Follow along on my fishing trips and learn with me while I do boat projects. Certainly not an expert but I want to share my experiences and learn to be a better angler along the way.
@@Everydayfishing Wow , Garmin said I had to install the transducer GT 54 it came with for the unit to work with live scope lol….They said it needed both to work ! I must have got a bad tech ! Because I asked the same question. ( could I run just a live scope transducer and they said no lol….. I have the echomap ultra 126 sv ! I will call them back tomorrow! Thanks man !
How do you run your spot lock ! Having transducer cable directly on your trolling motor shaft? Don’t you have potential to break your cable ? Most I’ve seen have a pole attached to trolling motor shaft that runs independently.
You just have to leave enough slack in your transducer cable - a small loop is usually enough. I just tested it by deploying the trolling motor in the garage and spinning it full rotation
Do you run your Trolling motor on 24 volts or 36 volts . And what is your battery set up ! If you run 24 are you happy with it ? Enough thrust ? Lithium or lead acid on TM and What starting battery do you use ? Thanks for info
@@MrFishhook it's 24 volt system - lead acid old school batteries. Never had a problem running the trolling motor for 8-10 hours all day. My starting battery is a group 31 lead acid. Also no issues running 3 graphs and lvs34 all day!
@@Everydayfishing I think we have the same boat and set up ! I have a Nitro Z-18 with the same batteries, I want to upgrade trolling motor Batteries to lithium. Not sure about 24 volts or 36 volts . Will probably run 2 12 volts to get 24 volts. 98 thrust seems enough! Thought about adding a third lead acid battery just to see how 36 volts runs compared to 24 volts . It would be a 200 dollars experiment to see the difference before going to lithium lol…. I can always put the lead acids in my small bass boat ( Sun Dolphin )
Question: How are your Garmin transducers set up ? If your Garmins live scope transducer is on your ghost trolling motor where is the transducer the unit came with mounted ? Sorry for all the questions, but trying to rig my boat this week. Thanks Paul
I put my fuse for my Garmin 126 sv coming out of my perko on/off switch . I will eventually make a double pigtail out of the perko to supply power to a live scope box . It will have its own fuse as well ! I like having the fuses in the back for easy access.
I bought a new 2018 z18 in 2018 from foothills also for $33k OTD. I can't believe how much they have gone up. To me, the pro package seems like a waste of money. If you can afford to, pay cash for all of your add ons, gradually build instead of paying interest on it on the loan.
Thanks for the update. I've watched your video of when you got the boat at least 10 times. I plan on buying a nitro in about a year. Overall seems like a great boat.
Hope you used stainless steel staples or the regular ones will rust and come apart and so will the carpeting. Don't ask me how I know! That moving carpet should have been more comfortable under your knees not your toes. So far this is turning out really nice! BTW I thought you said you were going to raise the front to make a platform.
The gl 10 box has an Earth ground Symbol on the back not a negative to the battery this is to prevent RF interference, yes your battery negative is grounded to the motor, and the motor is grounded in the water, but when you ground to negative on battery the RF and blue tooth signal can travel through all the units connected to the battery if you have interference. You need to ground the gl 10 to a water ground some boats have a ground in the hull some have a metal plate under the dash. VHF hi-power radios must have water ground it would mess up your electrical system. I talked to Garmin Tech about this on the phone. If you have a problem water ground!
I wouldn’t say it’s a good idea to have your engine running with throttle on the muffs. I could be wrong that’s just what I’ve been told. Very helpful video tho you helped me so I’m trying to help you lol. I guess it burns up the water pump or the engine or something I can’t remember
Yeah I wouldn’t recommend running it long… but as long as you are getting enough water in to cool it and you can see a strong discharge, it’s probably safe for short term
I subscribed. Put a mushroom screw bolt then a washer on both sides the a lock nut on every😅 thingbwill eliminate that problem I would put a lid lock on cooler with lids. Put some e6000 and a small hose lock or zipties
Hey man I’m thinking about do this to my 16 ft Dixie but I’m terrified when looking for the parts. There’s sooo much out there. What parts did u use? And how has the throttle control been working for you? I noticed you jiggle it around a little when getting it close to neutral.
I found this on Amazon - just be sure to search for one that matches the brand of your outboard. Usually the product descriptions are pretty accurate. Don’t worry too much and give it a shot! Trust me it’s daunting at first but it gets easier once you dive in. I’ve been happy with this one - a.co/d/cgKeRa0
Well Nitro boats come with a Ghost trolling motor… I figured people would want to hear my experience with it. Wouldn’t be very genuine if I skipped that part!
@zacharybrown624 the Ghost is the default motor since 2022 unless you specify - check the Nitro website. No sense getting upset about it though - sorry that ruined the review for you
I rebuilt a bass tracker. I added an electric winch…that is a great addition with sitting way at the back….though we do a lot of cat fishing with a 9y old…..he can’t do the anchor without a button
FYI, I just installed the same throttle control and the trim stopped working for me too a day or 2 later. Thanks for sharing that part. Replacement relays did the job. Thank you! Anymore problems with the relays since then? I'll probably keep a couple extra on the boat just in case
Those relays will go bad when they arent used for a long period of and then used again. Idk but ive ran into a couple of times. Theyll work then pop. 🤷♂️
I'm glad to see I'm not the only extremely meticulous boat guy out there.. 😂 I rehab and flip boats myself. It's an addiction bringing older bass boats back to life, sell em, make a little and start over.
Haha no worries my man. It’s not like I’m asking for your cash… what does hitting subscribe cost? If you enjoy the videos it seems to make sense… but anyways, thanks for watching
Just makes sense that if someone likes your video then they’ll hit the like button and subscribe if not they won’t. And begging for people to subscribe to your channel is basically making them want to turn them off. I know it does me. So in any video, where the poster is getting on begging for people to hit the subscribe button I don’t even watch the video. I immediately turn it off. Nothing to troll about, just my opinion. After 60 years of watching commercials on TV and being unendated with billboards I basically get fed up with them. Nothing to troll about. That is why I canceled my cable and DIRECTV was because every two or three minutes There was like 5 to 10 minutes of commercials coming on and I just got tired of watching commercials. There are more commercials on cable than there is on the free antenna TV. I can remember when cable started They’re selling point was no commercials. if I’m paying $100 a month for cable or DIRECTV why am I being inundated by commercials?
Looking into this but concerned with rods getting rub wear loosely sitting against the blank. I've had two expensive rods just rub on each other before from road and lake motion. Any word two years later on how this aged?
Well I can’t say I buy super expensive rods… I usually get the Abu Garcia Veritas (like $120) but I haven’t noticed any wearing on the handles. And I always have them in rod sleeves so there’s no issue there
I've been looking at boats lately and I'm gonna be buying one in a year, good to know nitro is a good boat to have.. I'm close to Hartwell lake in sc. I'm definitely looking into the z18. I'm not a tournament guy. Just take me, my kids, or friends out fishing..
Heck yeah man, I know Nitro gets some flack for being “cheap” but it’s practically the only legit bass boat you can get for under $50k. I love mine so no complaints here!
Just make sure they go over everything with you while you are there. Don’t be afraid to ask tons of questions. One thing I noticed about mine was the screws in the bunks on the trailer were loose, soI had them take care of that before I left. Yes I was crawling under it 😂
I will be doing this in a few day. Fingers crossed. 96 Force 50hp coming off 2005 Mercury 75hp going in. Boat tracker deep V 17 the wiring is iffy at best. Going to make it useable this year. 2025 total rebuild foam , wiring, add kicker. Deck lights. Thank you
@Everydayfishing I think my boat was made on bring your kid to work day. Got to the 2 part foam dept and Bill Sr had to go take a dump. OK Jr see you mix this stuff then you pour it here and here not there there and for sure not there. Got to the next dept. Face palm just cover it. I have to gut it. This just got real ugly. But must press on.
