2 were some of the most engaging television in years. Seasons 3-4 were a fun, campy romp. Everything during and after that, Billions became like "Ultra-Rich Entourage" as another user put it. I could take a character or two explaining the metacontextual motivations behind their actions once or twice, but once the script writers started slamming the script directly in your face I was starting to feel like my intelligence was being insulted. It's a shame, because the initial Chuck-Wendy split was so good.
